QuoteAlso, the Johnnies have a huge roster but no JV or Freshman team.

Why not?

Just part of John's philosophy.  Plus, you need need extra resources (coaches, time) to field a JV team.

A tradition unrivaled...

Sure you need more resources but you allow a lot more kids to have this experience.  Why not spread it around.  It works well at MUC and I think LK and John are more alike than different.  So I am at a loss to try and find a real negative in having JV football.  It makes no sense to have a bunch of guys on the team when their is no chance of ever seeing a playing field.

Here is a link for those of you interested in the St. John's and Marietta game. Interesting comments from Coach Wiese. Goooooo Pios!

reality check

Saw 2minuteO's caption about Rocky living on at Cap as a coach so I checked out the media guide/coaching staff.  I don't see any mention of Pentello but I have no problem believing he is helping out at CAP.

Does anyone know the story though on CAP Sr. WR Dre Riddick?

I did a little web-surfing when I saw he was previously a Buckeye and read that he was on the OSU roster up until the championship game this past season.  He never saw the field at OSU but was a valuable scout team player.  He apparently found out he had one more semester of eligibility per NCAA rules and chose to attend CAP for football although he already graduated from OSU in early 2007.  Kind of a weird story but he kind of looks like a "hired gun" to me.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

FINALLY D3 FOOTBALL SEASON IS UPON US...GOOD LUCK TO ALL...

I also believe that BW could be the surprise #2 this year in the OAC...Defense is excellent, they give Mount fits...the young RB looked good last season and the punter should keep teams from having short fields for TD drives...

I  want to with Mike Hallett good luck in his opener at Berg...Mike is a good guy and put it on the line for the Raiders in  their first natl. championship... where else but Heidleberg can you go, win four and maybe get picked as the  conference coach of the year...(any thing is possible)

Hey is KC Keeler still at Delaware?

Are we really sure Rocky is gone at Cap? I haven't seen them take the field yet....

I think it'd be a good thing, too, but don't expect to see it anytime soon.  John is in his 80s and what he's been coaching for a looooooooooong time with no JV team, so I can't imagine him making a change.

People that say stats don't give a good representation of what actually happens doesn't like what they say.  Period.  kcreds I'm liking your posts less and less everytime you say something.  Here's something else for you.  Your best running back last year ran for 200 something yards.  For the year.  To be a good football team you must be able to run the ball and stop the run.  Twist what I say or read into what I say all you want.  I didn't spend a considerable amount of time posting that first post.  I did it in less than 10 minutes.  And I posted what I thought about the MIAC because someone said Marietta will be the best team St. John's plays in the regular season, which I don't agree with at all.  You saying "duh" about my point like I'm an idiot pisses me off.  Talk about being respectful.  Good luck to all the OAC teams this weekend!

kcreds

I apologize Ric for the duh comment. You are the one who warned me not to let my feelings get hurt.

I stated that stats ARE a good indicator of who is suppose to win. I also stated that the team that suppose to win on paper doesn't some times. Yes it is a hope I hold onto because I am not an MU fan and I know my team will not be favored against stiff competition like the Johnnies. I'm sorry if I misunderstood you but a team in all sports have won championships with lousy stats. I consider Marietta a good football team based on wins and who they beat. I agree their stats were sad but hey they beat ONU and BW last year, givem some lovin. I guess it comes down to definition of what people consider a good team. I believe, no matter their stats, if they are competitive they are good. If your opinion is only the teams that can compete with MU or have good stats no matter their record are good, then I can understand that. I don't believe the person who stated that Marietta would be the best team STJ will play was being serious. Someone needs a nice Crown and Coke and just relax. I agree to just disagree on the stats thing, okay? I'm also okay with you critiquing my posts. What is great about this site is that everyone does not think the same and that is okay with me. Let me reiterate, the duh comment was disrespectful and I again apologize.

I now need to get to bed because I have to get up early in the morning to get to the airport and on to Johnnie land! Goooooo Pios!

Wow.  I go out of town for 2 days and the place blows up.

The Marietta defense last year was horrible.  Period.   And unless it improves a ton, their looking at 3-7 this year.

I'll be very shocked if Etta covers the spread.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Interesting that Marietta is getting 35.5 on the OAC Pick 'Em but only 24.5 on the MIAC Pick 'Em.  FWIW, I don't even have the Johnnies covering the 24.5, but I'm always a little pessimistic.

Kickoff in just over 14 hours!

That would be a big accomplishment since they do not play until next week.
