Scott Campbell has exactly 4 receptions on the year and two of those were in the first game against Washington U. His last catch was in the 59-7 drubbing of Marietta.  They just don't use the tight end with the spread offense.  Saturday they could of used a healthy Pierre Garcon.  He is the playmaker for this offense and they'll need him for the playoffs.  Besides I pretty sure LK knows what he is doing.  They have adjusted their schemes to fit their talent and they have tremendous depth and talent at WR. As a result they don't use the TE as much.
The impossible CAN happen and eventually it WILL happen.

Well ONU got fed up and took back their lunch money on Saturday.

rc,

With all due respect, you may need about 10 more in a row to get ALL your lunch money back! ;)

onyxrook

ypsi,
most times you don't need to get all of your lunch money back to get the bully to lay down.  you just need to show that you can't be bullied anymore :)
And for the students, another full drawer of clean undies!

Hey reality choice,
You are such a loser, the biggest loser in fact.  You beat Mt, and that is great, congrats.  But you act like you are undefeated.  You had 50 hung on you by an average team at best!  Keep throwing your weight around, your big belly might just come back up and hit you in your General Studies eye.  Good thing that you saved all of that defense for Mt and didn't let it go to waste holding Joyce Carroll Uni from hanging 50 on your sorry a**.  The fact is RC, you think because you beat Mt that now you somehow inherit all of their mystique and wins.  You don't.  Mt. lost by a handful of points, you lost by more than 2 dozen!  Come down off of your high horse.  You got us,  I am glad for you because this is just what those raider players need to get back on track.  Good luck the rest of the year.  Don't piss down your leg the way BW did in '94.  Oh wait, you already did.

50-25 - get a grip bears and please return that giant bear head you run out of to the video porn store whose roof you grabbed it from.

KO-HAWK (I'm not as clever with the name calling; "reality choice", that's a real winner though)

I guess in all my gloating, I didn't give MUC any credit or respect.  Here let me look back at all the trash I've been throwing at Mount...

Congrats on such an incomparable record over the last decade plus of dominance.  Mount deserves to be congratulated now more than ever for its record and consistency over the years.

I do want to say it again though.  I tip my hat to the entire Purple Raider program.  The run has been incredible and the outcome of this game doesn't change a thing with regards to what has been accomplished and what MUC has yet to accomplish.

Again all the respect in the world to Mount Union but this is the visual that guys like ohiofootball, onufb77, etc. need to see.

I wanted to thank you for a very well written game summary.  I read ONU's release (of course) but I was interested in your take.  I would suspect you always had an idea of how you would paint the picture when the streak finally came to an end.  You did a very good job of setting the stage and recapping the outcome.  Thanks for your hard work and great site.  If I had a little more resources and were not so geographically handicapped, I would love to put something together for my Bears.  Also I wish there were a way to get your broadcast on the web because I would love to hear you do your thing.

I think the coaches would vote in ONU to avoid a committee omission and MUC is definitely in as an at large.  If all three teams did make it, I would bet ONU gets shipped to another region all JCU 2002.  They wouldn't ship JCU out again and MUC could still be the #1 seed in the east as an at large.

In fact all I have done since Saturday is talk about inheriting Mount's mystique and wins as you can see.  It's obvious I think ONU is a better team than MUC now, yesterday and forever.  The only smack I will talk about Mount is your poor sportsmanship in name-calling and finger-pointing.  Most of the Mount guys are great people and great posters.  There are always a few bad fans at any school.  I like to think I support ONU in a positive manner and here's some news for you: When ONU is not in the playoff picture I am on here posting in support of the OAC when all the degenerates come in.  Congratulations to you.  Most of the MUC faithful took this loss in stride and dealt with it.  They gave credit where credit was due.  They are looking forward to the next streak to start this weekend.  Those are the true fans at Mount.  You however are "that guy".  The one that belittles a team that gets the best of you rather than being sportsmanlike, the guy that mistreats fans from the other school, the guy that stole BWMom's magnets.  Thankfully, I know that MUC has some great fans and posters.  Thankfully, they're not all like you.  They are the reason that so many outsiders came in here to acknowledge the win for the Bears AND congratulate Mount for its dominance.  If all Mount faithful were like you, no one would have shared congratulatory comments for the Raider run.

And FYI, my big belly hits my Fine Arts eye.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my last post about fans? I feel the pain.

So if I get this right The Shoe should be empty because OSU doesn't win the national title every year. OSU football is boring.

Duke should have an empty arena because they win so much.

So Cal and Texas must me next to suffer from a winning backlash.

What the hell do they want (sorry about this) Heidleberg or Hiram.
Ok so if we get to the point where the team wins maybe 6 or 7 out of 10 then they will show up again.

"If you lose.....they will come"

This also must mean that the basketball games are filled to the walls with cheering fans because they love to cheer on a loser. Oh but they probably don't go to those games because it is a foregone conclusion that we are going to lose.

