JK,

I was in Lexington over the weekend.  We took our team via bus from Chester, SC to Lexington, KY for UK's 7 on 7 tournament and Big Man Challenge.

You should have dropped me a line, but I am glad you had a good time.  Lexington is really a nice city... small enough that you don't have all the traffic and problems like that, but big enough that you can get pretty much whatever you want.

I have yet to pass through the doors of the Atomic Cafe, but I have several Cadets who frequent it.  By all accounts, it seems your typical college bar.

If you get back this way, let me know.

I didnt even think about you being in Lexington til after I was already there.  The fact that Atomic Cafe is a typical college bar was the main appeal ;D They grow em pretty in Kentucky.

I am in love with the video coordinator for the womens basketball team.   Lovely lady.

When my player gets there, we should make it up there at least once a year for a game.

By the way, throwing all things out, such as history and mystique, but Kentucky has as nice of a stadium as you will find in the SEC.

I haven't been to a lot of the SEC stadiums like I have Big 10, but I do agree that Commonwealth is a nice facility.  I also assume you were in the Nutter Fieldhouse and Nutter Football facility.  Also both nice, but certainly not Ohio St. caliber.

Say what you will about the man (and many Kentucky fans seem to dislike him), but AD Mitch Barnhart has dramatically improved the facilities and the athletic program as a whole at UK.

If you make it up to a UK game, please drop me a line.  Not sure if I will be able to join you as we have several weekends in the fall when we are conducting training of some sort.  However, one of the other guys who works here lives within walking distance of the stadium (a block from the intersection of Alumni and Limestone), and you can park at his place for free if I tell him when you will be there.  If we're not around, his wife will be.

I went to WVU's orientation with Jr.ette this past week, unfortunately she won't be playing football. I am in a real quandary. I am a big OSU fan, Jr., hopefully, will be playing for Marietta, and now I need to support my daughter at WVU. It looks like all my weekends this fall will be all about football. I guess it is not a quandary after all. I just thought I would chime in since the board is a little slow with posts right now.

JK,

Thats something to consider.  Thanks.  I am under the assumption that with one kid committed to UK and another still thinking about it(#9 corner in the country according to Rivals.com and #5 according to scout.com) the coaching staff will be able to work something out for us, within NCAA rules.

Hey! Just be glad the bridge across the Ohio River isnt a toll bridge ;D

Imagine the expense of tuition at two schools simultaneously ( and one of them out of state tuition at that) and then having to pay tolls to go back and forth to see em play. There ought to be a law against it!

At least you have 2 kids in college, be glad for that.

Seventies,
If you are coming back through Minneapolis give a holler and maybe we can have a beverage before your return to the Buckeye State. Mall of America and a huge water park hotel next door. Just an invite if it fits into the plans.

Your son is wise beyond his years...... Now they have done the unspeakable..can't beat us so snag one of us. I don't think it is going to be a factor. I assume you have read about their QB transfer from CA. A one year wonder to try and  turn things around.

I hear we have another strong class from FLA including a receiver that could look very nice in patterns across from Pierre! I don't have any other details but that would be sweet. ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Uhh, you guys have like five alumni as head coaches. Did they all do the unspeakable?

Meanwhile the rest of the nation sighs and says "Ugh, here we go again..."

P.S. this isn't meant as a shot just a truism  :P

reality check

JK, elee

I have been down to see a game in Lexington too and was quite impressed with the stadium.  My future wife was going to school at UTK and we met halfway for a Vols/Cats game.  I thought UK's facilities far exceeded my expectations.  We actually ran into our family's veterinarian all the way down in Lexington from Dayton.  His son was at UK for an official visit but ended up being the starting QB at Miami after Big Ben.  Imagine our surprise when we saw our vet walking up the aisle to his seats 180 miles from home.

All I knew about Lexington in my travels up and down 75 to and from Knoxville was the Hooter's.  BillyRayJimBob ought to like hearing that if he's reading.

A little harsh, don't you think? Playing for a national championship two years in a row is hardly a program that needs to, " turn things around."   And I am sure that the new OC was hired because he played for MUC over 15 years ago and not because of his coaching accomplishments since:  (sarcasm smiley)   ??? ::)

" Zebrowski comes to the Warhawk football program with more than 15 years of high school and college football coaching experience. Under his direction, he led Lakeland College to a combined 2003-2006 team record of 28-12, back-to-back Illini-Badger Football Conference (IBFC) championships and the school's first playoff berth in 2005.
Named IBFC Coach of the Year twice (2004 and 2005), Zebrowski was also named the 2005 Wisconsin Private School Coach of the Year and American Football Monthly's Top 80 Hottest Coaches in 2005. Currently, Zebrowski is IBFC president and is a member of the NCAA North Region Football Committee, the American Football Coaches Association and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association."

Seeing that Marietta opens up with the toughest opponent in the country other than maybe Averett...I took a look at the rest of the OAC.

Very impressive scheduling!  There is only one opener with a team with a losing record from 2006.  The team with the distinction of playing the 'weakest' opener....ONU.  Last year, the '07 opening opponents had a winning percentage of 67% and three of the teams were in the play-offs.

For kicks, I compared that with the NCAC that opens with only three winning teams...could stretch that to four as Franklin is both the opener for OWU & Wabash.  After opening with winning teams, the second game for three of the four play 1-9, 3-7, and 3-7 teams.

C'mon man, seriously.  If you haven't been to our board before (and since I am a regular and haven't seen your name appear before, I can only assume that to be the case), a lot of comments on here are made tongue in cheeck or with a healthy dose of sarcasm.  One can only assume that the original comment that got you so fired up is just Mount fans (of which I am NOT) being Mount fans.  They have the good fortune of rooting for the best D3 team in the land over the course of the last decade or so.  I can also assure you that since Zebrowski is one of their own, they are fully aware of his accomplishments.  One thing that can be said for MUC fans is that they are knowledgeable, especially about their own.  I understand sarcasm sometimes doesn't translate well into type, but don't get too upset about an apparently sarcastic shot at the team MUC has beaten for the championship two years in a row.

JK:  do you think it would be over the top if I said something like "maybe WWW will finally live up to their great potential with a MUC grad leading the O?"

Nah, that's probably OK.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
