Dear Mount Union fans,

As a St. John Fisher alumni and fan, I attend Fisher games regularly (I was at the Mount Union playoff game last year)...There are often times when Fisher plays teams of lesser competition and runs through them, and I am just bored in the stands.  I yawn, I zone out, it's business as usual.  This was happening this past weekend against a team named Utica....Then I thought about the Mount Union fans and how every week must be that way for you guys, and then my heart went out to you all and I shed a tear for you.  That just can't be fun seeing blowout after blowout after blowout can it?  I mean it's fun to talk about the dominance and see good players but seriously those games have to be sooo boring to watch.  Last years game vs. Fisher I think would be a lot more fun, it was competitive and hey you guys still got the W so you went home feeling all snug and warm.  I know I've never had more fun in a loss than in that game.  Well have fun destroying the rest of your competition, if we don't see you this year then surely we will see you first game in '08!

p.s.  where is kirasdad?  he hasn't shown himself in the E8 boards in a while....How we miss him so

Pardon me if I missed it, but is the Mount - St. John Fisher contract a done deal?  If so, where do they play in 08?

I would personally like to see a home and home with SJU in the future....I STILL have not seen anyone tackle as well at SJU did in the Stagg Bowl....

TheeBuffaloSabres

many times those games are boring to play in as well.
particularly as an offensive player, knowing that you are not permittted as a unit to obtain a first down. at least the defense can strive for a shutout, or to keep the yards per play average down. the offense though, blah blah blah, whose got the kegs tonite?

anyone see jagrs teeth?
and we all wanna be like tommy gavin

Yeah it's a done deal

First game of '08 Fisher travels to Mount Union
First game of '09 Mount Union comes to Fisher

Yes, the Mount Union-St. John Fisher series is a done deal.  It was announced, at least in the Rochester paper, during the buildup to last year's playoff game between the two schools.  I'm glad to know which year will be in Rochester, though; maybe I'll be able to schedule a trip home to see my folks that weekend.  "Hi mom and dad, it's great to see you.  Oh hey, what do you know, Mount Union is playing here this weekend.  Gee, what a coincidence!"  If Mount doesn't make it to the Stagg this year or next, that would be my first game since that '99 game against Rowan.  I need a better memory than that.

Did I miss something?  What is this in response to?

#47 looked a little juicy if you ask me.

That's the line that got my attention.  But we've beaten this to death already.

For the record, I have no problem with your handling of this.  Simple retraction of a out of line comment and we more on.

Blind-side on the other hand is clueless.  I agree that we should have free reign to post "opinions" about the games, but "accusations" concerning individuals is a different story.  I wonder what Blind-side would think if we came out of left field with false accusations about your coach illegally recruiting players.  Probably wouldn't sit too well would it?

Boy, things are getting a little snarky on here aren't they?  What happened to the good old days when we actually talked d3 football and didn't spend a considerable part of our time belittling one another.

Let's stick with important topics like--Is Stone Station still going to the Stagg, even though their team is probably eliminated from the playoffs?  Is Olinemom finally going to cheer for Mount this year, or will she continue to support the opposing team.  Is Mount even going to make it to the Stagg?

Where is all the bravado from the opponents about "you haven't seen anything like us ?"

This is JCU week for Mount and nobody has even mentioned the game.  What's up?

Here is a thought: while at MUC it always seemed as if Mount not only had one big time rival (BW) but also had a rival like relationship with whoever the top three teams in the conference are. For example JCU, ONU, and eventually Cap where huge weeks and a lot of the fans considered some of these teams to be rivals as well. Is this the same with other OAC schools ?

OACFB

After losing to Wilimington I don't know what to expect form JCU. I just hope it isn't another 70-0 thrashing that happened a few years back. At least last year it was a respectable game.

Petro is a great qb, but not an Arth. I can't see JCU winning this one or even keeping it within reason. Anyone else's thoughts?

Wait, there's a game this weekend?  I thought we just had to wait around for the week of December 15th, go through a practice or two, and then be handed the trophy.

Well, maybe I didn't really think that, but I've seen around a couple of places people talking about this being a "down year" for the OAC as a whole, and it really seems that way.  I mean really, Mount has already wrapped up the bid from the conference.  At least LK still takes some pride in winning all the games, and not in simply protecting his starters for the post-season.  He'll still play the starters until the game is no longer in doubt.  Just because the season has been figured out, doesn't mean that the games aren't important, even beyond the regional seeding.

why am I posting?

OACFB:  That's exactly what I expect.  JCU will play hard and tough, but won't have near enough to seriously challenge Mount.  The points given up to Wilma is why I set the spread so high.  If the Quakers can score on JCU, what in the world will Mount do?  As usually is the case, I have little doubt in Mount scoring enough to cover, the question is whether JCU can score enough to cover.

Honestly, I hope JCU scores very early on the 1st team D.  Preferably on the initial drive to start the game.  I don't want the scoreless string to be active when they head into the playoffs.  And I think it would be in the best interest of the overall team to be behind on the scoreboard too.  The offense has been pushed by BW and Cap the last 2 weeks.  But the D hasn't.

Jaypeter:  I also agree that the OAC is down overall.  I was ver disappointed with ONU's level of play and Capital isn't there because of injury.  This is shaking out to be alot like 2003.  MUC rolls thru a weakened OAC and looks invicible to on their way to an obvious championship.  Oops.

hscoach,

That's the same feeling I have.  A lot of confidence as we head through the year.  A couple of tough looking teams in other regions (UWW, UMHB).  No severe test before the playoffs.  It's almost enough to hope that the regions set it up for the North and the South to play in the semi's, giving us a chance to play a good team--quite possibly UMHB--before the Stagg.    Then again, why should there be shame in walking through an easier regular season and then having the other tough teams upset in the playoffs?  Ugh, I need to stop avoiding preparing for class.

Blutarsky

I have noticed the past few years that teams seem to not only struggle when they play Mount Union, but also the week before and after they play.  Perhaps they are looking ahead (Capital), or the emotion of playing the #1 team takes so much that the following week is a let-down (Northern)......or, just too banged-up or disappointed in their performance?
