Toph:  Hopefully Wilma will open up the playbook a little more vs Cap than they did vs MUC.  The Wilma offense is the ugliest I've seen in years.  It consisted of 2 plays:  TB dive in B-gap and a bubble screen/swing pass to #7 which 50% of the time was actually a lateral but the refs were blind.   It was ugly.  Very ugly.

Only offense that rivals Wilma is Musky since they have yet to discover the forward pass.  But at least they have multiple running plays........
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Question for those in the know; if T.Hausler has played in 4 games already this year how can he get a medical redshirt?  When ONU's Trusnick was injured in the 1st quarter of the 3rd game of the season, somebody wondered what the criteria was for a medical redshirt and a poster offered that he thought the cutoff was 30% of the season.  Nobody wants to see a player of T.Haulser's ability end his career with an injury, but what is the redshirt rule?
Interestingly, if T.Hausler receives a medical redshirt and is able to play next year, Cap could have Rocky back as well as both Hauslers.  If I'm not mistaken, K.Hausler sat out his sophmore year, still not sure the reason for that, but he technically would have another year of elgibility.

jdean-
Has anyone ever told you that you are too clever?

Ric-
Glad to hear about the pizza, as a poor college kid I'm sure I'll be putting down my share.  I'll try and make it over to the gym as well and take a look around (we stick to covering the women's team when Wilmington is in town rather than travelling to cover the men's).  Now if we could only do something about the length of this trip...

Toph, I assume you meant to have "lol" after your question to me (was it a rhetorical ?). People have referred to me in ways that I won't describe here but too clever or even moderately clever have never been used. I'm about as clever as the Wilm offense that HS Coach described above.
Beat Wilm by no more than 35.

Eagle,

How can Pentello come back since he has been playing since 2002?  He played in 2 games in 2002 and has been the starter since 2003.  I believe he transferred in as well, which means were he to stick around it would be the sixth year he was in college.   I just don't see where or how you think he could return next season.

That is a great question.  Pentello played in two varsity contests in 2002 completing 5 of 7 passes for 1 TD and 91 yards.

He was listed as a freshman in 2002 on the CAP roster.  He returned in 2003 and was again listed as a freshman on the CAP roster.  I hope someone has an answer on this because according to the stats, Rocky Pentello appears to be a senior.

Jamal was mentioned in the NFL Panthers update in USA Today.  It look like DeShaun Foster and Steven Davis are both a little dinged up.  So is FB Brad Hoover and Rod Smart (HE HATE ME) is listed as "doubtful" for Sunday's game.  Nick Goings and Jamal appear to be the only healthy RB's this week for Carolina.  It looks liek Jamal should definitely see some PT on kick returns again this week unless Rod Smart gets healthy fast.

Rocky was hurt his first start as a freshman and did not play at Toledo so he is listed as a JR.  I am not sure of the Hauslers situation.  I know Kyle has one more year left but I think he is scheduled to graduate, I think Thom is done after this year.  Maybe Kyle can take that ballroom dancing class that Leinart is taking and play next year.

I meant my clever comment as an "lol."  I'm just not big on that whole internet slang thing.  Now, as for beating Wilma by more than 35...a close game would be a change of pace, as JCU has yet to have one in their 5 games so far...but of course, I'd rather see a blowout by the Streaks in this one.  Let me guess, you took Wilmington in Pick Em?  Although I only glance at the pick 'ems now and then, I'd wager to say that JCU -35.5 is probably something that hscoach hasn't typed in a long time (unless he did his own private pick 'em for the JCU/Bethany hoops game last March).

I see now what you are talking about with Pentello.  I hadn't realized he was injuried in the Anderson game until I re-read the 2002 summary.  I didn't realize he was the starter at QB as a frosh in 2002.  I remembered Edgehill stepping back in at QB though.  So it appears he took a medical redshirt.  Was Rocky on the Toledo football team in 2001?

All I know is that he did take a medical redshirt and I believe Thom Hausler is going to also if I am not mistaken. I'm not really sure if Rocky was on the Toledo team. If I had to guess, I would say he was and wasn't happy with the shot he was getting and transferred, but that is just my opinion.

pios

Whether he was on the football team or not at Toledo, wouldn't it be the same situation as the kid at ONU last year who was beyond his 16th quarter?  Medical redshirt or not, it would still be his sixth year and he would be beyond eligibility requirements for the NCAA, beyond 10 semesters I believe was the rule.  So, according to the rule violations posted against ONU, Pentello would be ineligible next season.

tdubs

Hell if I know...I was just going by his year of in the program.lol I leave everything else up to you guys for discussion. How do you know these eligiblity rules anyway?

cufan

I did not know about Thom getting another year.  That may increase the chances of Kyle coming back for his 4th last year.  That would be scary!

I don't think any of us really know what the deal is with regards to eligibility.  I thought I remembered a pharmacy major at ONU that was a very good volleyball player.  She played her first four years as a volleyball player and also ran track if I recall.  In her fifth and sixth years of pharmacy, I thought she was involved in swimming or diving but I am not sure.  I always was under the impression it was all a matter of eligibilty per sport so to say.  You have four years of football unless you get a medical redshirt and so on with additional sports.  Apparently that is incorrect.

Maybe the redshirt supercedes the eligibility issue.  There was a guy from my high school that went on to play football at Michigan State.  He graduated in 1998 from high school and played as a true frosh against Andy Katzenmoyer when MSU upset the Buckeyes in 98.  He received a medical redshirt in 99 after playing three games and suffering a concussion.  He played 5 games in 00 but broke a foot so that counted as a year.  In 01 he played one game and suffered a season-ending neck injury.  In 02 he played a full season appearing in 11 games.  In 03 he was granted another medical redshirt for his injury in 01.  He started most of the season at guard as a 6th year senior in 03.  He ended up going to college a year ahead of me and was still playing a year after I graduated.
