St. Johns loses! WOW!

Yeah, but their hockey team won 4-1.  Who do you think rules that school...the hockey team had 167 for a home game.

Just got back from Bexley and I had a couple thoughts/comments....

First off, what a finish to the game.  Without writing a game story, BW scored w/ 20 seconds to go on a tipped pass.  Cap nearly picked it off and BW's freshman RB caught it off the richocet.  Down 17-16 at that point, they went for 2 and the pass fell incomplete.  It was a crazy last 2 minutes and undoubtedly stressful for the Crusader faithful.

Second, my hat's off to BW.  They played like they were the ones with a playoff chance on the line.  The defense was flying around the field.  Their fans were out in full force and vocal.  All around good showing by the Jackets.  Except for the guy who threw something (looked like his chewed gum) at James Starks.  Starks was "shhh-ing" the crowd after his INT, but don't toss something at a kid.  It was harmless, but it just looks bad.

Capital defensive end Zac McKenzie (#99) started and played the entire game at running back.  You read that correctly...running back.  He got a breather every now and again, but he was definitely the featured back today.  In fact, he set up Cap's first TD by breaking a 37 yd run inside the 5.  I didn't see him play D at all, but hopefully one of the Cap guys can confirm that as well as possibly elaborate on this.

All in all, fun game at Bernlohr today.  Keep your fingers crossed Cap.  I'm rooting for ya to get in and represent us well.

McKenzie was the starting RB, and he did play a little DE as well (last series of the game when BW scored a td on the tip)...my only question has to be why was he the featured RB today, he is a defensive lineman??  I know the offense needed a spark, but I am not sure if that was the answer??

Bottom line today, they got the "W"...it was not pretty, but a win is a win!!

gut check win for Cap today.  Nice job by BW they played their A$$ off today.  Hats off to Cap QB Robbie Thayer he made some nice throws today.  It is always good to see SR who stuck with the program for 4 years and takes advantage of his time.

I think what Nate did this season was just fine. LK could have ran him for much more but why? The kid is ready to run in the playoffs and each playoff opponent will get a full course meal of RUN NATE RUN!!

I didn't say anything was wrong with Kmic, nor did I try to imply that.  I just thought it was rather interesting he finished the season under 1,000 yds.  Not sure many of us would have predicted that heading into the season.

I asked this question a couple of games into the season and did not get any responses, so I will try again. Does anyone think MUC can top 700 points for the season?

After today all MUC needs to do is average 32 over the next 5 games to get 702. Is it realistic? Granted the competition is up'd a level in the playoffs - but.....

The Berg won 52-21

Good to hear.  I think matching the win total for the century in his first season is enough for Hallett to get my imaginary vote for COY.   ;D

Unless carefully put in context, I think that could be a very misleading (and perhaps not even a desirable) statistic.  With all the effort MUC (OK, LK) put into NOT running up the scores, it is clear that they could ALREADY have over 700 points if that were a goal.

That said, I think they will surpass 700, since they will easily score 50+ in the first two rounds despite 2nd half 'mercy' attempts.  And I can't see anyone holding them under 30-40 in later rounds (at least prior to the Stagg).

Desertraider

Sorry about that - I meant to ask "WILL MUC score 700". I did not say it would be a good thing to do so - especially with all the "MUC needs to move-up" people.
