At least the OAC's other qualifier can say while completely undermanned, they got beat by what looks like one of the participants in this year's Stagg.

Ithaca just might be the best "other" team in the East.  Next Saturday will tell.

It is baffling to see to what end people will make excuses for a conference's failure.  OAC avg. score per game vs. MUC was 51-1.  7 teams in the OAC didn't even manage to put points on the board against them.

Maybe you the conference was the best or good in the past, however, this is 2007. And in '07 the OAC was off.

Yawwwnnnnnn.

Skunks,
Such is your clear superiority that perhaps future playoff contenders should just fill out and submit a questionaire in order to qualify their abilities and intentions before MUC and their 2500 fans must demean themselves by sharing a field.

Your "good-sportsmanship" in a 59-7 victory while demeaning nationalities and perpetuating stereotypes will forever make me a MUC "fan".

BTW, does MUC beat Whitewater if they give up six sacks like they did against those Jersey thugs today?

Double Yawwwwwnnnnnnnn.

For what its worth, there is one common opponent between SJF and MUC (Ithaca).

SJF beat them by 21, MUC by 24.

This will be a better game than most people West of Buffalo think.

Most people "west of Buffalo" are looking forward to this game as we are the next two season openers.  It's fun to have a worthy opponent, and the last time I checked St. John Fisher fit the bill.  It's just a shame to hear some fans from east of Buffalo whining before the game is even played.

As to the comment on whining - I think that was actually done by one of your own.  (he was guessing what the excuses would be coming into the game).

As far as the scheduling thing - I could not agree more.  Good programs should schedule and play other good programs (I know, MUC is not a "good" program, they are the program )

No wonder TCNJ fans were quiet all week...their team was not that good. It was a display of poor sportsmanship and their offensive scheme was terrible. Didn't see a pass downfield all game. Mount's D teed off on them.

I must admit after seeing this game that I was very disappointed with TCNJ.  The only time they were a threat (and they scored) was when MUC turned the ball over deep in their own territory.  Ithaca gave MUC a real game, but I think TCNJ has earned the title "LEAST OF THE EAST".

Guys new theory I just threw out there on the E8 board

SJF Fan is in fact a poster from the OAC who is bashing said conference to make Fisher fans seem like jerks and at the same time provide bulletin board material for any potential players who view the posts, etc.  You have to admit if that were the case it would be pretty brilliant.

I just have to wonder: how bad is RPI? I'm sorry. The TCNJ coaching staff should be arrested for taking money under false pretenses. There was some talent there, but it was wasted by a clueless coaching staff who took the whole play clock to call plays that went no where. I wanted to go out a throw a block for TCNJ #6. That poor kid was playing with all the heart in the world and was getting his head handed to him.
Kudos on the most obvious fake punt in history. Most high schools would have the sense not to run that play.
And finally an offensive line that made JCU's look good: five guys nicknamed Tater.

and hey, "A Solid Defense"??????? Mount could have scored a 100.

That was the most awful display of playoff football since the Mount-Lycoming Stagg Bowl.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

methinks it is silly to judge a team or school by the actions or words of a couple players or some fans, who may seem obnoxious at times, but are the same fans that welcome tailgaters from opposing teams with open arms and free suds... I wish they would tone it down, too, but it is harmless...

If you really are a competitor, have prepared to the best of your ablility and are getting your butt kicked with no chance of catching up, it is hard to keep the emotions in check, although respect for the sport demands it.  The player coming at the fans is inexcusable, however, so it the baiting of the players by the fans...  Come on adults, since when it is in good sport to sit in the stands and call out a college kid during during a game.  As a parent, it would be hard to sit there while my kid took crap from adults in the stands...On the other hand if my kid acted up on the sideline, my desire would be to go kick him in the pants myself....

I thought the zebras did a good job today...may have missed one on the MUC sideline, but the play looked less deserving of a penalty on the tv replay....

TCNJ used the weapons they had, and played the only scheme they had available to them...They were simply overwhelmed...I had the opportunity to meet and speak at length with TCNJ players and parents Friday afternoon and today after the game.  they were great kids, super folks, and knew what they were up against.  After the game, the CNJ parents  were effusive in their praise of Mount Union and the players I talked to had the greatest respect and praise for the MUC players and the way they played the game..

Lets get back to enjoying the performance of kids, respecting the fact that they are out there giving it all they can for no scholarship whatsoever, and not having the lack of class to call out or  criticize an individual player...

I look forward to a great game from SJF....hopefully all their players and ours are healthy on Saturday...no excuses...

I don't have a dog in this fight, but if you read into what Kehres said after the game today, it would appear MUC took the good with the bad in seeing TCNJ send 5,6,7 players after the QB.  It allowed MUC to gash the Lions' defense today.  6 sacks vs. "how many big plays are we going to make" against the isolated secondary.

I believe this is NOT the way to try to stop MUC....then again, I think we'll see what SJF and WW-W try to do defensively.  I hope its different than what TCNJ did today...they got throttled.

I think that MUC has the greatest respect for SJF, and so preparation will be especially intense this week.

There is no element of surprise with SJF.  They are a "known quantity".

From this point of the season forward, there are no "pretenders".  I really think that we are as close to the best eight teams left in the country as possible.

How many teams in the OAC could beat this year's 2nd round teams: Curry, St. John's, EC, NCC, Muhlenberg, North Central, and Case Western?

My guess is more than one.

The only way to have known is if any of them could have made it to the 2nd round.

SJF Fan,
My point, which I didn't make clear (sorry about that), was how many unranked or lower ranked teams that automatically make the playoffs by winning in weak conferences would get beat by OAC teams.  I'm talking this year.

PS - You wouldn't be qualified to answer since you don't follow the OAC.

Oh we at Fisher are collectively holding our breath as not only our starting left guard went out in the first quarter and won't play against Mount Union but Stepnick who is the backbone of our defense is questionable to play, and if he does will be playing in pain.  Fisher's defense has been really clicking lately but without Stepnick, Garcon will run wild for sure which will free up the running game for Kmic to run wild which will then cause us to stack the box and it will open it up for Garcon to go wild which will then free it up for....oh no i've gone cross-eyed.

Excuses already?

We're down our starting FS and FB.  So what's your point?

In regards to New Jersey, what a farse of a team.  I've seen high school teams better coached and playing with more composure.  Good thing the game was well in hand and LK could get the starters out early, because the NJ cheap shots were flying.  Their offense was the worse I've seen all season.  Even the 2nd MUC defense was too much for the NJ starting offense.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I agree 100%.  That was ugly.

At least Lycoming kept their mouths shut while taking their beating ;D
