reality: In that regard a Bowdoin alumnus, Commander Robert E. Perry, is generally credited with being the first human to reach the North Pole, occurring in 1909.

reality: Bowdoin spells his last name Peary although other sources spell it Perry. I guess Bowdoin ought to know.

reality: In case you care, Peary was Bowdoin class of 1877, meaning he "discovered" the North Pole when he was approximately 54 years old. A difficult physical achievement for an old timer.

Puget Sound has funny man Steve Martin starting @ linebacker for them.

Even though it isn't D3, one of my favorite names was Allan Allen. He started @ WR @ Idaho about 10 years, playing alongside another great name receiver, Yo Murphy.
