Let me get this straight, I offended someone because I have faith in and support my son and his team, okay. ::)

First, I never said you "offended" anyone.  Second, no one is telling you not to support your son or his team.  "Supporting" your son and his team does not necessarily include arguing that they can beat a DIII powerhouse, and if I'm not mistaken, saying that the Pios are the best team the Johnnies will play all year.  Finally, maybe people have a problem with you because you seem to have a problem letting things go.

For anyone interested www.jcusports.com is up and running.  Should be easier to find the individual team pages now.

It's a given on this board as in life that people talk mostly out of emotion rather than logic.

It was a setup for our resident ONU fan ... any time now ...

Sorry I'm slacking....gameday for my freshmen.

So umm, for that "reality check"...

Pentello was a better QB than Vrable.  Pentello is the most important player in Capital football history but his absence will be felt less than Vrable's who was at best the third best Pioneer football player in the last 20 years.

Happy now Pat?!?   ;)

SaintsFAN:  I wonder sometimes why there isn't more posters from other teams in the OAC on here. There are several new ones but how long will it last. Is this board and as you alluded to the NCAC board for only Mount Union and Wabash fans. If so, I will bow out graciously. I am however a little puzzled what happened on the NCAC board.  ??? It was actually the contrary, I based my hope on what I saw and not the stats. The stats definitely proved otherwise. You can ask any of the STJ's fans I met in person, I was far from being confident. What I cannot understand is why a poster gets chastised if he supports his team, his son, and defends any attacks with intent to belittle the same. I have never backed down to bullies and I won't here. Pat, you may as well kick me off. I understand that there are posters that have been on here forever and I have high respect for them. However, I have a mind of my own and I don't take what they state as gospel. I enjoy this board and I enjoyed the NCAC board. I think some people were excited that I was supporting Marietta on here until I said they could win in comparison to, I know my team stinks and we will get killed. Sorry, I'm not like that. My short visit on the MIAC board and meeting STJ fans, and a Mount fan, showed me true fan class. They appeared never to be offended by any of my statements and never slammed Marietta when they predicted a STJ win. This board played a big part in getting me with the right people at STJ and making my experience more enjoyable. I will never forget it and thank God for Pat for making it possible. I will continue to post on here until Pat kicks me off. Sorry, MU, Capital and ONU have great teams but there are other OAC teams that deserve support. As always, Goooooo Pios!

I NEVER stated that Marietta will be the best team STJ's would play nor did I support that notion. I did state the person who did state that had to be kidding.

I'm glad Appy State bought into the emotion aspect of sports and not just show up and take their whipping.

RC, I totally agree with you that Vrable will be missed more than Pentello. With that said, I still have faith that Marietta will be competitive. I am prepared to be wrong and will admittedly state so when the season ends and Marietta finishes 7th or below. Until then I will continue to look at the positives and support them.

reality check

I WANT Marietta to be competitive.  I HOPE they improve after the STJ loss.  I just DOUBT what I want and hope will happen.  That's my unemotional, unbiased, slightly-educated prediction/expectation.

As for board representation, it ebbs and flows with the success of the schools for the most part.  There are exceptions to that rule. (I consider myself one of them since I'm as active when ONU is under NCAA investigation as I am when they're playing in the playoffs or upsetting Mount.) I'm not knocking the loyal Capital posters that are still here but if you think about it, their participation and posting has collectively decreased since the 2006 season ended.  And correct me if I'm wrong old school post patterns posters, but my take is that this was to be expected.  When BW had Larlham, we heard from BWdad and a few other Jacket fans but they high-tailed it out when the grass got a little less green.  That said, I hope the few Musky fans we have lurking along with the other Etta fans and our new JCU supporter continue to stick it out and actually post.  Your shools aren't supported on here if you lurk...only if you post.  So please post and let us know these programs have loyal supporters in the forum.

SaintsFAN: Just a clarification because I am not sure you will get my email. I sent emails to others and they didn't get them. I'm sure it is something I'm doing wrong. My son did not play for OWU last year because he had a bulging disk. He knew he wanted to transfer to Marietta last fall and did so in January. We attended a few of the Pioneer games last year so I am familiar with what they had. We also only live 5 mins. away so I am very familiar with their past. Knowing their past is why I am excited about the future. They couldn't win to save their lives but the last couple of years has been positive and I wanted to build on that. Yes, they could very well start a new losing streak and if so I will be heartbroken more so from that than from what anyone states on this board. I have never intended to sound over confident about Etta, just hopeful. Optimists look for opportunity in calamity and pessimists look for calamity in opportunity, I am an optimist. Goooooo Pios!

RC: I understand your perspective. I am biased, emotional, and probably less educated, but I will continue to hope and have faith. I don't plan on going anywhere whether Etta is 0-10 or 9-1. This is my 3rd year on here and I haven't vacated yet and my teams I have supported have not been contenders.

JK

Bad news on the JK homefront:

Just got deployment orders for November.  A year in Iraq training Iraqi Army...

Only recourse is to resign my commission.  Pondering the possibility right now.

Pat Coleman

Best of luck with your decision, JK -- I don't envy it for one second.

Reality Check

You mention that the posters from Capital have decreased since the 2006 football season.  The main reason for this is nothing more than they were big supporters of Rocky.  I for one talked on the board because i knew all of the players... I could speak for the beloved Blind_side also....
Give us Capital posters a chance to get to know the new Capital team... Hey it is a new ERA Marty Assman rushed for over a 100 yards.. The defense for Capital is as good as it has ever been.
Kcreds- relax and take a deep breath... all new comers have to go through probation period... But all i really want to know is do u need some cheese with that wine ;)

For the record Assmann rushed for 98 yds... the Capital Def gave up 153 yds vs 99 yds one year ago to Witt and the Tigers didn't have all everything Murry this year.

Ouch, JK.

Like Pat, I'd hate to be in your shoes.

1 year in Iraq training the army does not sound like a walk in the park.

We both know and agree on why the board was lit up last year with CAP posters.  I wasn't picking on CAP in typing that.

But I did want to correct the 100 yard rushing mark so badly and was beaten to it.  Dangit!

And I'd like to correct myself regarding BW.  The grass was never green in Berea.  They don't even have grass.  The day Larlham left, the carpet faded a little though.

Well, to be fair, it was probably put in sometime around the day he was born.

Good Luck in your decision JK.  My brother in law (Army Reserve) just got confirmation that he is going to Iraq in February for his second tour.  He was there in 2003-2004.

Talk about a reallity check, you all have reminded me what is really important, everything else is trivial in comparison. I pray for and support all our troops everyday! They are the real winners and heroes of society! Go USA!