The money for the scoreboard probably came from the athletic budget. Let me see, gate receipts are a part of that so...when do we have the most$$$$$(3500) fans at any one event. HMMMM.

The football team gets all the attention? I remeber all the way up here about the great womens bball team awhile ago. They have now hired what appears to be another winner to coach them. Better just roll up the bleechers because if she starts winning they won't need 'em. Nobody likes a winner.

What scoreboards don't work and does anyone know about it. Get a new freekin bulb for gosh sakes.

As a grad I am proud to be associated with a  "School of Champions" because we certainly have been champions at someting other than football. Like maybe life in general. A Mount grad invented Mr. Coffee! Trivia time. I know it's not a cure for cancer but it has sure cured alot of other problems we have all had.

If football has given us a national stage why not use it. Recognition to D3 schools is not the easiest to gain but we have managed to stumble into listings of great schools and that has nothing to do with football.

Everyone in  the "I hate the football" camp should be very happy and even be proud of the fact that maybe since they didn't go to the game they own a piece of the loss.

One thing is for sure it was bigger news nationwide than anything else that happened while those students were doing their laundry.

Made headlines in three major papers I receive and ESPN too.
I know if we had won there wouldn't have been a word in those papers about Mount Union College. That must be better.

I promise I am done with this subject. But thanks for letting me vent and the horse isn't dead.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Mr. Ypsi

raiderguy,

I hear ya!  IWU has more CCIW bball titles than the next three teams combined, but still annually leads the conference (and is among the top 3 in the NATION) in attendance.  While it's true that we haven't had any 110 game winning streaks, we have won well over 90% of the games in the Shirk center.  (Winning is almost 'presumed', but not guaranteed.)  I'm rather mystified that consistent winning would HURT attendance!

On the other hand, I've also heard the cries of pain from others on your campus - IF it is true that fball rules TO THE DETRIMENT of other sports (and other students), then shame on the fball program for not being REALLY d3 (I have NO idea whether or not that is true, but it seems to be a feeling among some on campus).  Perceptions (whether right or wrong) CAN have consequences, so I'd strongly urge MUC to address those feelings, SOON.

oldmantoo

I have been a season ticket holder for a number of years and sit on the open side.  This would be the side most likely to witness any confrontations.  I really do not understand where the comments keep coming about MUC's poor sportsmanship.  The only bad response I ever had seen and I must confess I can not remember when a bunch of drunk, obnoxious and out of control students from Wheaton or Wabash were at a play off game.  I apologive to the other school whichever it was because we played them back to back that year.  The other school was a model of good behaivor and sportsmanship.  These visiting students were actually consuming beer in the stadium, they threw empty beer cans in the urinals and behaved like a bunch of idiots.  I think the police threw a couple of them out.  Some of them turned and swore at the crowd.  They got the goat of some people and they got verbally abused, in fact, there may have even been some purshing and shoving.

I am actually more concerned about the MUC fans.  It is too quiet, there is not much excitement.  Maybe the loss will bring things back.

I do know it was miserable while sitting in the rain at the ONU game.  I beginning to think the roof ought to be taken off the other side.  I think the MUC ticket holders over there are too complacent.

I am sad that I am going to miss the game this Saturday.  I have a wedding to go to that there is no way my wife will let me skip out of ;D

Thanks for that last post. Well said!

oldmantoo,  Last year when we came to Mount Union with UMHB, the Mt. Union fans couldn't have been nicer.  It was a great trip for us, although I didn't like the snow. :)

In none of my ranting do I want to suggest this has anything to do with Mount Union fans not showing good sportsmanship. I have spent enough time with fans from other schools that have visited out campus and they have all said we have been every part the great host.

(Except the '93 playoff game where some still think we watered the field prior to the game) They need to look to the Heavens for that answer.

A little cocky maybe. Some would call that a "swagger". We sorta earned it don't you think? But overall the sportsmanship issue is not one that hits the radar screen. Even talking to our opponents players has always left me with a pride in the way we act win or lose. They could be our harshest critics and that is not the case.

What the heck is wrong with cheering. Blow off some steam from the week. Show that even at 60-70-80-90 and above that you are alive. Go home with a warm and fuzzy about being a true part of a victory as opposed to just a casual bystander. I can tell you that feeling is pretty nice when you activily particpated in that win.

I do put a certain amount of that responsibility on the students to set the tone.

Anyway let's lose a few more to get the support back? Just think we will not have the home field advantage this year. Assuming we are in the playoffs so the fans will not have to worry about sitting out in the cold anymore this year. I guess they get what they wanted.

"What should we do today Reginald?"

"I don't know Margaret.  Dear old MUC isn't playing today because they lost last week"

"It is a shame for those poor boys. I wish there was something we could have done."

"True, very true. More tea Margaret"

"Yes thank you Reginald"

And for the students another full drawer of clean undies!
Just waiting for basketball season to start.
