Sorry to report the death of the 15 year old daughter of the Academic Dean of Mount Union (Dr Draves)  in a pedestrian/automobile accident. Even more saddened that the car was driven by a friend of mine. Tough day for the Mount Union family and the kids at Alliance High School. Thoughts and Prayers...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

how well do you know john. He was one of my teachers in school

As bad as this was for Mount Union, it was really twice as bad.  The girl was not only the daughter of the dean (Dr. Draves) but also the daughter of a chemistry professor (Dr. Draves).

Lost track in recent years but we go back 30-35 years. Sad, sad day in Alliance.

A sad day indeed. :'( Such a loss. My deepest sympathies to the Draves family. Also I hope that John can one day get past this as he had devoted so much of his life to the kids of Alliance.

My thoughts and prayers to both families.

That just plain old sucks!

As a parent of a teenage daughter, I can't begin to imagine the pain their feeling over her not coming home from a simple jog around the block.  We all knew subconsciencely that the world is a dangerous place and that life isn't guaranteed, but you never expect something so simple as an evening jog to be the event that ends it.  I truely feel for the parents (and the driver) in this.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

It truly is very sad here, on campus and around town.  I knew Alison a little--she was a very sweet young woman who made a real mark for herself in the one year she had been at the high school.  I also know Mr. Hampu as a teacher--he was principal when my daughters were in the middle school.

This is tragic for everyone involved--makes the whole football thing seem very trivial.  My thoughts are with both families as they try to get on with their lives.

Hug your kids, your parents, your spouse.......never take tomorrow for granted.

In any circumstances the whole football thing not only should seem trivial but in fact is trivial.

reality check

Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire community in Alliance including AHS and MUC.

Perhaps reading Keith's ATN article on the D3football.com main page regarding the Berg can lift some spirits and take one's mind away from the tragedy if only for a moment.  It's a great story.

Yes, nice story and congrats again to the mighty ten seniors.

Which OAC team does Keith think doesn't belong in the top 14?  I was going the opposite way and thinking maybe a fifth one should be up there... the Streaks.

Here's this week's reminder to post your picks.

Hmmm, I agree with you that JCU could easily be placed in the Top 25 based on shear ability, but after MUC, BW, Cap, JCU and ONU get done beating the crap out of each other only a few of them will continue to be ranked simply because the lesser of them will end up only 7-3 or 6-4.  In most years I'd put the OAC's 5th place team against the champions of half of nation's D3 conferences and like the OAC's chances.

If you could truely measure actual team strength, I wouldn't be surprised if 9 or 10 of the top 25 teams in all of D3 are in the WIAC and OAC.
