Congrats to WR Peter Spachner for JCU .....in beating Wooster with his 5 Receptions for 79 yards....being the leading receiver for the game...

OACFB

13-0 win by CAP? Looks like life without Rocky will be... well rocky... but a win is a win. Seems like the OAC faired ok in the first week. Heard Mount is opening with App. St. next year... :D

I can't imagine that either Mount Union or Averette learned a thing from today's game.  I suppose it is difficult to convince any team, other than a patsy, to open at MUC.  ;)

MUC was running accross the ticker on the Tennessee/Cal first half for their NCAA record first quarter scoring...

Yeah, I was sitting at our local B-Dubs watching the TVs, and saw the MUC remark on the bottom ticker of the ABC broadcast of the California/Tennessee game, and later, on the bottom ticker on ESPN. It kinda caught me off guard, but made me feel good, wearing my Raiders hat and all.

Speaking of those bottom tickers...  Sitting at the same B-Dubs on Wednesday, watching something on ESPN-U, the last five NCAA Div III football national champs rolled across the bottom.  According to that ticker, Linfield is in "(OH)" vice "(OR)."  I guess that no one proof reads anything anymore.  OR...  Is Linfield really in Ohio, and they are located somewhere behind Wooster in order to duck playing MUC in a week one game some year?!?!?!  (Now, now ... that is just a joke, son!)

Finally, there is a Suddenlink cable company commercial that has been playing for at least three months down here (Lousy-ana) where, over the right shoulder of the actor playing a therapist/counselor, there is a diploma sitting on the bookshelf that I am certain says "Baldwin Wallace College."  If there is a connection, I guess that is why the therapist/counselor is wearing a pink shirt ... it looks far more manly/presentable than something along the lines of the B-W uniforms!  (Now, now, now ... just another joke, kiddo!)
Cheers, folks!

Also, kudos for not running up the score (And I'm being serious)...the score could have been over 100!!

Actually 200 was realistc for a while. 8) 8)

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Being primarily a DIII fan, I do not understand this App. State "used to be IAA, but now..." would someone explain to me the current status of schools like App State , Youngstown, Delaware, etc...have the divisions undergone a radical change?  thanks

1-AA is renamed/reorganized as the "Football Championship Subdivision" below the Football Championsip guys. Beyond That-Don't Know/Don't Care ;)

No change ... just a renaming.  Maybe the NCAA thought the term "I-AA" was demeaning.  In any case, they renamed I-A and I-AA to "Division I Football Bowl Subdivision" and "Division I Football Championship Subdivision", respectively.  Quite a mouthful, eh?  I've not yet seen an abbreviation, but would guess I-FBS and I-FCS.

The schools and media were directed to start using those terms earlier this year, but nobody like them.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Jason Trusnik was cut by the NY Jets.  No word yet on the possibility of signing on with the practice squad although I think he is a desirable candidate.

Until next year, when St. John Fisher does it.  Overall, even with a loss I think a out of region team (that has a chance to make the game respectable) can gain a lot by playing Mount Union.

UW-Whitewater was Mount Union's opener a few years back.

UW-Whitewater was Mount Union's opener a few years back.

UWW played MUC in the 2002 opener and lost 44-21.  Coaches at the time said they wanted the team to get a good look at what an elite D-3 program looks like and to measure themselves against the best to see what they had to do to get to the next level.  Guess it worked!   ;) :D ;D

I want to offer congrats to Mount Union and say to the rest of the OAC, you better be ready. This years Mount team (in my opinion) is stronger, faster and has more guns.

I also want to say that the entire Mount Union organization is first class, from the players (great sportsmanship) to the coaches and especially the head coach. He is a first class act. I was thinking one time that they would have to go out and get another score board and realized that 200 points wasn't impossible. I knew we were young but didn't have a clue how young until yesterday. If I know Dunlevy (and he is a first class coach as well) he will have the team in front of the projector tonight and the team will bounce back.

I met some fine folks from Mount Union, everyone was friendly and supportive. I got to meet some of the faithful who post on this site and I really enjoyed talking to you all. Again, first class. Good luck and I am positive you will be in the Stagg Bowl again this year.

The only thing negative from this weekend that I want to comment on is "I HATE THE PA. TURNPIKE"

Kcreds - I agree Marietta has a very good chance of coming home a winner. The Pois are the best team The Johnnies will see all year and St Johns has lost a few season openers in recent years. It all depends on how successful they have been at filling spots like QB. Hey, bring home a winner. ;D

And as it turns out, they might be the worst ... :)

While they didn't have to do what LK did (truly class the way he tried to call off the dogs -- I hope folks realize all the things he tried), SJU eased up early and the two scores came in the last 3 1/2 minutes.
