Take it from someone who knows the Not Atall Interestedin Academics institutions. Maybe thats how Kaz got by so long. We might as well say JUCO D3 schools, or does a kid transfer from a D1 team that went undefeated and to their 1st BCS Bowl mean anything?

A question for those who have been watching the Raiders this year. What the heck is with all the penalties?

50 for 402 yards! In just 5 games! Average of 80 yds per game.

Sloppy play and dumb mistakes?

They may be able to overcome this with Wilmington but with ONU looming and playoffs to follow that seems to be an area that really needs addressing.

From my understanding is that Kyle Hausler is still playing and is one interception from becoming the schools all time leader. Thom on the other hand I heard is taking a medical redshirt for and injury. Cap's DB's are pretty tough though. Starks is only a sophomore and reminds me a lot of James Hariston who played last year. I think Cap's strenghts are the DB's and the two big defensive ends in Evans and Floyd. Those two are beast's.

After looking at the stats it surprised me that Cap has only given up 6 sacks this year and leads the conference in sacks.  The big question for Cap was the Oline and they have stepped up.
I think the Hauslers are still having a great year but the Def as a whole is much better than last year and probably one of the best defs Cap has had.  Other than the 3 big plays at MU the def has been very good all year.

I like the two defensive ends for Cap.  Interestingly, according to their game program one transferred from Muskingum and the other from Wittenberg.

I was impressed with Cap's D this past weekend.  Marietta forced 6 TO's and only got 3 points off of them.  I believe it was 3 fumbles, 2 picks and a muffed punt.  Some of these ended in good field position, but Cap's D held strong.  Etta just could not get anything going.  The run game was not working and the short passes weren't moving the ball down the field enough to get the needed first downs.  However, I was not impressed with Cap's offense.  Very sloppy play all around.  The receivers fumbled alot from not taking care of the ball and when you put pressure on Rocky he short arms everything and rushes his throws, leading to INT's and pass breakups.  However, when he has time he is one of the best.  Marietta's D seemed much improved and was flying to the ball and causing turnovers, those boys love to hit.  It was a good game until about 10 minutes to go.  Cap was clinging to a 17 - 3 lead and it looked like Etta was on the vergre of breaking one all day.  Then in a matter of three minutes, CAP scored 35 unanswered points and the rest is history.  Oh, and one of the Hauslers is out with a broken wrist, Thom I believe and the other had one INT in the game which I believe they said was the 20th of his career.

I did notice in the game notes that there was only one Hausler listed in the 2 deep in the defensive backfield.  But there is one, Sean I believe,  a freshman who is second string at one of the OLB positions.

If Starks is anything like Hairston he is a very tough, physical player.

???  Raiderguy - I too have wondered about all the frickin' penalties.  Motion, and holding seem to be the most prevalent.  I am hoping that as the year continues, those miscues can be cleaned up.  Most happen on the offensive side, not on the defense.  The defense is playing at an extremely high level, and has all year long so far.

I know everyone throws kudos to Rocky at CAP, but after watching him against Mount for two years, I am less than overwhelmed with his talent.  Maybe more his execution, and toughness when in a tough game.  I am not even sure if Mount sacked him more than once or twice, but they did hurry him often.  The two touchdowns CAP scored (when the game was undecided) were from a double pass, and then from a broken play where the tailback lateralled back to Rocky before going down.  He has done nothing to convince me he is a big time quarterback, or even an all OAC performer.

skunks..

I wish I could argue with you regarding Rocky, but you are right he has played horrible vs MU.  I can only hope he plays great down the stretch and gets Cap into the playoffs.

If I'm not mistaken, Rocky does have one more year of eligibility, so does Thom Hausler now thanks to a medical red shirt. He is a good QB, and one of the top 2 in the league. His records speak for themselves.

Can you blame the two DE's that transfered? One from Witt who gets smacked by CAP every year and the other from Musky who can't get past the top 4-5 in the league. Look at the facilities that Cap has now. It is a much better place to play.

Although I was disappointed in the turn out for the homecoming game. There was no tailgaiting by the parents or students, and the crowd wasn't as loud as years past.

ELee,
Starks is the real deal, but still raw. He will get better. He needs to add a little weight so he can actually be physical when he tackles, but that will come.

Another pretty ho-hum week in terms of the talk on this board.  I am interested to see this Wilmington team this week (and it's the only stadium in the OAC I haven't been to yet).  I'm also interested to see if JCU can keep playing as well as they have for the past few weeks offensively.

Ric

Toph the soccer stadium has lights and the football stadium does not.  Need I say more?

But the people are very, very nice and they'll have more pizza than you can eat in two days, which is about how long you'll feel like you've been gone after that trip.

Oh, I should mention you may want to wonder into the baskerball arena, its the building sitting to the north of the visitors stands.  Might be the best basketball facility in the OAC.

Ric

The soccer stadium might have lights while the football stadium does not perhaps in part due to the fact that the soccer team has a BW-esque 28 consecutive winning seasons and counting.  Thank god someone will be left standing in the OAC to carry on the mediocrity streak when BW fails to extend theirs this season.

OK Toph, I can understand your saying you want to see if JCU can keep the offense alive. But I think you are the first person on this board in 3 or 4 years showing interest in seeing the Wilmington team. Bet you can hardly wait for noon on the 22nd.
