I can tell you the fans at Mount not only respect the MHB program (even if they did CHEAT in 2004  ;D), we would DEFINITELY welcome an opportunity to meet again (only this year in the Stagg).

what do you mean by that comment?

Sader.....yah.......the MHB players and coaches are REALLY fired up now due to all the "disrespect" they are receiving on this website.   ::)

They were banged up....they are now healthier than they have been all year.....hence...playing great football.

How did UMHB cheat?  I was at that game and don't remember anything like that.

I believe we would be playing HSU for the regional title this week.

Sorry to burst your Texas bubble, roocru, but UMHB/HSU Regional Final was impossible from the get-go.

UMHB was the #2 seed.  HSU was the #3.  They should have been lined up to meet in the region SEMIFINALS.  The 'AA's pennypinching made it one round earlier.

The flight restrictions moved Muhlenberg into the #2/#3 half of the bracket and moved Christopher Newport into the #1/#4 half.

Did UMHB/HSU happen earlier than it should have?  Yes.  One week.  1st round instead of region semifinals.

Could UMHB/HSU have been the region final?  Not in a traditional bracket, and not unless there was ANOTHER flying team in the opening round.

And, by the way, this post has nothing to do with whether W&J has addressed its perceived lack of team speed.  It has everything to do with bracketological inaccuracies.

Ralph,

thanks for pointing out that Sader is lacking in the people skills department. Anyone wanna take a bet on how many times this week he will make mention to "everyone overlooking umhb." As if Wesley didn't know and W&J doesn't understand how good the football team is they will face this week. Good luck to UMHB hope eveyone has a safe travel to the game and I'm hoping for an ASC win this weekend. Way to go Cru keep it up. I haven't heard much about W&J anyone have any interesting info about what kind of football team UMHB will see this weekend? Do they run the ball or pass? How does the W&J defense look?

From what I have seen from their statistics over the last few games, they have been ballanced.  I believe that they are more of a passing team, although they can run.  I don't see them getting too much in the run department against us, so I would expect a lot of passing.  I think our team is up to the challenge.  I have never seen them play better!  I believe we will see a closely fought game, not as many turnovers, but the score may be similar.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

To continue my last post, Jones, their RB, has rushed for over 100 yards both games. He has been VERY good it looks like.  Swallow, their QB, hasn't put up large rushing numbers, so perhaps our D line will be able to get to him, but he has been very accurate and has thrown for a large number of yards. I don't think they have faced a D like ours though, so it should be interesting.

Bob,

As a long time sufferer of the NCAA penny pinching, I am well aware of the playoff possibilities in the bracket.  ;)  I was speaking rhetorically to make a point.  I should have said I believe they UMHB and HSU were the best teams in the bracket and in an ideal bracket would be playing in the South finals.   I still believe they are the best two teams in the South unless W&J can prove me wrong this Saturday in Belton.  If that happens, I would then be mistaken in my assumption!   ;)  Thanks for the course in Bracketology!   ::)

Don't mistake lack of rushing yards for lack of mobility.  Swallow was very good at getting out of trouble when Millsaps was able to put pressure on him.  Plus, he was very good at throwing on the run when he was flushed out of the pocket.  Based on what I saw in the game last Saturday, the key for UMHB will be to limit the yards that Jones gains after contact.  He is a hard man to bring down and those extra couple of yards he kept getting after contact were the ones that allowed W&J to grind out long, time consuming drives.

That was a JOKE fellas..... ::)  (Meaning that the only way my beloved Mount could lose was because of some underhanded chicanery.)

Hopefully, MHB can take care of their business in the next 1 1/2 weeks, and Mount can do the same, and then we can really start the verbal jousting!

actually, its with a last second td pass.   ;)
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Mount Union had a 14 point lead late in the 3rd quarter.  I would love to see them play again, but this time not in the snow.

As a long time sufferer of the NCAA penny pinching,

The only thing, roo, is that the bracket matchup that you are longing for had NOTHING to do with penny pinching.

I wish W&J had their '94 defense to go with the '08 offense, but that isn't any more possible that your desire...

Good luck to the Cru on Saturday.  I hope you need it.

My biggest disappointment with Mount Union and UMHB playing in the Stagg is that with the early kickoff, someone's going to have to stay up all night long in order to show these "northern" southerners that real BBQ is beef brisket!

Ahh!  BBQ in Texas is beef.  Attempts at BBQ in other parts of the country may be other mammals or even the occasional road kill marsupial!   :D

I know Josh Welch was an option quarterback, but he did throw overhand. :)
