More bad news for the Cru.  LB Jeremy Salinas is out after having surgery to repair a broken arm.  There was no mention of any returning RB's for the week in coach Fred's weekly press conference Monday, and it looks like Freshman Josh Landrum may get the start.  that would be the 6th starting rb this season.

Great! That is all we need. This just seems to be our year for the injuries. Landrum has played well, so I like seeing him on the field.  But what happened to Meyer?  The kid hasn't been back there since he went over 100 that one game.  Will he play LB since Salinas is out?

The Cru is 23-6 (79.31%) on the road since 2004 that is not bad when the look at there competition in 2004 won all conference games on the road beat Trinty, HSU, W&J, Mount Union, Only Road loss to National Champs.  2005 beat Willamette and won 3 conference game on road, loss to HPU (Bad Loss), Beat Trinty in 1st Round, 2006 Lose to CNU a Playoff Team year, And Whitewater a national finalist, 2007 only road losses come from Whitwater the National Champs. umhb 2001 I think if you look at all the road games the picture is differant, only one team in the playoff's come out with a win. The point you are trying to make, Has no substance, you are just trying to find an excuse for UMHB Loss.

I wouldn't get too concerned over UMHB losing on the road to Southern Oregon.  They looked like a good team to me.  It's the road game this week that is important.  The Cru road record over the past few years is one most teams would like to have!

I was looking squarely at games of when we had to fly.  So I went back and looked, and we are under .500, a record of 4-7.  Yes we played two national champions, but the fact remains that we have a championship type team, or at least have had.  I'm just saying that we should play better.  I'm not making an excuse, I'm just saying that we don't always look at these games as we should with expectant hearts and minds. We sometimes look at it as a "neat" trip, as I have heard from a reliable source that this is true.  If that is the case, then some type of preparation is not happening.

A loss in the national championship, 2 losses at Whitewater, 1 at CNU and 1 to Wesley.  Wins over Mt. Union and W&J.  These are all against quality opponents.  I think we also had a win over Willamette.  I don't think flying has anything to do with the losses.  It sure beats going by bus or not going at all.   ;D

Regional rankings are out.  I'm a little surprised by UMHB's position.

SOUTH REGION
1. Muhlenberg 7-0 7-0
2. Millsaps 6-0 7-0
3. Washington and Jefferson 6-0 7-0
4. Trinity (Texas) 6-0 7-0
5. Mary Hardin-Baylor 5-0 6-1
6. Hardin-Simmons 7-1 7-1
7. Huntingdon 1-0 7-0
8. Catholic 5-1 6-1
9. Salisbury 2-0 7-1

If these rankings stay like they are, I don't see UMHB getting a home game.

Bill McCabe

I'll admit I have never understood these rankings and how a team can go from 3rd in the nation, to 8th, and then be 5th in their region.  Must be new math!   :D

Completely objectively, Bill (et. al.), UMHB really isn't playing like the top 5 program they were projected to be right now.  A lot of that is due to injury, but nonetheless, it is what it is.

Do keep in mind RE: the regional rankings that Trinity will most likely drop below both UMHB and HSU if they lose this weekend, and Millsaps will drop (but not sure how far) if they lose.  Just because Muhlenberg and W&J are above both ASC teams, that does not mean either or both of them couldn't/won't get moved to another region to balance things out.  The East and West regions are looking a little thin right now...

Just my .02 worth.

I think you're spot on Josh.  With all of the injuries, this is not the top 5 team i expected to see this season, and i think they should have come down some in the polls.

If UMHB is not the top 5 team they were supposed to be at the beginning of the season maybe HSU should give back those 5 spots it gained in the polls by losing to them.

hey man are you paying attention....they've suffered a lot of injuries...thats why they arn't playing like a top 5 team. I'm sure everyone will tell you they played well against hsu, back when they were playing like a top 5 team. If you look at it hsu put a pounding on them as far as injuries are concerned, thats when they started falling off.

Toby Taff

Prior to the HSU game the only injury was Quincy Daniels.  Significant, certainly, but they still had several good RBs.  During the HSU Game, they lost the #2 RB, who was starting, and the number one receiver.  From there the injury bug was in free fall.  Last Saturday they started a true freshman at RB and he was backed up by a sophomore LB turned RB.  In case you didn't know, there's a drop off from 1500yd preseason all-american to true freshman who had been running on the JV team.

How do they decide what regional bracket plays each other? Is that predetermined already?

The regional ranking system is crazy, does anyone really think WWWater is the 4th best team in their region?
