rc,

as you can read...I agree with how impressive Heller has been thus far.  Nice to see some Ohio flavor on the blog, even if you are an Arizona transplant.

well well well... Imagine that I have gotten more negative karma... just a few obervations from over the comments I have recieved.
1. I played 4 years of college football and I am now a Coach....
2. Film is not going to show the physicallity of a team
3 Watching them live is not going to show the physicallity of a team(little more than film)
4. Playing against a team is the only true calculation.

I rest my case... Pleae feel free to add some - karma

Congrats. None of which prohibits the rest of the world from offering an opinion.

So even coaches can't comment on the physicality of the teams they coach against?

Another subject--

Do you think Kehres' comments in the Around the Region means that if given the chance, MUC will step on the gas pedal this weekend?  Or do you think he might have been irritated about a question of playing his pupils' teams this year.

IMO, its a great compliment on what he does to have so many of his ex-players involved with coaching at the various levels.

2minute0-

Well, we needed something to liven the debate up, since everyone is more or less in agreement that Mount will win this weekend (the only question is by how much).

I don't think your post could be any more off base.  The idea that "only playing" can give a person an idea of how physical a team is couldn't be farther from the truth.  Television, radio, and print reporters talk all the time about a team being "more physical" than its opponent.  The idea that you can't see that on film or watching during the game is also flat out wrong.  Sitting in the stands or in the press box I can see a team consistentantly getting overpowered by its opponent, I don't need to be on the field in a uniform to know that.

Since you're a coach, I hope you never talk about the physicality of your team or your opponent...after all, you can't tell how physical a team is unless you're actually playing in that particular game.

Ridiculous.

Even I had the audacity to comment on the Allegheny/Wabash matchup and the Gators' physicality in the Daily Dose Triple Take.  I didn't even play for either school!!!  How crazy!

toph,

exactly...take for instance, my beloved (gulp) Bengals.  Monday night....the entire NATION saw and recognized how they were physically outmanned and embarrassed on ESPN.

Well you guys must be right then... I am totally wrong... Did u guys even read my last post.  The word used was TRUE...

Now for instance one is not going to TRULY know how physical Ray Lewis is without playing against him

Sure we can turn on ESPN and watch highlights

Final point until another is needed lol

For those who have played.. There has been plenty of times where I played that I thought a team was not physical or was physical by watching the game and watching film... I could not have been more wrong when I played against them.

Thanks

Only someone who is electrocuted can truly know how painful it is but I'll take their word on it as opposed to experiencing it first hand.  But hey if you wanna tell us all what it feels like and be the TRUE expert, go for it... ;)

This all started because I shared the comments of two different players that played on two different Mount Union teams numerous years apart that both told me basically the same thing about one school.  I was sharing what I was told.  And I clearly said that.  Now it seems that would be OK as long as it wasn't what I thought.

I remembered those conversations and found them interesting because they both basically said the same thing about the same team, even though the comments were about La Crosse teams that were years apart.  What I took from the info was that La Crosse obviously prides itself in being physical.

I don't know, I thought it was a pretty harmless comment and I also thought it might be something someone would find interesting, that's why I bothered posting it in the first place.  I'm not sure why it offended you 2minute.  Maybe I offend you.  Either way one thing I can be sure to tell you, based on your postings on this board over the last year, joking or not, I am very glad the people I care for do not have you as their coach.  Plain and simple.

I was a trainer for 7 years.  I have watched a lot of football.  I can tell when a team is more physical than others.  It is not a magic thing that only players can know.

Well it is obvious that you assume a lot of things that are wrong so why would this surprise anyone here?
