Roocru--

Speaking of Quincy...

I don't know if they've made a determination yet, but my guess is the way he was walking around, he's in a lot of pain and not coming back this season.

You heard anything about a medical redshirt?

Josh,

I have not heard anything yet.  I agree that he was definitely hobbling but he did have on a full leg brace.  How bad he really is I am sure only a few people know.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Speaking of injuries and "medical redshirts" - what is the latest on Miss. College's injured QB?
And how did HSU come out of yesterday's game injury-wise? (Other than to pride. :'()
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

TrickyTroy

yes,
Why should I see your ring to see national on it. I have one myself.(semi-Finals but yours does say finalist) ::)

As far as MHB having a better football History than HSU  I doubt that

ASC Conference Champions : 10 times
Playoff apperences: 10
D3record: 96-21
NFl HOF: 2

What are MHB stats on these does anyone know?

MHB is a quality team, but don't think your the all-time best or think your stay on top forever. HSU was on top a long time before MHB became top dog and other titeams are improving every year and might catch up to HSU and MHB. Believe it or not McMurray was a top dog for a few years. Research your history, you are a college grad.

I was able to sit in the student section at Belton and watch the UMHB/HSU game. It was a lot of fun, and the game was well-played by both teams. I enjoyed the traditions that the CRU have at their football games. I also appreciate the fact the the Couch Cru captians worked to make sure the comments made to the HSU players were not abusive.

Does anyone know what happened to Hurst? I noticed that he left and didn't return. I hope that he's ok.

Did the Cru have the option of wearing their white shirts and asking the Cowboys to wear their gold ones? It was hot on that field, and I have a feeling the big plays the defense gave up in the second half had something to do with the heat; I could be wrong.

Pat -- Thanks for the post and reminder (to us all). Interesting use of the word "reframed", though.
:D
I fixed my post for you....once again I forgot where I was...I was posting from a cellphone and wasn't able to run my post through word processor to make sure it was 100% gramatically correct. I'll try not to do that anymore....my apologies. As far as UMHB's history....of course they don't have 10 conference Championships...they've barely been playing football for 10 years. It's hard to compare a teenager to a senior citizen....but I think that comparison was made yesturday on the field. The young guys haven't been doing so bad as of lately.....

UMHB's stats.....10 seasons
ASC Championships....5
Playoff appearances...6
D3 record....................91-27
With one National Championship Appearance....for such a young program I would say their not doing so bad. Looks like 18 years for HSU....with 54 years of football prior to 1990. I would say HSU has been around for a little bit longer than UMHB.

Here's a 10 year comparison between the 2... ;)

HSU.....in the last 10 years
ASC Conference CHampionships.....6
Playoff appearances.......................5
Overall Record.................................92-16

Playoffs history in last 10 years....
1-Quarterfinals
1-Semifinals
3-First Round

UMHB...in the last 10 years
ASC Conference Championships....5
Playoff appearances......................6
Overall record..............................91-27

Playoff history in last 10 years
2-First Round
1-2nd round
1-National Champ Appearance
1-Semi
1-3rd round

HSU has more history than UMHB, but it's not because of winning percentages or playoff experience...it's due to having a team longer than UMHB. If UMHB starts football in 1990 when HSU brought football back...there's no telling what could of happened.

I was at UMHB in 1990 and if there had been a football team I can only guess what UMHB would look like today.  Football under Dr Parker  now that's an interesting thought.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I thought that Dr Bawcom was the difference in the athletic programs at UMHB.  Maybe, UMHB would be struggling at this time.

Or UMHB could of won 5 National Championships......who knows. Maybe HSU vs. UMHB wouldn't even be a rivalry game....maybe it would be just another routine slaughtering. Guess we'll never know now will we.... ;)

i was not able to go to the game, but my lil bro who played in the game said that if the refs would call holding on the oline they may not have given up so many yards on the ground. He stated the only holding call that was called on umhb was when they tackled him by his jersey. Not trying to take anything away from what sounded like a great game that HSU could have won by playing mistake free football, or creating turnovers for themselves. Good luck HSU now go and win out to march into the playoffs.

I will say that in 1990 at UMHB there was no band.  There were only about 400 beds in 4 dorms on campus.  There were no classes on Monday, so campus cleared every weekend for a long weekend.  The best athletic teams were the tennis team and the golf team.  Current campus buildings that did not exist:  The addition to Maybee, The Presidents House, McClane Hall, Remschel Hall, The Campus Apartments, The Maybee Complex,  The Christian Studies Building, The York Science Hall addition to Wells, A two-story library, the amphitheater, and the auxillary art building. There was no sports complex (actually Red Murff Field had not even been built yet).  Almost all of that was part of Dr Bawcom's vision.  I don't want anyone to think I believe Dr Parker was incapable of these things, Dr Parker was in charge when UMHB finally went fully Coed, which is no small accomplishment itself, but I don't think the school was in a position to be able to make that type of move in 1990.  Dr. Bawcom's desire to create a college type atmosphere and traditions created the environment in which football flourishes, so my guess is that if UMHB started football in 1990, the program would not have been very successful.  But s yessir said, We'll never know.

I'd say that cuts both ways.  There were 3 holding calls on UMHB and 2 on HSU.  The only HSU hold I remember was a call right in front of side judge, but that was certainly not the only hold I saw as Feaster was scrambling.  But what is they say,"you can call holding on every play if you look hard enough.  The refs did a pretty good job yesterday, and that's pretty high praise form a UMHB fan.   ;D
