Thanks to both teams for giving all of us TV watchers a good game.

Whitewater was on another level today, and Beaver was unstoppable. He's the type of player we want little kids to look up to.

I should have realized that with MUC losing it would give all the Garcon experts an opportunity to type all their clever and incredibly important quips, digs and shots.

I don't care for his antics either; never have.  But I'm not going to start talking about how he wasn't really hurt and how he's not going to amount to anything.  He'll be in someone's camp whether it's NFL, Arena or CFL in the spring.

I think karma bit him in the butt and hope he remembers all the Warhawks mock-clapping him on that final kickoff he muffed around before falling on.  He'll always know his final college game was disappointing and maybe it will make him work that much harder and be that much more humble if he does get his shot at the next level.

You know, the humble pie isn't that bad.No shame to lose to a great team and the Gag winner to boot.LK said it would take their best game to beat them.

Just watched a replay of the last UWW TD on ESPN and I think Jones makes it in even if Beaver doesn't assist.

UWW got the bounces (OL recovers TD in the endzone) and seemed to want it more today.

Congratulations to Mount Union on a terrific football season!  Don't listen to the critics who can't be happy with anything besides a national championship.  What a great game.   Best of luck to the Raiders in '08!

Man, we just got flat out beat.

I am in need of an education on D3 football. How is it that Mount Union year in and year out ends up either in the finals or goes deep into the play-offs? They can't offer athletic scholarships as a NCAA D-3 school, but yet they win year after year after year....Even strong D-1 programs have their cycles. What gives?

AO

When you're not competing against teams that give athletic scholarships, you're back on a level playing field.  Mount Union has had a lot of success, thus recruits are attracted by success.

Not the best day to ask this question...

As a conference opponent to the Mighty Raiders I'll give you a quick run-down.  MUC was built on a solid foundation by head coach Larry Kehres.  He's won the right way for the right reasons and brings in good young men and graduates almost every one of them.  His kids play for team first and individuals second.  They are humble in their victories and don't settle for anything.  The program keeps reloading because of the quality of the man that is in charge (LK).  He recruits and grooms great young men which is also evidenced by the number of MUC alums coaching at other institutions.  Larry Kehres has never settled and will never allow his players to look ahead.  They play them one game at a time and settle for nothing less than the best effort.  And lastly, LK is a great tactician and technician of the game and his staffs make incredible adjustments and prepare their kids each and every week whether they're playing an 0-9 team or a 9-0 squad.  That's why MUC has had such success.

Multiple posters have eluded to running another 30 wins in a row off and I've chuckled each time.  30 consecutive wins sounds incredible for other programs but it sounds below average for a team that won 109 of 110 consecutive games.  The Raiders take them one game at a time and that's why they have managed to put streaks of 54 and 55 games together.

Enough of the Mount Union lovefest from me...

Congratulations to MUC on a great season.  I must admit that I was one who indicated that no one would be able to beat you this year.  You certainly made short work of our MIAC team, Bethel.  The Stagg was a fun game to watch this year.  I'm sure MUC and LK will be just as tough next year.  You guys have an oustanding coach and program.  I am glad, however, that some other teams in d-3 in recent years have been able to give you guys good games.  As I was joking with a huge MUC fan whom I know, you people should get time shares in Salem or something.  With LK, I am sure Gagliardi's record will be surpassed in a few years.

Great coach who's incredibly savvy and very down-to-earth (at least when I've met him -twice), great assistant coaches, excellent recruiting, years of success fostering even more success and ever higher levels.  From what little I know of him, LK's personality, I think, draws quality people because he's a great person and impresses recruits with his voluminous fb knowledge and historic success.  I don't think complimenting MUC is a love fest.  Rather, it's just reporting facts as they are.  For a school of under 2,000 kids to have a program like that is truly remarkable.

Awesome class shown by MUC with the Assist. Coach and Garcon.  Lost a little respect for Mt. Union after this one.  I guess that's what happens when they lose.  Disappointing to say the least.  :(

Congratulations on your total lack of class as well.

All my best to rest of the WarHawk nation. I guess we can't be too bitter about losing one out of five meetings. You guys played your hearts out today.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

And I add my kudos to both the Warhawk and Raider teams today.  With the exception of #1 -- a known issue -- and Kehres Jr -- he'll get his pee-pee whacked tonight -- I thought the MUC team handled their loss with calm composure (or resignation).

I wish I could read lips, but without that talent, I'll assume that Coach Kehres wasn't calling the team together with 37 seconds left to call an eleven-point play.  I have to assume that he was instructing them how to handle the loss with grace.

The great ones -- Frosty, Larry, John, Bob -- they coach life in addition to football.

Safe trip home to all ... September comes quickly.

Cheers!

Not that it's a surprise but you aren't qualified to make statements as to where MUC's success comes from.  Sure MUC's name carries some weight with recruits but they wouldn't keep winning if all they got was bandwagon kids wanting to jump onto a good thing while it's good...

Hmm come to think of it, "bandwagon kids wanting to jump onto a good thing while it's good..." that kinda sounds like you regarding Bethel.

Kids don't just pick MUC because of success.
