s_s, Wow.  I have the highest respect for Wabash.  If this happened as described, Wabash is better off without the guy.  D3 is better off as well.

Now that he has scholarship money to give I will definitely be putting Collins in touch with some of the kids I coach down here in SC.

Speed is not a problem at SVSU.  Recent Cardinal graduates play WR for the Packers (Martin) and Broncos (Martinez).  The LB who replaced London Fletcher in Buffalo (DiGirgio) is also a SVSU alum, as well as one of the guards (Hermanson ? spelling) on the Eagles.
SVSU has had some great players, now there's a great coach there as well...

If you weren't there I wouldn't be spreading this. It is also a pretty weak move to wait until a guy has moved on to post something like this.

From my experience I highly doubt this is true.

I agree that we should drop it.

I was waiting for the right time to post this story, but with recent events I guess what I thought was the right time will never come.  With Creighton moving on to Drake from Wabash, Mount will never get a chance to play Wabash again with him as the head coach.  As much as he is held in high regard by the Wabash/NCAC faithful (and rightfully so), he is held in much lower regard in certain circles at Mount.  If there is one team I believe LK would have "put on the gas and never let up", it would have been Wabash if Creighton was the head coach.  I think this story shows that everyone out there is shades of gray.  No one is all good, or all bad.  Plus I think it also shows that we are all human, and hopefully learn from our mistakes.  I hold out that hope for Vince after his recent "charge of the Kehres brigade" at the Stagg.  Anyway, the story goes like this........

Eric Raeburn was at a coaching conference in/around 2003.  As most of you know he is a Mount grad, and his ties to LK and Dan Pugh are deep.  He bumps into Creighton during a break in the conference.  They start chit-chatting, and Creighton proceeds to run down the Mount program, LK, and references Mount's willingness and/or ability to get D-I/D-II transfers to end up at Mount to play football and finish their education.  He specifically mentions Pugh, and makes a disparaging remark regarding his play at Mount.

Well Raeburn is beside himself, and basically said if he hadn't been at a coach's conference, he would have let Creighton know in a more demonstrative way that he was full of crap, and should be careful who he is talking to.  Instead, he vehemently rebutted everything Creighton had spewed, and told him to take his bullcrap down the road.  Word is when LK found this out, he laughed and said Mr. Creighton was lucky to still have all his teeth.

After reading this board for a few years now, I have grown to respect the NCAC posters for their insight and passion for the D-III game.  Wabash in particular has loyal and intense fans that support their team and coach through thick and thin.  I get that, and applaud it.  However, Creighton wasn't the unblemished man he is painted to be.  Mind you, no one ever is.  Well, except for that crazy old man in Minnesota!   ;D

From what I've heard, S-S has really cleaned this story up for public consumption.  Which is why I was really, REALLY hoping MUC and Wabash would play in the playoffs.  The spread would have been 50+.  And I would have taken Mount!

Again, I really question whether this happened. I don't doubt there was a conversation but it would very much out of character of CC to talk badly of another program and especially players from another program. I would think if someone said LK did this there would be an unprecedented outcry from OAC and other people. I know CC well enough to know he is as likely to do this as LK, or mike swider would at a conference. So to continue to spread this kind of crap after he leaves wabash and without firsthand knowledge is extremely weak.

If you want to promote division 3 sports, do a google search for pontiac game changing performance and vote for the only d3 play that will likely be seen there for a long time.  We only have a few days left and Appalachain State is currently in the lead.

A vote for Trinity is a vote for d3football.

I too...like HSCoach have been hoping against hope that a Wabash/Mount game would happen.  My guess is LK would have addressed this situation at that time with a very definitive statement.

USee........I get that you respect and like the man.  From all appearances the Wabash faithful think/thought that Creighton was the man.  I guess I wanted to put out another view of the man, and quite honestly based on what I know of the situation (and I did clean it up for this board), I just can't respect  the guy like you do, and  think he is somewhat hypocritical.

you weren't there (cleaned up or not). I know this guy outside of wabash and unless you were there personally you are classlessly attacking someone whom you have never met. I find it highly improbable chris creighton would attack a program or another player at a conference to someone he did not know. And I find it even more preposterous you would hold this for 4 years and bring it up on the way out.

I also think LK has better things to focus on than some second hand account of a coach he doesn't know. If that's the power behing the Mt Union engine then we have all been decieved for a long time.

Again, if larry kehres would defame a program or another player to a stranger at a conference then its possible chris creighton could. You can defend your informant all you want but its pretty hypocritcal to attack another coach's reputation based on heresay and 2nd hand information.

I was really looking forward to the Capital/Mount battle next year, but without Collins there are some serious questions about the Capital program.  Especially if the thoughts (anti-athletics) about the new president is ture.  Which I have to believe with Collins' resignation.

Overall, this just makes the OAC weaker and makes Mount's run toward another OAC crown easier.  Who is the long term threat to Mount now?

Last line of the Dispatch article states that Bickel will not be joining him at SVSU.

I hope he is the replacement.

I don't want to bite of more than should be chewed right now but to answer your challenger question, I know that I and many Polar Bear fans thought 2006 was a prep year for a challenge against MUC in 2007.  It's going to be tough for sure but MUC does lose more than normal (of course retaining Micheli and Kmic is a solid start for another run at a title).  ONU will return Meadows and a couple quality backups at RB, Pankratz and Simmons at QB (but a decision needs to be made at QB), 6 of the 7 leading receivers including Ben Wittwer who led the team in most statistical categories and kicker Jake Heaphy who is easily the best kicker we've had since JR Cipra.  Defensively we lose Trusnik and Gunter which does hurt but we return a very talented and experienced backfield (minus Gunter), Washington at LB, and 3 of 4 on the D-Line including Fallis who led the team in TFL and Horn who led the team in sacks.

ONU does have some holes to fill but I think they are looking forward to 2008 already and will be ready and willing to challenge MUC if CAP takes a step back.  I just hope I'm correct.

RC,  if ONU hopes to contend then Simmons needs to be the QB from day 1.

My way too early prediction for next year is:
1.  Mount
2.  ONU
3.  Capital
4.  BW
5. Otterbein
6.  Heidelberg
7.  John Carroll
8.  Marietta
9.  Wilmington
10.  Muskingum
