And here are my predictions for this weekend's scores.

Mary Hardin-Baylor 32, Mississippi College 15 in 24 possessions
East Texas Baptist 23, Louisiana College 18 in 28 possessions
Hardin-Simmons 26, Howard Payne 20 in 24 possessions
Sul Ross State 30, McMurry 16 in 28 possessions
Let's go 'Nados!

The McM-SRSU game is the 79th in the series which dates back to McMurry's first season, 1923.  I believe that the HPU-HSU series started earlier than this one, but this series has the most games played.

McMurry leads 42-34-2.

Well, I just did another quick project. This time, the idea was to see which program had been the best over the last 5 years (2003-2007). I used the Game Efficiency stat I've posted about before, but used everyone's 5-year totals for all the inputs. Here are the results.

1. Mary Hardin-Baylor
5-Year GE: .259
High: .310, 2007
Low: .199, 2006

2. Hardin-Simmons
5-Year GE: .173
High: .332, 2004
Low: -.020, 2007

These computations are interesting seeing as your 2004 high stats for Hardin Simmons is the year the Cru went to the Stagg Bowl.  Did you just include conference games?

Nice article on the UMHB center from the Temple Telegram.  It sure is great to see a young man rise above his troubles!!  :)

Roocru, I just used the season totals, which I must admit probably doesn't do UMHB proper credit given their playoff runs against strong opposition.

HSU came out higher because, in 2004, they outscored opponents 485-190, while UMHB "only" outscored opponents 642-319 (counting playoff games). HSU's ratio of PF to PA is better, so they look better.

I have got to figure out a decent way of accounting for strength of schedule....

cowboyfan, that made me laugh.   :D  My son and I were talking about that prediction earlier today and how we thought it was bad.

etbu/lc score? nesodes what is on scoreboard. I cant get audio

I got it. Appears LC got the slight upset. Looks to be bad loss for etbu program, i say.

Good game in Belton today....

Cru defense played really good....Looks like Adam Aguilera and Brett Parker got banged up...that's not good.

Offense was a little sloppy....Saenz is a workhorse...I hope his body can withstand the beating he's been taking lately. Cru passed the ball pretty good today...lots of open recievers...couple of drops.

Overall it was an ok game....Thought the Cru seemed kind of flat. Like some of their excitement wasn't there. Hopefully their not getting into a "coasting to the playoffs" mode. That has created problems with UMHB in the past....(ETBU & HPU). Gotta get better every week.....

I was impressed with MC size...they were able to meet UMHB's physical play with a little of their own....No. 44 was a beast at running back. MC looked pretty good....

We sure need some people to get healthy....team kinda seems banged up right now. Good luck to everyone that traveled and be safe.....GO CRU!!!

HSU is rolling....keep this up guys.  Looks like the loss a couple weeks ago woke the big brother up.  Keep this up and the committee cant ignore us.  I am loving what I am seeing.

Just wanted to credit the MC coaches and players for a great effort today at UMHB. It says a lot about Coach Joseph that we've been able to switch from a high octane passing offense to bruising ground game in midseason and remain competitive.

Desmond Mays was the first player to go over the century mark against the Cru since the 2005 opener, and finished with 145 yards on 22 carries with 100 in the first half. That says something about him and also about our line which is very, very good. Not many teams put 183 yards rushing on a Cru defense.

We're 2-4, but this is a pretty good MC team. All four of our losses this season have been to Top 25 teams and all but the Millsaps season opener was very competitive. I wouldn't be shocked if MC has played the toughest schedule in the country to date. Our four losses are to #3 UMHB, #12 Millsaps, #16 HSU and NAIA #14 Cumberlands.

Good luck to the Cru the rest of the way. It takes a great program to go through 5-6 running backs and still be effective. Very impressive.

#8323
Massey ratings has Miss College at #15 schedule.  Closer review shows 7 NESCAC teams having more difficult schedules, but they should not be considered since they do not play out of conference, (IMHO).

To be fair, looks to me like the HSU/HPU was the only one way off so far. The UMHB/MC winner was correct and the scores were within the statistical probability and the standard deviation of the projection.

What were the final scores for SRSU/McM and ETBU/LC? That will show us more about CUAfan's system.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!
