reality check

Midlam's second INT of the game extends his school record for career INT's.  Midlam was marked down at the 1 yard line and Dean Paul classily runs out the clock.

Final in Ada ONU 44-26 over OTT.

You know that wonderful smell you detect when you're driving by a farm that has just been fertilized? Roll up the car windows as BW beat the Berg 35-22.  1,150 loyal fans watched that thriller.

Good one, jdean.
Boy, I missed that game big time.  B-M wins by just 13 against the 'Berg.  What's going on in Berea?  1150 fans?  I've been there with 9,000 fans for games against Mount Union.

And who's B-M?  Sorry Runyr, I had to.

CAP and MUSKY didn't seem to be much of a nailbiter but the Crusaders sure didn't blow out the Muskies.  30-13 final.

JCU and WILM was very much the same story with a final of 31-14.  I think WIL is better than they have been in a couple years but JCU has to have hoped they put a bigger margin of victory up today.

We're used to Witt beating up on the weaklings--this time it was poor Hiram. But Kenyon did it again--they beat 'Gheny 34-27! If they get by OWU next week they have a chance of
being champ or co-champ in the NCAC. Good "Lord(s)".

MUC has had an interception and a fumble in the red zone. The fumble was on a dive from the 1yd line. Marietta picked it up and ran it back 100 for a 7-0 lead with 2:00 in the 1Q!

jdean

I know you are looking forward to ONU beating Mount next week RC so it will probably really anger you if Marietta pulls
the upset today.

Not to worry--Mount is winning 28-7 with over 400 yds offense in the 1H.  I wish N. D. would hurry and blow this game--I want to watch something else.

By the way Runyr, I missed BM the first time I read your post. You get an A for that one.

Mount is pounding Etta which is no surprise.

How many of you watched USC-ND? That was one of the best games of the year. Tough loss for ND. I know, it's DI but it WAS a great game.

Mr. Ypsi

purpled,

You got that right - the ONLY reason USC won is BECAUSE Leinart fumbled (since otherwise the clock expired)!!

One of the greatest (if not THE greatest) 'fluke' plays of all time!

End of 3Q--Marietta has run 34 plays for 46 total yds O.
Mount is up 49-7.
Mount won 59-7. In the 4Q they missed one FG inside the 10 on 3rd down and made one from the five on 1st down. LK was playing 2 frosh RBs in the first half and since Garcon sat the game out alot of soph ends got some playing time. MUC
ended up with 755 yds total O and 40 first downs. Marietta had 4 1st downs and somewhere around 60 yds O.

Irish vs Trojans a true classic.
That may be the last time Pete Carroll ever beats a Charlie Weis team.  Irish have two home losses by 3 points each.
Hey, Carroll was 6-6 his first year with SC.
Wait until Weis gets a recruiting class or two.  That should end the bleeding for the Irish against SC.  Three years under Ty Willingham ND loses by 31 in ALL three games.  That's what cost Ty his job the day after the last blowout to SC.
Tough loss today for the Irish, but bright future ahead.
My son was at the game.  He's a junior at ND.  In '03, he attended the Mount Union vs John Carroll game with me rather than watch the 2nd blowout to SC in South Bend.  He gave his ticket away, he was so sure Ty couldn't do it.

Was at the MUC game tonight. Can someone confirm why Garcone sat out? He seemed to be limping on the sidelines so I am assuming that he was held out for precautionary reasons with ONU next week.

There were two amazing plays in this game.

1) a short out pass to Boehm was reversed across the field and then down field to around Etta's 5 yd line. The catch and run was about 55 yards but even more amazing was LT Tom Manning's hustle all the way down field to attempt another block. What hustle for a lineman!

2)Kelechi Ibeh's 4th quarter TD run was one of the best I've witnessed. He hurdeled some defenders and the capped the run off with a stiff arm that lasted 20 yards till he scored.

Outside of MUC's and Reality Check's "Pooh" Bears'  (yes..I listened, and it would have been a fine game to watch, except that there is no place to go AFTER the game) victories, the other three OAC wins were not impressive.  Makes you wonder.  Makes you go, "MMMmmmmmm?"

Break, break.....

If Kelechi Ibeh really wants the end zone, who is really gonna tell him "NO"/stop him???

YOu got that right about Ibeh, that run off a Mason shuffle pass was as awesome and outright brutally punishing to a defender that was so frustrated the last 20 yards or so, the defender had to think he was one of those clowns at a rodeo! Likewise, I'm pretty sure LK just found some more ammo for the arsenal now that he didnt really expect in Kmic, WOW :o the kid actually is quite reminiscent of Chuck Moore, but only time will tell.  Saw Garcone for a sec on the sideline but he didnt indicate why he wasnt playing though he did seem to have a hobble running around.
Ric
Was it you that had to turn the lights on at the Drumm tonight? I never seen a game start getting so dark before any stadium lighting came on! Thot maybe Marietta didn't pay the electric bill and hopefully the didnt pay much to the stadium announcers  ::)

Ric

Its funny you mention that mtfan because at one point when Mount had the ball I made the comment that it was getting dark and my partner said, "You don't think they'll turn the lights on while Mount has the ball do you?"

Hopefully it was only a coincidence that as Mount was lining up to kick after scoring the lights came on, LOL.

What is it with officiating this year?  That might have been the worst yet.  Morring was already in the endzone on the fumble, should not have been a fumble, that was not pass interference on Watson, Half Kmic's body was in the endzone on the play ruled down at the one and when Jorris scored on the next play his entire body including feet were in the endzone but it still took the official eternity to call it a score.

Oh and note to officials, when a quarterback turns and throws the ball behind him, whether it is overhand or not, if it is thrown behind him, and it hits the ground, THEN IT IS A FUMBLE.   What in the world that is football 101.  You know that in your backyard when your six.  Saw that last week and saw it again this week.  That is just horrible.
