Keeler seems to get along fine with his coaching peers and opponents. He's not perfect, but he's not the demon that the OAC makes him out to be.  You can't be a complete jackass and succeed as a head coach... unless you are Petrino or Sabin.

Your point is well taken.  While KC was at Rowan they provided the closest thing Mount Union had to a perennial rival for about ten years.  He has indeed continued his record of excellence at Delaware.  I have also read that he is indeed well respected by his colleagues in his region.  A number of circumstances, some beyond his control, have worked to taint his image among OAC and other DIII followers.

I guess we prefer our coaches a little older, less handsome, and less confident than KC.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Let me put it into my own perspective: K C Keeler shows up at my house with a scholarship offer for my son and Mike Hallett shows up with a story about the things he can do for my boy at Heidelberg .

Based on the quality of man in who's hands I am placing my son's future, I go take out some loans so my son can go to Heidelberg.

As a coach myself, I value the influence that coaches have on the young men and women in their charge. Arrogance is not a quality that I look to pass on to anyone. His record is secondary to what kind of a man I perceive him to be.

seventies:  Amen, but not all people share our values or see the world through the same color glasses (or dark shades).  A cool image can sell a lot of people.  Given Coach Keeler's success, it's difficult to discredit what he has been able to do or the style he has used.  It's just not the type we relate to.

Small but Slow

Along the same lines as my last post; A young man who chooses to attend Arkansas to play for Petrino, or 'Bama to play for Saban, doesn't necessarily lack in values, but you have to wonder about the messages he's going to learn from these gentlemen.  Is a lack of integrity and honesty by our "leaders" going to lead to a decline in morals and decency in society?  I hope it doesn't, but I fear the answer is playing out in front of us.  It was good to see a Tim Tebow, a fine student-athlete, and even better young man, win the Heisman.  Not that any of the finalists appeared to be anything but exemplary people.

And you're judging Keeler because you know him right?  You wouldnt base it just from what youve heard or seen on some sideline highlights.

I don't know the man but I know what your saying.....

There can be quite a difference between a perceived public persona and what the guy is like with his players and coaches.  From what I know of his career at Rowan, and what I've read in the papers concerning Delaware, players like playing for the man.

Many former players are coaching successfully in the high school and college ranks.

Hey Pat--never heard or saw anything about someone winning the Stagg Bowl package.  Did it not happen?  Did I miss it?  Was it just not publicized?

After rereading my own posts about Keeler, the facts are that he is clear Division I material in my book. Sorry, but I've never cared that much about Jim Tressell either. Takes a different breed of animal to cater to the prima dona's and low life "stars."

I'm a small town, small college, old school kind of guy. Keeler can be successfull, just do it somewhere else. Michigan would be fine.

Keeler is not the first, and definitely not the last to be disliked by rivals (or just random opponents).  It's nice to see humble guys, such as a Ron Zook, have success and receive recognition.  LK's respect for opposing teams and coaches along with his humility have aided in the longevity of his success.  A narcissistic coach can have success at a school on a short term basis, but long term success is not likely.

or bellichik or keeler in my opinion.

I like the handy dandy flip chart to have for the game.
