Nice article on Josh McDaniels (former JCU WR) in today's Boston Herald.

That word came from the top of the conference office who was present in the pressbox yesterday. But you are right they have not had to deal with it, I wonder if something is even in place. If that is the case I hope Northern gets the nod from the conference if they finish 9-1.  Because they don't want to have to leave it up to the voters and it would be a shame if they wouldn't get in.

In all honesty, they just might not realize what has changed since 1999. That would be a shame if the conference has neglected to put tiebreakers in place. The NCAA has no place in determining a conference's automatic bid and never has.

A lot has happened in between conference losses for MUC.

Congratulations Polar Bears
We at Linfield congratulate you for a great victory.  I heard the news while at our game ysterday, which was more a mauling than a game, and could hardly believe it.  Mt. Union is a great team with an unbelievable record which makes your great victory all the sweeter.  Let's see how far this bumps you up in the polls this week.

I'm an ex Ohioan myself having gone to high school in Wickliffe, OH and then went to College at Linfield.  I've been out in the West ever since and celebrated my 40th Linfield reunion in 2004.

Continued Success Polar Bears!!!

GREAT GAME ONU, HOWEVER  YOUR SEASON IS GOING TO BE BITTER SWEET BECAUSE YOU GOT HANDLED BY JCU.

If JCU beat Mount and lost to ONU 70-0, the Streaks would be rejoicing in the streets.  If you think anything about this season is bittersweet then you're flat out wrong.  It has been said that if OSU went 1-11 on a season, as long as that win comes against Michigan, then the season is a good one.  The same logic applies here.

...24 hours later and  my feet have yet to touch the ground.

reality check

Before I went to sleep last night, I recorded Sportscenter just in hopes that there would be a mention of the game yesterday.  I read on here about the clips before seeing it myself.  The hair on my arms stood on end when those clips came up.  I can only imagine what it would be like to see those clips, hear that update and read about the game on ESPN.com as a player who played in that game.

Incredible.

I do want to say it again though.  I tip my hat to the entire Purple Raider program.  The run has been incredible and the outcome of this game doesn't change a thing with regards to what has been accomplished and what MUC has yet to accomplish.  I really feel horrible for the Jackets because they are going to suffer from "punchingbagitis" this coming Saturday.

RC apparently hasn't heard the OAC tie breakers:

1. Best head-to head record over the last 20 games
2. Most playoff appearances in the last 20 years
3. Most wins over the last two seasons
and, if necessary 4. Team with the oldest football stadium.

Feet touching the ground now?

how far do you guys think MUC will drop in the polls
how high will ONU go up in the polls
do you think MUC still makes it to the Stagg Bowl
what do you think MUC will do now

jdean

1. 8 to 10th
2. 12 to 10th
3. Didn't think they would before yesterday, so still no.
4. Play BW next week

With as fast as the radio crew said they shut the scoreboard down, I am surprised this shot was taken.  Again all the respect in the world to Mount Union but this is the visual that guys like ohiofootball, onufb77, etc. need to see.

So in one week, BW will officially lose its streak but has anyone noticed that the longest "streak of mediocrity" is in jeopardy with our friends in Springfield.  WITT, which holds the current longest streak of winning seasons (since 1955) is 3-4 with games left against OWU, Wooster and Gheny.  We could get a double-dip this season.

Linfield holds the longest streak of winning seasons. Perhaps Wittenberg's is the longest streak of non-losing seasons?

Also, the Ohio Athletic Conference office has told me that in the case of a three-way tie that is unbreakable using head-to-head results, the conference football coaches will vote by secret ballot.

I asked for clarification, but I would expect that it's just the seven untied coaches who will vote.

I attended the Mount game yesterday.   Scoreboard to ONU.  After the game, on my way out, I congradulated the players, coaches and parents for their great victory.  IMO I said they kicked our a---es.

I have some questions to anyone who was there.  Did it make sense  to go for it on 4th and 1 at the Mount 45 with approx. 50 secs.  rather than ONU punt and put Mount 80 or more yards away with zero time outs left for Mount?  As a Mount fan I was happy they went for it.

Was there a reason Mount did not get at least one, even maybe two HAIL MARY's into the end zone with 10 seconds left?  All Mount got was a sack-game over.   There was not one receiver in the end zone.

Mount has to adjust to the type of team they have.  This is NOT a powerful off. line and there is not a "go to guy" to get the tough yards.  This has been a problem all season against better defenses.  The fourth and 6 ins. and you do not make it says all their is to know.  Mount has so many others ways when they get into the red zone to score(Double Cross) from watching them from past years, when they did not have a great back.  They still won the big one w/o this type of runner.  In 11 of the 12 quarters of the 3 games that Mount has faced a decent team, they haved avg. 16 pts a game.  The only exception was the fourth quarter against Cap.  I am also wonder who is calling the plays this year.  It appears LK is not.  Does anyone know for sure?

Mount will make the playoffs.  The defense after the first quater was awesome.
I'm concerned when better teams are in the playoffs that we have an offense

that can score and be more productive.  I still belive that this team can make it to the Stagg bowl.  They must get better or else this will happen again.  This was w/o a doubt he poorest offense I have seen for one game.

I also feel Capital can beat ONU.  They were  the fasest and quickest team this year.  If Rocky has a good game, I like them alot.  I did not feel ONU offense was that powerful.  GO MOUNT, Let's let his be a new start to winning 8 in a row.

that is an incredible shot!   RC , hope you celebrate till the cows come home!   but for those of us who are Purple faithfull, (and some of us  anticipated this possibility more than others) a reality check has set in.  God help the rest of those who will feel our rath!   it's not over!     ROLL~~Raiders
