I think the berg might win three games this year.

There is still hope for the Browns...Frye traded to Seattle for a Starbuck's Gift Card.

Bring on Quinn...

Bring on Quinn...

When told of the trade Frye asked, " Does Seattle have an offensive line? "

That line about" Bring on Quinn" is currently being muttered by every defense on Clevelands schedule this year.

And poor Tim Couch sits home alone waiting for the phone to ring again. ;)

Going back a 'few' years...they do have a 1972 Stagg Bowl victory

Pat Coleman

The first year the Stagg Bowl was the national championship game was 1973.

Here is a scary thought about this season's 2007 Cap Team I just read on this weeks preview vs. Wilma:

A total of 5 starters from last year's 2006 starting squad started against Witt:

1 Offensive Player - Persing (OLT)

4 Defensive Players - Bucci (DE), Coleman (CB), McKenzie (DE) & Starks (CB)

Loved the line from Savage (less than two weeks ago): "Let's see what Charlie [Frye] can do with a full deck."

Is 20 minutes with the Browns a 'full deck'?  Is ANYONE in Cleveland (except, alas for my Tigers, the Indians) playing with a full deck these days? :o

Considering what Michigan did to Quinn last year, do the cries of "Bring on Quinn" MORE reflect a) the desperation of Browns' fans or b) how far the Wolverines have fallen in one season ???

[BTW, a 6th round draft pick is more a McDonald's gift card than Starbucks!]

Did Frye really say that?  That's pretty weak if he did.  If it was meant as a joke, I have one to add:

It was reported that Charlie Frye missed his flight to Seattle.  He held on to his ticket too long!  ;)  8)

reality check

I know the Cleveland Browns are slightly less talented and are run much worse than most D-III programs but can we please move past the Browns/Frye/Crennel stuff and get back to division III football?

Congrats to ONU's David Delk for being named to the D3football.com team of the week.  He had 5 catches, 3 TD's and 141 receiving yards.

Also, Week 1's TOTW featured JCU DL Ken Bevington for his 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks in his second career start.

Gladly.

While this week in the OAC is a real yawner with all the haves playing the have-nots, have no fear as the real OAC battles start next week.  Sept 22nd has JCU traveling to ONU as the first of separation games in the OAC.  Sept 29th follows suit with BW at JCU.  Then Oct 6th hits the Mother Load with JCU at Capital and MUC at ONU.  By October 6th, we should have a decent idea of the pecking order at the top.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Presto

bw and marietta this week.  what are everyone's thoughts? i can't see it being much of a game as long as there is no let down by the jackets.

reality check

As exciting as last year's game was (glad I happened to tune into the webcast) I think BW is head and shoulders above where they were last year in week 2 of 2006.  I think these two programs are going in opposite directions on the scale of competition.  Add to that the fact the game is being played on the carpet in Berea and I think it all adds up for a very long day for the Pios unless Etta finds one heck of a passing game.  All apologies to kcreds.

RC, not necessary to apologize. I understand the reasoning behind everyone's opinions on Marietta. I, however, am in a wait and see mode. I know some of the athletes the Pios have and how good they are. Other than Dawson, no one else performed to their ablility against SJU. The season is young and I'm not hanging them out to dry yet. This week is definitely a tough test and I'm curious of how Etta will respond. I will tell you from a player's perspective, they believe they can win. To me, that is what counts. If the same team shows up that played SJU, then Katie bar the door BW is going to go wild.

I'll be interested to see if Merrill gets more time this week.
