Spence, The target date for Mt. to wane in football will happen as you predict.  However, you will have to wait until  coach LK hangs them up.   Just ask Gags at St. Johns when that feeling of no football to coach will happen.

Let's hope LK keeps the coaching fire burning as long as Gagliardi has!

off topic and I apologize...

realitycheck...how about that news helicoptor accident in Phoenix on Friday??

Filming high speed pursuits is big business out there....I wonder if its going to change anything.  As it is right now....helicoptors can fly anywhere as long as they are below a ceiling that has been set...

NOT OFF TOPIC.....how many times do you think the "move up to D2" has been brought up in here since postpattern's inception??

It was crazy.  I happened to be on my way to a meeting at my company's offices downtown and we were only about five blocks from the crash site.  I've heard that the guy who was running will probably be charged some way for the helicopter crash which I believe is bogus.  He's a deadbeat criminal but it isn't his fault that the news copters crashed.  The stations ought to be blamed first for pushing so hard to get the scoop and story.

It was sad either way.

Heidelberg will wear a new helmet this season.  It will have to get more wins than the last one.

Congrats to all 10 OAC'ers who made the D3football.com pre-season AA team.  MUC boasts 6, BW has 2 representatives, and ONU and CAP have one each.  It's scary to think that a guy like Micheli was the back-up for most of the 2006 season and managed to show his potential so well in the playoffs and as a backup that he gets the bote for second team QB.  Impressive.

I guess the only thing left now is for those days to whisk by and for us to get to kickoff already.

Kenyon's not in the OAC.

I never said the pack would catch up to Mount anytime soon, just that with passage of x amount of time and change, it will happen someday.

OSU's not nationally competitive in baseball and it's not even the best program in the weakest region for the sport in D-I. They haven't been close in women's basketball either since Katie, getting a bloated 1 or 2 seed and bowing out in the second round isn't contending. The only time OSU has played to seed under Foster is when they were a 6, and yes, losing in the second round.

LSU has been to 4 straight women's final 4's, went to the men's final 4 two years ago, won football and won 5 baseball titles.

Texas has won football, baseball and women's basketball (not recent, but they have won one) and been to a recent final 4 in men's basketball.

Point is that Grand Valley's in a unique position among non BCS schools athletically and comparing them and Mount Union is apples and oranges. GVSU could probably move up to I-AA, there's no way anything but football would be even passable in D-II at Mount and the school would lose millions of dollars a year.

From the Canton Suppository:

BEREA Northwest High School graduate Scott Weber, who attended Division II Ashland University last season, has transferred and will play football at Baldwin-Wallace.

At Northwest, Weber earned 10 varsity letters, including four each in football and wrestling and two in track and field. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Weber will look to compete for playing time at running back.

Weber was the 2005 Division III Offensive Player of the year and was named to The Repository's Stark County all-star team for a second straight season. Weber finished his career with a Stark County-record 4,891 yards and 72 touchdowns. Overall, he scored a Stark County record 466 career points.

reality,

thats nuts how close you were....but as far as the driver being charged for those 4 lives lost, I think its just.  I used to work in the tire deflation device field and the videos that I used to see (that aren't released to the public) would make you change your mind.   IMO, its no different than that driver hitting a parked car with an elderly woman in it.

And by the way, Phoenix has the craziest chases....I've seen stolen cement mixers, the highway trucks (with the big flashing arrows), and I've seen a bus all running from police in the Phoenix area.

I don't know of another school in any division that is regionally to nationally competitive in all four.

Spence

You said "regionally to nationally competitive", not in a championship game every year.  By your original criteria, OSU is right there.  I just used the criteria you typed and I can't help the fact you didn't mean what you wrote.  Weak region or not OSU baseball has been "regionally to nationally competitive" just like you wrote.

Bottom line is that we both agree MUC has no business moving up.

Good article on Bill Walsh:

Anybody who thinks MTU should move up doesn't understand what they're talking about or is just slow upstairs (I didn't say stupid, thought it, but didn't say it).
