Purple Heys

Cornell College's Freshman WR #88 Thaddeus Derbyshire sounds like a character from the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie.

...or, at 5'8" 162, a hobbit.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Gray Fox

Today I went to Sherman, Texas to catch a couple of quarters of the Birmingham-Southern at Austin College game.  The wide receivers coach for Austin College is named Austin Coachman.
The starting right guard for Austin is Patrick Coleman.  Sounds like a possible D3 Football All-American.

Yeah been meaning to revive this thread with Patrick Coleman. Good call.

This one I didn't believe was real:

I'm sure he gets tired of 90s R&B references from corny older folks. How many Tevins are there to begin with?

Here's an old school one.

Back in the day Northwestern College had a standout Linebacker named...

Kirby Scull

He was pretty good too. 3x All-Conference - 162, 188 and 180 tackles in the 1988-1990 seasons and he recorded 28 tackles in a game three times.

Linebacker Scull lived up to his name pretty well  :)

Rhodes has a freshman WR named Jonathan Wiener.

Before you start with the yuk yuks (or wonder why): Jonathan Wiener is also the name of the young man who made the play-by-play call on the Trinity-Millsaps Miracle play ten five years ago this year.

EDIT:  can't believe I whiffed on the date, thanks K-Mack!

Only because I have the mug on my desk at work, the date of the miracle was Oct. 27, 2007, or roughly five years ago.

Catholic and Lycoming have some good names.

I have to look the Lyco ones up but I remember liking some off that roster
