A sincere congratulations to Mary Hardin Baylor in their win (or route) of Wesley today.  You played a physical game that took Wesley's offensive line and linebackers right out of it.  Keep it up and you will be seeing the Stagg Bowl again.  Well done!

Wow, what an amazing game! The Cru set the tone early and played exceptionaly well! I expected a well fought game, but have to say sort of surprised at this final! If our D plays like this from here on out, I don't imagine too much trouble! Be safe going home Wesley fans! See you in the future! I hope your time in Texas was good otherwise!

Root em on next week as I won't be there for a prior engagement. It kills me! :'(
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

The band and a cowbell...no fair  :'( Probably a good thing to drown out Coach Drass after that first half ;)

The mistakes hurt even worse when you consider that other than McSweeney this whole offense has been there before.

Good Luck to the Cru
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

congrats to umhb for an excellent game.  you took wesley out of it early and never let up.  the d line did a great job with pressure and the o line controlled the game.  good luck next week against wash and jeff.

roocru and toby taff, it was nice meeting you today.  you guys were right the b-b-q was excellent.  enjoy the games the rest of the way.  roocru, we will see you and your son at the stagg, it would be nice to have an additional routing interest in the game, so go umhb.

the folks in texas have been very hospitable and except for the result of the game the trip has been great.  heading out to bj's again to drown our sorrows with a couple of good microbrews :(.  i highly recommend the place to the locals if you have not already tried it.

Great win by the Cru today.  I thought there were several keys to the game today:

1.  Defensive speed.  Wesley could never cope with the speed.  Several sacks with a 3 man rush and they shut down Beavers.
2.  Offensive and defensive lines controlled the LOS.
3.  KICKING GAME.  Until Beavers return late in the game, UMHB completely dominated special teams play.

And I don't understand all the criticism about the UMHB running backs.  Tucker, Hurst and Sanchez are outstanding.

Good luck next week against W&J.

@d3jason

The Crusaders are peaking at the right time. Dominating performance today. Coach Fredenberg said it best at the post game press conference. It was the best game they played all year, The won in all three facets of the game.

Their offensive line was tremendous, Saenz was very efficient and accurate and made great decisions on the option. The two defensive tackles also played a tremendous game and got great push up the middle allowing the outside guys to contain McSweeny and get some sacks.

If UMHB continues to play at this level, they could very well find themselves back in Salem.

Pat,

I was looking through the Stagg Bowl Site under the Events Link, it shows the schedule of events but list MUC and UWW as the teams participating. Even though these teams may earn the right to play, obviously have not qualified yet.

It appears they are using 2007 timelines for the game, but last years teams. Am I looking at this incorrectly?

Probably not.....I know when we went in 04 all we heard all week was how Mount is ussually there....and that they want Mount to be there. Mount this and Mount that all week.....Host at the banquet even said...."We all wanted Mount to be here...." something of that nature.....so ur prolly reading it right.
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

or, one could logically conclude that they used last year's site as a template and haven't gotten around to updating it for 2008.

Ron -- Nah, that couldn't be it. That would not only make more sense, it would be the simplest explanation. If we bought that, what would we do with the chip we were getting ready to put on our shoulder and the righteous indignation we were already conjuring up? ;D
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Bill, RooCru, et. al. ...

Just because I'm a glutton for punishment, and I want to be driven bats, can you compare and contrast Wesley and HSU for me (since you guys saw both teams in back-to-back weeks)?

Congrats to the Cru, you always represent the ASC well. I didn't see that score coming but I guess it shows what pride and "having been there before" means in the playoffs. This isn't the most talented UMHB team to come through, but when you build tradition like they have no team wants to be the one to let it slip.

Good luck this weekend, would love to see you in the Stagg again. And it would have been nice to see what HSU could have done had our conference not been matched up again in the first round. I guess no one wants two teams in the Stagg from the same league.

Toby Taff

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

drinkxs.com

the players I spoke with felt hsu was a better team, the qb position for hsu was a major difference

What a great game the Cru played yesterday!
Onward to Salem!
