Mount Union and Smuckers

Man, that has to be good 8)

I read somewhere that this combination is indeed good...can't remember where I read it though.

Coaching Dream - This would seem impossible, if it weren't true: 28th Consecutive Championship.

Figured I'd beat 70's to the "Wooster and MUC should play" punch with the following:

Wooster Head Coach Mike Schmitz was quoted in today's Canton Rep as saying the following when asked about playing MUC at the HOF luncheon:

"I'll tell you what I've told Larry (Kehres) to his face. Playing you Week 13 would be just fine. We don't need to play you Week 1."

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I wonder why he prefers week 13.  If you're going to dodge someone until the playoffs, why make it the second round?  Why not got all the way to week 16 so you can at least make it to Salem?  I guess his dream is to lose to Mount in the regional semifinals instead of shooting for a loss a little later in the playoffs.  It's important to have goals you know!?!

Maybe he's just bowing to the reality of d3?  How long can a NCAC team avoid an OAC team in the playoffs?!

Being a CCIW guy, I can identify.  Over the last 8 years, our rep (or reps) are 10-0 against everyone else, 1-11 against the OAC!  Our sole win was over BW in 2003; otherwise we are 0-1 vs ONU, 0-2 vs Cap, and 0-8 vs MUC - OUCH! :'(

Pat Coleman

Maybe he didn't realize there's no bye week anymore.

I still gotta think Wooster is far better off losing to Mount Union than beating Kenyon.

Of course playing anybody in week 13 is great

Looks like he gained alot of weight (342 lbs at 6-5...) He was listed at 317 or something like that during the season. Thats a lot of weight to pack on. His numbers are not outstanding either. 21 lifts and not great running times even though he is an OL. Maybe a Guard type, but he needed to have a better lifting turn out to impress any scouts.

He was absolutly great for MU and to be sure I would love to see another D-III guy make the pros, but I don't think he did enough to impress at the BGSU pro day.

Weak, slow and DIII makes one O-U-T, out.

70's                        thanks for the rep. article on  Schmitz.  I see his philosophy on playing Mt. hasn't changed.  I hear from some active sports fans and supporters at COW that he isn't that popular  there  either.  If his thinking is correct [ won't play Mt. because he will loose] I wonder how many other schools in the OAC would back off if given the choice?

Trusnik is on that workout list and his numbers are pretty darn impressive.  JCU's Joseph Konrad has a review as well.  The review of Trusnik has hims running 4.67 40's, a comparitively fast short shuttle and cone drill and some impressive athletic marks in broad jump and vertical.  I know it's a long shot for sure but he certainly didn't hurt his chances with his performance at pro day.

For what it's worth, Trusnik's 40 time is faster than any of the other D-III players on that list (including RB's and WR's).

I didn't see any info on the TE from Wisconsin (Allen?) although I know he's getting some serious consideration.
