I figured after he was a finalist for the UWW job last year that his days were numbered at Marietta.

Mount Union have anyone left for the head job at Marietta?  Speaking of UWW, how about Coach Z?

We have about 100 High School head coaches out there. Hey, Maybe B J Payne is ready to move up. He could coach on Saturday afternoons and then go wrestle in West Virginia on Saturday nights

Wasn't Bill Schroeder, the former Packer, also a Wisc. LAX guy?  He may have been on the '95 team.

If I may, SbS, Bill Schroeder is from UW-La Crosse, but he was in the NFL in '95, though he didn't get any playing time until '97.  Billy was a track star at UWL, but the Packers (Ron Wolf) were interested enough with his athletic ability to draft him in the 1994 draft, round 6/pick181.  Still holds many WIAC/UWL track records. He was last active with Tampa in 2004.  Last I heard he was taking up long-drive golf in his free time.

Updating OAC'ers in the arena leagues, Rusty Midlam was picked up by the Green Bay Blizzard of AF2 after leading the AF2's Lousiville Fire in tackles last season.

A bit of info for the Mount old timers.....Ron Lynn named defensive coordinator at Stanford..
Ron has some incredible resume info....38 yrs coaching...much of it in NFL , I believe...

Thanks RaiderPa. We spend a lot time worrying about which kids might make the bigs and we forget about the handful of DIII's  (actually we all go back to College Division) like Dom and Ron that have around the NFL for years outside the white lines.

That is great news for Coach Lynn. He was always a class act and great to work with. Good Luck at Stanford Coach.

TheeBuffaloSabres,

While the OAC board has been known to be home to many non-football conversations, it's pretty rare.  About the only time football isn't the main topic is when we're talking about Doeder's on-field skills.

That said, if Tim Russert wants to take a cheap shot at the Buckeye State, maybe he has more in common with Doeder than we thought!

Coach Lynn was my db coach for four years and is as fine a guy as there is in football,at any level.Congratulations coach.

Acky

Coach Lynn going to Stanford is an interesting turn of events.  I believe he was a coach for Cal in the Lateral - Band game.  I remember him talking about it a couple of years ago when he was back at Mount for a reunion.  Coach Lynn was an assistant baseball coach under Jack Rafeld.   That is how I got to know him.   He is a very good guy and I wish him the best.

"Class" is a good one word description for Ron Lynn.

gotcha, its not gonna stop me from trying though. and it wasnt russert, it was the three on the panel. ESPN has Garcon ranked as the 51st best receiver in the draft class, anyone know how many receivers get drafted per year?

BoBo

TBS, Check out NFLDraftScout.  The five year average for WR drafted is 33/year, with 37 in 2003 being the highest during this period.  Also, including FA's, they say approximately 110 WR will make it to a NFL camp.  They said that 160 WR in their rankings got at least to camp or had a tryout last year.  BTW, Garcon currently listed at 46 with an up arrow following his name indicating his stock is rising.
