The End of Overlook:  Welcome aboard.

And yes, some of us are older than we like to admit.

Presto:  Regardless of your age, there are certain movies that we must be able to quote lines from at a moment's notice......Ferris Buehler is one of those.  Among the others are:

Animal House
Caddyshack
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Porky's
Remember the Titans
Field of Dreams
And, any movie with Will Farrell

It's a "man law"..........Oh, and also Hollywood Knights (it's an obscure one, but excellent for quotes)

I might make myself seem even older, but "The Natural" needs to be on that list. 8)

Congratulations again to MUC's Mike Zimmerman who set D3's all-time career mark for points by a kicker (277) this past weekend.  It prompted me to look through the NCAA all-divisions record book and Mike still has aways to go to hit the top spot.  That being said...I did come across one funny stat that I wanted to share which involved Walter Payton.  Payton, one of the all-time greats actually connected on 5 field goals in college as part of his career points total of 464.  Maybe Zimmerman could start carrying the ball for Kehres?  ;)

Just got word through the Capital Alumni Association that former Cap president Josiah Blackmore passed away today at age 72.  He was the president when I was a student there.  Including a year as interim president, he was Cap's leader from 1987-1998.  Perhaps some of you remember him from sporting events or had the priveledge of meeting him in some way.

Very intelligent, articluate man who cared very deeply about Capital.  He was one of the driving forces behind the Capital Center, which, as football fans, we can all say led directly to Capital becoming a major player on both the OAC and National scale.

I was saddened to hear about pres. Blackmore 's passing.  My wife and I served on the pres. advisory council when he was pres. of Cap.  He was a funny and caring man.  He collected flags and loved to show his collection.  He often joked to not tell anyone at Cap. that he was a Presbyterian.  He embodied what a college pres. should be all about.  A great loss to this college community.

hscoach even though it looks like his kool aid is laced with some good stuff i'll pass lol.  as for the jcu game nothing concrete a lot of times these two teams play you can throw out who is better and the records i just think it will be less than a one touchdown game either way.  if bw's defense can continue to play the way they have i like their chances but the offense needs to be more consistent.

OK, I usually don't worry about this stuff, but have you ever considered taking a typing class at BW?  The use of capitalization and punctuation would be a great thing 4u. ;D

A question for some of you long time Purple Raider Fans...
What group of D-lineman in Mount History would you label as most dominant?
With personally seeing groups of:
2000: Campbell, Belany, Knoblaugh, Braden, Eberherdt...
2001: Campbell, Cogniglio, Eberherdt, Braden, Knoblaugh
2002: Campbell, Carter, McElhaney, Dillard, Knoblaugh, Ludwig
2003: McElhaney, Dillard, Ludwig, Joseph
2004: Stickley, Ludwig, Wells, Joseph
I apologize if I missed anyones names or mispelled any

Those are some pretty good groups, However I have the feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg...
What D-Line dominated the most, please attempt to list players and years.

Re : d linemen

you need to look at some of the lines o f93, 96 ,97 ,98   Eismon,Payne Kehres,Braden,Yoder,,Hallet, Frink, Schaeffer,Dine,,Liggett,Doman,  and some others. (96 team led the nation in rushing d I think )

Re : d line

You also need to look at the styles of offense that each team has played against. The spread was just coming in in the late 90's,,a lot of I and running in the mid 90's,,. Each group of linemen faced different challenges,,ie Toss sweep ,,or spread,, shotgun ,,triple option and so on.  Braden and Campbell were a great pair of ends.

bw's defense really looked good last week this is rivalry week i think the 12 points is a bit much to give in this game as the underdog has always done well but i'm looking for a one touchdown win. one week at a time!

BW won pretty handily last year though. Granted, JC is better this year and it's there, so 12 points sounds pretty close.

Raiderpa,

You should try the campus bookstore first. They always have copies of the five playoff/Stagg bowl games. They also carry the season highlights DVD which is about 30 minutes of season and playoff game reviews. It will just be a matter if they have any left. Hope this helps.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

The end of overlook:  Great question.

In my opinion, Jesse Wells and Buddy Wolf were the best tandem of DT's ever.  The best individual DT was Mike Hallett.  Single best DE was Matt Campbell.

As a complete D-line?  That's going to take a little time to digest before I post my 2 cents.

The number one defense in the country, the number one offensive QB in the OAC, no not his name butt his stats, and 2 sensational wideouts. You would think I was talking about MUC but it is Capital. MUC is having another unreal season but Capital is putting up some impressive numbers. Their QB, only a sophomore, is a Jason Vrable type QB, he can do it all. As stated before, the defense has not given up a TD yet this season. This is not the team Marietta needs to play to get out of their slump, had to use a baseball term. I'm curious how Marietta will try to compete. This probably will be another long day for me. It will be nice if Etta can score an offensive TD, so for at least one game the preview may state that Marietta is the only team so far to score a TD against them. Something positive to take out of this game would be nice. I believe in miracles. Go Pios!

Quotethe number one offensive QB in the OAC

First, when you say "The number one offensive QB in the OAC" do you mean by QB rating...if not, what stats are you using?

Second, remember that Greg Micheli hasn't played a full half of football yet, let alone an entire game, and he's still got more TDs and almost as many YPG as Assman.

I'm not trying to nitpick here, just reacting to your post, but it bears mentioning...Capital's "impressive numbers" have come against two teams, Heidelberg and Wilmington.  If you combine the Princes and Quakers' stats and divide by number of games played (6) they're scoring 12 points a game...most of those points coming from the Berg.  If you do the same with their defensive statistics, they're giving up an average of 32 points per game.

Stats only tell part of the story in this case.
