I think the weighted confidence factor would satisfy both sides.  You can have a national game weigh more than any others if  you choose to or you can  pick an OAC game with the highest value.  I think it's going to be tough to get some posters to pay attention but that's their loss if they can't play by or remember the rules.

That said, even with my meager ONU education, I think I could figure things out by week 5 or 6.   ;)

Raiderguy I never said I didn't want any national games.  But if this is a OAC pickem contest the weight of the picks should be OAC games.  That's why historically there have been just a couple national games each week.  If you have as many national games as you do OAC games it is no longer a OAC pickem.  If you weigh the national games with twice as much value as the OAC games it also can't be a OAC pickem. There are plenty of other boards to go to if you want to pick nationally.  The intent of the OAC pickems when I ran it, and I think it still is today, is to find out who does the best job picking OAC games that year.  That isn't done if at the end of the day you pick 55 OAC games and 55 national games, or if you pick 55 OAC games worth one point and 25 national games worth two points.  To me that makes no sense in the context of what we are doing.  Additionally, HScoach picking a spread in national games is more of a guess for the most part than when he is picking a spread for OAC games, of which he see's each team play and has a much better feel.  So now you want to put more weight on those games and I just don't see why we would want to do that? But that's just my opinion.

Pat Coleman

If you have five OAC games a week worth one point each and one or two national games worth two points each the OAC games still have more value.

Food for thought.

What is the OAC pick-em? Not trying to be funny or stupid here.

I think it comes down to an interpretation of an OAC Pick-em. If that is the intention then have no games outside the conference...an "OAC PICK-EM".

If we are putting other conferences in our OAC Pick-em then it just means this is a pick-em on the OAC board not limited to OAC teams. At least that is my interpretation. That is up to hscoach and how he wants to run the contest. It really doesn't matter to me 'cause I will play anyway. Is the horse dead yet?

As usual Pat comes to the party with logic and a menu with his food for thought.

hs...week 5 or 6! what a great OAC pick-em mind! LOL  ::) Could you send me the "Cliff's Notes" on this when you decide?

When this started, oh I don't know, 7 or 8 years ago, it was just OAC teams.  Later a national game of interest was added.  OAC pickems is not something I made up that's what its always been called, probably for lack of a better name.

Rocky getting to play again and test that "Childhood Injury".  Check out the lead story on the Main Page:

Saw the story about Team USA this morning but had no time to post my congrats to Rocky.  It sounds like a pretty cool opportunity to avoid hanging up the cleats and playing while representing your country.  Good stuff.

Whatever is decided on the OAC Pick Em's format, I'll be playing but I expect to blow pick after pick in my conference while dominating the NCAC Pick Em's just like last year.

First, Congratulations on post #1600!

I get it, so it really doesn't matter to me. I think it is hilarious the current vote is exactly tied between the points issues with a 33.3 percent per choice.  ;D

Congrats to Rocky... Getting ever closer to football season..
My outlook on the season and predictions

Mount- will be as good if not better than last season. tough losing Lewis on the line.   Garcon is going to be great along with Kmic

Cap- Qb will be the main position to fill...New running back, and will be replacing an All-American center

Ott- with tranfers could be good.. Coming off a rather dissapointing season... Conclusion-are going to need more than tranfers to turn it around

ONU- All around average talent... no big holes in offense or defense... Losing Trusnik will hurt, but only against the weaker teams

BW- if they ever get the offense rolling they will be fine.. defense ranks high in the league

JC- sleeper team.. enough talent that they could pull a huge upset this year

Marietta- .500 team

Musk- new coach... same talent.. dont expect much

Wilm- no comment

Student Princess's- their team name... enough said

Wish I could agree but your analysis of ONU is so far off I don't really know if I want to believe anything else you typed about the league.

ONU has more question marks and holes to fill than any time in recent years.  We need Pankratz to step into the starting QB position and lead.  Everything I hear is that Meadows is looking great but he is coming back from a significant injury.  The same goes to Gunter at the cover corner.  And ONU needs to find a playmaker in the receiving corps.  Defensively ONU should be solid and fill the gaps but there are still lots of question marks I am confident will be answered but at this point remain undetermined.

And BW should be real tough in 2007.  They lost very little (Hedges was a solid RB but a compiler, not a star runner) off of a very good 2006 squad.  They get the QB back healthy.

I do agree with two things: your take on Cap and the fact that Mount is scary good given the outlook for the rest of the OAC and what the Raiders have returning.

Capital has bigger shoes to fill at safety.  The graduation of the Hausler twins will be missed more than Rocky.

1.  MUC-loaded

2. Cap-favorable schedule,  with the tough teams at home and later in the year it will give the new guys time.

3.  JCU-BW-ONU  the only reason I gave Cap the nod was due to their schedule.

Should be another great year.

Reality Check
Having watched ONU and played against ONU the 3 previous seasons I think they will be fine... They are a team that has good coaching and brings in talent year and year out...

I will take your word on ONU since u are the biggest fan of theirs on here..

cufan
enormous loss yes with the Hauslers being finished... Losing Rocky is way worse... He was the offense the last 4 years.... I think Capital will be fine with who they have on defense... Offense is going to be the question mark

I believe Sickmier graduating last season had more of an impact on the D then will the hauslers...

2003 8-2 without Kyle
2005 10-3 without Thom

u take Rocky out of either of those 2 years and we finish .500

cufan

Those years yes, this year Assman will handle the duties just fine.  He will not put up the great throwing numbers Rocky did but he will give the O a huge advantage with his running ability.  I think Kyle's loss showed in the 2 MU games.  Without Kyle beat down with Kyle could of gone either way.

I just watched a replay of the 1995 Orange Bowl between Nebraska and U. of Miami.  The demeanor of Coach Osborne on the sidelines reminded me a lot of Coach Kehres.
