Mapquest says 8 hours 50 min. but by the time momma checks out every rest stop and everything else she wants to see, and I stop 10 times for food, it will take me 12 hours. I hope not cause I wanted to see the hall of fame, but we will see.

Tell her the HOF has some really nice bathrooms.

First freshman game tommorow.  It's officially football season.  I can't wait but I feel our freshmen have a rude awakening Wednesday.  On the bright side, I'm pulling, trapping and kicking out better than ever; I can't say the same for my kids.

The link is to an article in today's Canton Rep.  Probably need to fill out a registration to read it, but it's free and painless to do.

Couple interesting tidbits from the article:

Kehres' goal on offense is to be more balanced after Mount Union was run-heavy down the stretch and in the playoffs in '06.   "Offensively we were a yo-yo," Kehres said. "Some games we didn't throw at all. We want to be more balanced with the run and pass and stick with it every game."

"Defensively last year ... we were inconsistent," Kehres said. "We want to get back to that consistency this year."

2nd ranked defense in all of D3 was described as inconsistent by LK?  Should make for an interesting '07 season if LK is putting even more emphasis on the D.

I'll be out of town on Thursday and Friday so here's my last reminder to join the '07 OAC Pick-Em contest on the General Football forum.

Does Mount Union have a freshman team in addition to JV?

Blutarsky

All of Mount's 3,000 freshmen will dress for the JV....there is not a separate team.

Been gone a while, only popping in here and there.

RC,

Are you coaching football? I remember you being interested in teaching.  If so, welcome to the fraternity.

Big Muskie

Just saw Muskingum's new helmets on their website.  To be honest, I'm really on the fence about them.  I really liked the red oval with the white block M in the middle.  Either way, I just hope the Muskies pick a uniform style and helmet logo and stay with them.  Nothing drives me crazy like colleges always tweaking their uniforms every couple years like a high school team.  College football is about tradition!  You don't see Ohio State or Notre Dame or Penn State or St. John's or Mount changing their unis everytime Nike comes out with a trendy new design.  Worst uniforms ever: Oregon, Miami, WVU--anything with those pointy half stripes on the pants make me want to gag!  And yes, Muskingum had those last year, as did half the high schools in America.    There's nothing like good ole' full stripes on the pants.

I haven't followed Muskie Football very long, so the new logo doesn't bother me too much. Not sure I like the fish on there, but....

I'm a simple man, so the block M was fine with me.

It's only Wednesday and we already have 28 participants in the OAC Pick-Em's!  Hopefully we can top the 33 pickers we had last year.

At this point, the Toss-Up of the Week is clearly the Muskingum at Waynesburg game as it's split exactly 50/50.
