bcspiel,
Very well stated and thanks for an eyewitness perspective. +k
I just have one question.  What's "an alumist?"  I took a couple of years of latin in high school, but I missed that one.  ;)

Runyr, already caught crap for this one, I have the flu, and missed the spell check, lol.  If you guys dont believe I am sick, then why the heck would I be typing this at 345 in the morning!!!  Good posting to all this week and GO RAIDERS, from a proud ALUMNUS

Frank, you misspelled Saterday, twice.

QuoteI refuse to ignore abnormal crowd activities when they become apparent and detrimental to the players and/or the game.

To be honest, I really don't think that Hammer and his merry band of idiots are as bad as some of you are making them out to be.  I've been to many collegiate athletic contests at nearly every level...what that group of middleaged wig-wearers does is tame, and nothing these guys say or do is "detrimental to the players and/or the game."  Is the "start the bus" chant stupid, and juvenile, yes.  Do these guys normally do anything that is more than just annoying?  I don't think so.  Does it make the program look bad?  Again, I don't think so.

I wasn't there when the mess between the players and fans happened on Saturday, but why are only a few people holding TCNJ's players and coaching staff accountable?  I've heard the argument "these are kids, and the fans are adults."  That's not true.  They are all at least 18.  If you don't have the maturity to ignore some idiots in the stands, you need to get some thicker skin.  As a coaching staff, if your players are flipping off opposing fans (allegedly), and going out of their way to jaw with opposing fans, you need to get your team under control.  I know a few people mentioned this, but isn't it strange that it was an Alliance police officer and not a member of the coaching staff that forced the TCNJ player back to his sideline?  As a player all you are doing is giving the fans more to hassle you about by responding.  At that point the fans know they are in your head, and they're going to come back even harder.  As hard as it may be, ignore the fans, play the game.

SJF fans shouldn't be concerned about not being able to enjoy the game this Saturday, and hopefully it will be enjoyable for everyone.

Frank, I agree with Ric and PC, as a broadcaster it is not your place to call out Mount Union or their fans.  The fact that you've said here that you are prepared to do so makes it seem as though you are going into the game with an agenda.  I appreciate your explanation of your comments, but they do not sit well with me either.

"There's no doubt that an agent-type helped him choreograph his moves in a way to give him an honest chance at the draft"

Frank - that was your exact quote.  I don't know how anyone would assume you meant "advisor" when using those words.  As Pat posted on the E8 board, I think the way Garcon ended up at Mount doesn't show any agent direction at all.

All that being said, I think Garcon will have some questions attached to him (other than the usual D-III issues) regarding his health.  I would wonder if the poking and prodding by the scouts/teams/etc...will end up hurting him in any way.

Ric - can you put together a play-off only "tale of the tape"?  It would be interesting to see how Mount and SJF compare in their two playoff games.  I think that can be a better indication of how teams are playing, and how they match up.  I know....I know.....you are BUSY!   ;D

But remember.......if not you.....who?   ;)

I woke up to the sound of the bus this morning.....ahhh Nothing better. Reminded me of the days when "start the bus" was funny....oh wait, that was yesterday, and still funny today.

After thinking about it some, I just needed to get a few things straight. There are 5 people that so many of you have a problem with. 1 of you (all be it not the most intimidating of stature), Ric, Was the only one with enough sack to actually say something?...the others only come in here and complain and talk about how they have writtten everyone including LK?

Unfortunately that sounds exactly like a MUC fan. You guys post like you cheer at games...weak....spoiled...no pair.... It's embarrassing to hear the whining about 5 fans.

So does MUC play this weekend? Any talk on that? Or is everyone too concerned about someones feelings getting hurt because a fan yelled at them...or a mommy crying because 1 of 5 people said her son stinks.

And as the story Pat posted goes on to say, Pierre doesn't reveal exactly how he ended up at Mount Union, except to say he saw them play on TV.  Your selective quoting is getting interesting, but go ahead and keep soundbyting.

There's a difference between saying "agent" and "agent-type" -- it's a much broader category.  And as I said, I have no problem with him seeking experienced counsel on an issue like that if he was hoping to take his career to the next step; it's obvious he has the talent for it.

I think Frank knows that Garcon isnt breaking NCAA rules and hiring an agent.  I understood that the implication is that he had an advisor or friend that helped him get to MUC and not a paid agent.

Pimp:  I've had my "discussions" with them in the past too.  Just figured I'd save everyone the lengthy read.  If you want to know, PM me.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

could we just get back to the football GAME...

I would certainly like to hear from SJF on what they believe their team must/will do to beat MUC....
Big point spread on the pic em....would like to hear from HS Coach on why....
strengths versus weaknesses on either  side of ball...

ps...did LK really hire an agent to inquire about the Michigan job?

Along those lines, you're simply an "ass-type hole".    Which could be any kind of stinking, puckering type hole.  Not the narrow minded definition.

You're obviously coming to Alliance with an agenda in place since you've already stated that you'll call MUC out if you "SENSE" any thing.  Isn't your job as a broadcaster to paint the word picture of what you ACTUALLY see and hear?   Not sense?

Good luck staying objective with an ex-SJF player as the color guy.  That's a great recipe.

Some comments don't even merit a substantive response.  This would be one such comment.

reality check

If Pierre Garcon wanted a "statistical opportunity" to impress NFL scouts and GM's, then why would he pick a school where he'd playhalf the time of most WR's in Division III and share so much spotlight with other talented skill players?  An increased visibility due to Mount's status in Division III?  Yes.  Being part of the best program in Division III?  Yes.  Having an opportunity to pad stats and showcase your skills versus other programs?  No.

How many guys have left MUC and seen a snap in the NFL?  Whomever this alleged "agent-type-personal-advisor-type-thing-a-ma-jig" is, the reasons stated don't exactly make sense to me.  Garcon would have more individual hype if he played 4 quarters a game at some other school that doesn't have the likes of Kmic to share the spotlight with.  NFL scouts look for size, speed, athleticism, etc. but you're really playing with fire when you only get 600 receiving yards in a regular season because you don't get that many balls thrown your way before it's 45-3 and the second-teamers are on the field.

SJF fans

Are you all pulling a TCNJ here and just avoiding the chatter this week?  We had to endure more smack in week one versus Ithaca from Fisher fans than we have seen this week.  Are any of you even lurking?

I want someone to tell us we're a bunch of "no-nothings" or something.  Anyone?  Anyone?

I'd like to hear that too.  We all know MUC is much more diversified offensively this season and slightly better defensively than last year.  Conversely, they lose their stud LB (Lang) who was their best defender against MUC and their best TB ever (Robinson) who sits #20 on the All-Time D3 rushing list with 4,840 yards.  Yet they're supposed to come into MUC and win?  If they're banking on just catching Mount on a bad day, or hoping the ball bounces their way, then so be it.  That's always a possibility, which is why we play the games.  But I've yet to hear a legitmate case to be made why SJF is going to play MUC tougher this time around.

Hmmm, why not.  Ithaca was getting 31.5 and everyone still took MUC.  My predicted finish is:
MUC 38, SJF 14.  Hence the spread.
