I watched Akron vs Ohio tonight and I can say one thing (maybe two), they both had some very good athletes.  Lou was getting on my nerves a bit, but other than that it was fun to watch.  I didn't see a lot of fans in attendance, however.  Akron's new stadium should help a lot.  Bringing it back to campus is a great idea.  They showed the architectural renderings on ESPN tonight.  It looks great.

After reading Pat's projecting the playoffs, has any OAC school been placed outside of Mount's bracket ever?  If Capital ends up in another region, I think that would be awsome for the OAC to possibly have two teams in the Stagg.  I know prob unlikely, but i think that would be interesting to see anohter OAC school battle UWW or UMHB

John Carroll Won the East Region in 2002.  Then got womped by Mount Union in the National Semifinals.  I think it's more likely they'd play in the semifinals and not the Stagg.

reality check

John Carroll did an excellent job in the East bracket representing the OAC.  If CAP were to make the playoffs and they were to shipped to another region, the pressure would be on them to win out.  They don't want to "pull a BW" and lose to someone other than MUC.

I'm just brainstorming here but if they seed the regions 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 for the semis you have to figure they'd ship an out-of-region Pool C team to the weakest region to fill it out the bracket so at best it would be like 2002 and an OAC semifinal.  There's a lot of "if's" in this equation.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Here's a thought....let's ramble on about "Mount move up"....."Mount playing up"...yada...yada....yada...yada.....and THEN....try to sell it as...."out of the box thinking".......HEY.......here's a thought.....your idiot you is tired.....put him to bed!   ;)

RC -what the OAC elite know (CAP, ONU, BW{kinda}) is that it's no fun getting blasted by Mount...but OH when you beat them!  And...it makes play-off worthy teams in the OAC BETTER...i.e. JCU - 2002....CAP - the last two years.

Here's an idea........next year sometime the 3rd week of August......the premier of......D3football.com "SUMMER SHOW DOWN"........invitation only, winner-take-all battle royale......seeing that it is D-III the winner gets $6.50 per player meal money and all the Pat Coleman endorsements you want for a year!   ;D  "Texas Shootout" rules.........one play from the 10.....each team gets one play...winner moves on.....loser buys all the rest of us BEER!

Developing........... ;)

I was over posting on the ASC board, and was struck with a thought.  Looking at UMHB as a #4 seed still strikes me as odd.  Yes, it's the numbers that drive the rankings, but we've even said over here I think that most people think of UMHB as either the top or second team in the south.  They seem to be hurt by a lower OWP and OOWP because of their conference having a bit of a down year.

So, that got me thinking.  If Mount had lost to Cap or to ONU, where would we fall in the regional rankings.  Would we be below Wabash (boy would they LOVE that!)?  Would we be below Case Western?  Certainly in this somewhat down year for the OAC, we could be in a similar situation to UMHB...ranked below teams that most everyone thinks we would be better than.  I could just see the board now if we had to travel to Wabash for the quarter finals!

ps--I forget our seed the year ONU beat us.  Anyone?

Change, thinking outside the box, being optimistic, paradigm shift ... these are all words that I think some posters on this board (Toph - Reality Check - Ric - Pat Coleman) should consider.
Pat Coleman: I didn't know we could only post in certain forums, isn't that "Forum Descrimination" Mr. Coleman? Why does it matter how many times I've posted & what topics I'm interested in discussing Mr. Coleman?
Toph: I took English 101 in my freshman year and guess what ... I passed!

BTW, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to posters that can see past their keyboards and actually listen to what I was saying! (aueagle - ONUFB77 - rscl70 - Ajwassup)
Thank You very much guys for making me feel like my comments were welcome on the OAC boards!

"Think outside the box?"  What the hell does that even mean in this case?  Scheduling up makes no logical sense and you have yet to present a reason that Mount should do it.  Mount is very good at football.  That doesn't mean that the school should change their entire athletic mission statement because you (ExD3) are tired of seeing your team get their asses kicked.

I shudder to think what school passed you without being able to properly conjugate a verb.

What makes this years Regional Pairings different than the past 2 years??  I am looking at it from Capital's standpoint, b/c this year the potential of them NOT being in MUC's Bracket seems greater than the past 2 years when discussed  ???

This year, their defense is good enough to keep them in games, but they will get worn out by the 4th quarter b/c their offense is really that bad!!  Either way you look at it, I am scared of pulling a BW if Cap makes it in...with no offensive threat, its hard to score points b/c there is absolutely no balance!!

This is all predicated on a BW win, so this could all change & we would only be talking about MUC during the playoff run!!

Mount gains nearly nothing from scheduling up.

A challenge....or is that simply not something LK or players that go to Mount are interested in?

Right, because going undefeated and winning national titles is cake.

Next.

#2 seed behind Wabash.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

The Rubber Bowl is the worst Division 1 stadium, period. I can hear the games from my house but I only see Akron when they play at Kent. The Rubber Bowl playing surface is quite similar to BW's, awful.

Could anyone help me out with current email or phone contact information for Troy Starr aka enterprise?

Thank you
joelmama

I tried to find some info on him at Florida's site but couldn't find an email link of any kind.  You might contact Florida's SID via gatorzone.com if no one here has it.  I'm sure they'd be able to pass on your info or pass his on to you if you explained the reason for contact and that you're not some rabid SEC fanatic.
Thanks I found the same stuff.  Unfortunately the email address I have for him is the old Woodland Hills Taft High School email URL.

To all Mt. Union Supports,

Please get the Raiders and Coach K, to score 76 points this week. Averett needs to come off this plaque and let someone else have the fun. :D ;D ;)

Small but Slow

Sorry I haven't kept up with the discussion the past few months, but have to make a comment about the recurring, "Mount Union should play," up theme.  Small private schools, such as Rice and Tulsa choose to compete athletically in D-1 athletics because they have large corporate backers headquartered in the large cities they are located in that fund these programs.  Both have enjoyed success in various sports recently, with Rice winning the baseball College World Series a couple years back.  D-1 athletics takes big time money.  Alliance, Ohio, while a wonderful town can not be confused with either Houston or Tulsa in terms of financial clout.  Mount is a D-3 school that abides by the NCAA rules for the division and has enjoyed success the past few years.  Eventually, someone will catch up, and surpass MUC.  Fortunately, we are still enjoying the ride!
