After watching the replay of the final UWW touchdown, it's actually possible, although not through visual evidence, that Jones scored the TD before the fullback pushed from behind.  The key here is whether Jones outstretched both arms or just his non-ball arm -- he comes down clutching the football but may have made the adjustment as he pushed forward (impossible to tell).  If BOTH arms were outstretched, then he did break the plane of the goalline on the initial stretch.  If he was clutching the ball the way he did when he came down deep in the endzone (when he rolls over onto his back), then he likely did not score on the initial push.  That's the best unbiased opinion I can give you about the play now that I've had the opportunity to slow it down, albeit over the Internet.

It pains me to say, but ONU now has the longest active streak among the conference....at two games.

Marietta is one of five teams with one win in the last two games...joined by Cap, Heidi, JCU and muc.

Riding losing streaks of at least two games,  Muskies, Ott, Wilma & BW

Looks like the Purple Suits made the Road games blog. Here is a Stagg Bowl account from Andrew Reed who is writing a book about college football fans and tailgating. It is safe to say after attending 14 D-1A big time games, he now knows what D-III football is all about! ;)

Thanks HSCOACH. I will offer your congrats to my son.  You all, well maybe not KCREDS, have provided hours of entertaining and (usually) insightful reading for me and I've become a DIII fan for life. Take care and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

rocketraider,

Just interested, but did your son get any D1 interest coming out of HS?

On the issue of "The Beaver Push", can we just drop this?  Yes, it was against the rules, but it is NEVER called.

This non-call had ZERO to do with the Mount loss.  They lost because UWW recovered their own fumble for a TD and then forced MUC fumbles when Mount drove into their territory.  Ballgame.

Amen and +k for that.

It's never called.  Two years ago the highest profile similar example was Reggie Bush pushing Matt Leinhart into the end zone at Notre Dame on national TV.  The difference there was it actually cost Notre Dame the game.  If Beaver pushed, it wasn't the deciding play of the game.  It didn't matter.  Let's fill the board with things that really matter, like whether or not Vince stole JK's girl in high school.  :P

(I'm going to get more -k from the Army for that even though I was awarded The Bronze Star for Meritorious Service by General Creighton Abrams.)

No way...

That's pretty impressive.  Nothing but +k from me.  ;D

When was this?  PM me.  I love military history, especially hearing others stories/ personal recollections.

Folks the end is not near, in fact it is no where in sight

So Mount lost their first road game since the loss to St Johns, who by the way kicked our butts. Last Saturday was ugly, but hardly a butt kicking. An inch here, an inch there, a slightly different bounce and it was a close or at least a different game. That was not true of the St Johns Stagg Bowl loss. Nothing we did was going to save us that day.

So, my #99 playoff jersey is back up on the wall of my classroom
I'll send in my check for my tickets when the letter comes next year.
I'll continue to wear my Mount Union coat to school and to talk up the college to any kid who will listen and some who won't.
I've always been proud to be from Mount Union and that didn't change Saturday

And I suspect the wheels in Larry's head were turning all the way home
and we ain't seen nothing yet.

And we're still the only school in recent years to win multiple DIII National Championships and you gotta respect that.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Without a doubt seventiesraider.  MU's program is still the one that everyone wants to emulate.  The last game of the season has in no way has changed that.
You can't have everything.....Where would you put it?

Quote from: WICB Sports on December 11, 2007, 08:37:43 PMOn Sunday, WICB presents its 2007 Bombers Year in Review from 6-8 p.m.as we highlight the top 10 moments from Ithaca College sports in 2007.  We'll have all the calls from 2007's greatest moments and the key athletes live in studio.  Our top 10:

6. Football team earns at-large berth for NCAA playoffs and scores 18 points against Mount Union.

I took out the others from the list, but their number 1 was winning the Cortaca Jug.  It was posted the week before the Stagg, but thought we could use a little smile at this point.  The part that made me smile was the second half.

What I wouldn't give for that to have been the most points scored on Mount all year!

JK- I got your Message, but like your status at capital, a JV'er can't message back.
- so check the email you have listed on your profile.

Truce? I thought you were a soldier. Oh I get it. You are on a secret mission posing as a soldier for the French.

Either way, I will move away from the personal attacks and respond to your Question.

The guys that come to mind as the toughest I had to block:
1. Mike Ivy- (DT) Wis. LaX
2. Dan Kloeping - (DT) Wis. Lax
3. Mike Maslowski - (LB)Wis. Lax
4. Pat Sloan - (DT) Albion
5. Doug(?) Moore - DT - JCU
6. #68 for Rowan in 98'-

Those are the first to come to mind without going back through the tapes to see who pancaked me more.

I would also agree with Pete Mathews from Musk, and O'Donnel from JCU, And Olivea from Marietta had arms as big as Ric's body.

To my liberal friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmental conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday. Practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasions of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious, secular persuasions and/or traditions of other, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, medically uncomplicated, recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures, who's contributions to society, make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country, nor the only America in Western hemisphere. Also this wish made without regard to race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference.

To my conservative friends:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Small but Slow

JT: You may have gone through almost an entire post without possibly offending anyone.  Very eloquently spoken, even though you lost me halfway through the first paragraph.

It's a Festivus Miracle!

An apology...

My comments regarding Vince Kehres were wrong.  I humbly apologize to all for airing personal feelings that have no place in this forum, and served absolutely NO purpose whatsoever.

Though I am sorry, it doesn't make what I did go away.  For that, I fully expect repercussions and the corresponding lack of respect that comes with it.  I accept full responsibility for my actions, and will attempt to overcome what I did in the future.

Thank you, and have a Merry and safe Christmas.
