Its funny, I was just talking a stroll around MUC's facilities and saw this weightroom....

Reminds me of the old IC weight room that was even smaller.  But then I saw this....

I like it.  Old school.  Reminds me of the gym that Rocky worked out in in Rocky III.

I wondered what you were talking about because I was in there a couple of weeks ago and was really impressed with the equipment in Gulling. Trust me, it ain't old school anymore. That's an old picture.

No I just meant a lot of weights in a field house type enviornment instead of a room.

Guys, don't forget the Playoff Pick-Em's is up and rolling.  It's a completely new contest and you didn't have to participate in the regular season to participate in the Playoff Pick-Em's.

P.S.  > I wonder how the Ithaca floks will like my spread ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Mr. Ypsi

hscoach, if they check the pickems, they may be less peeved with your spread than the fact that (so far, at least) everyone is picking Mount anyway! ;D

I will too, but other games have kept me from entering yet.

HURFMUC

Hscoach you said muc,s first game spread was going to be 60.5 what happen to that

Yeah HURFMUC, that's what he told me as well!! Hmmmmm! I'll still take Mount with either one...does it matter?  ;D

HScoach

That's when I was assuming MUC would be playing Olivet,  Hope or Alma in the North Region.  The East this season is a lot more balanced (other than Curry who is a paper tiger).

Ithaca...fresh meat! And does it really matter if Mount is in the East? Nope!!

That's interesting, I was thinking the same about Mount Union. Don't rule the Bombers out. Butterfield is watching!!

theotherguy

does anyone think that Mounts DE's might struggle against a tougher playoff schedule? They have been very good in the regular season, but haven'y had the great games that MUC ends typically have. IMO, they have lacked the production of the past ends (I.E. Campbell, Carter, Veuchlich, Stickley, Braur, Josef) I think they have relied on their DTs, and rightfully so, Im just wondering if they will beable to create on their own if they need too...

I don't know much about MUC's DE's this year but I was curious and looked up the stats since you asked about the lack of play-making in this year's crop.  It appears Millings and Andrews are the starters and Herbert as the number one backup.

Millings has 34 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 6.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.
Andrews has 28 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks and a blocked kick.
Herbert has 38 tackles, 10.0 TFL, 6.0 sacks, and INT for 50 yards and 2 FF.

Through ten games in 2006 Stickley had 36 tackles, 12 TFL, 5.0 sacks, a FF and 2 blocked kicks.  Vucelich had 25 tackles, 8.0 TFL, 5.0 sacks and no FF, blocked kicks or INT's.

Through ten games in 2005 Brauer had 40 tackles, 8.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks and no FF, blocked kicks or INT's.  Stickley had 36, 10.0 TFL, 3.0 TFL, and INT and a blocked kick.  Vucelich had 17 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1.0 sacks and no other stats.

I went back further but suffice it to say that with the exception of number of tackles (which I attribute to seeing more regular season snaps) the DE's were all relatively similar. The current group seems no different on paper than the greats you mentioned.  I have no idea what they look like on the field but the three DE's I looked up from this year seem every bit as capable as the Stickley's, Vucelich's and Brauer's of the past.

How many different combinations of touchdowns, extra points, field goals and safeties can there be to reach 60 points and how many push ups would result from each?
I've been working on this.  Yes I'm a geek.  Yes I'm bored.

Part of the problem is that you don't just want combinations, the problem requires permutations because the order of the scores is important.  A TD followed by a FG yields 17 push-ups.  A FG followed by a TD yields 13 push-ups.

There are 2,727,045,233 possible permutations of TDs (with 0,1,or 2 points afterwards), FGs, and safeties that would yield 60 points.

I'm not about to put myself (or my computer) through that.

The most interesting defense stat for me is that the team's leading tackler is a DEFENSIVE TACKLE!  That's just plain sick.

If McCullough isn't an All-American, then something's wrong.

McCullough even has people come done on charter buses from the state of Michigan to watch him play.
