If you don't like it, don't come a knocking in the OAC board.

Do you smell what the ROCK is Cooking?!

You used the name "Assman" 10 times in that article.  LOL

Ass-man?  What did you expect from an ex-center?

Here is a Pre-Season AA list I've not seen before:

For the scrimmage kick formation to be legal it must be "obvious that a kick may be attempted." NCAA R 2-15-10   After a few plays without a kick, it no longer would seem obvious.  As a "gimmick" play it's legal, but, it seems to me, not for every down.  If you kick once on third and long, then you might be able to run it in third and long situations.

Non football but blowing up things is always fun to watch.  When KS was in the Navy his sub got to do this once.   KS got to see a b&w video of it taken from the scope camera after the fact.  KS was busy during the sink-ex in the torpedo room.  Blowing up old ships is fun.

I went to their webpage and they did the background with the CA HS Athletic Association and got the approval before implementing it last year.

Great effort with your preview.  Regarding the ONU preview, there are a couple notable players back for fifth years or from injuries that will be major players this fall.

Ryan Robertson returns after a year off.  He's got 16 career starts at corner and is an accomplished speed/cover guy.  He's a multiple-time All-American in the high jump and 4x100.  With Robertson, Rasmussen, Porter, Wenzler and Buchanan, the Bears have some very good depth at DB.

Josh Lokai-Owens returns for a fifth year after a medical redshirt to the defensive line.  In his junior season he accounted for 8 TFL and 34 tackles.  Adding Lokai-Owens to the trio of Stone, Horn and Strange equals a very solid two-deep to pressure opposing QB's.  With Fallis and Azzarello in the middle of the defensive line, they've got 6 great options for 4 spots.

Adam Benchic returns after an injury kept him off the field in 2007.  He will most likely start at right tackle after getting all ten starts in his sophomore season of 2006 at center and guard.  If he returns to form at right tackle, the right side of the line looks extremely tough.   There might not be any first team all-OAC'ers from years past in this group but they are not green by any means.

I'm not trying to say these guys are saviors but they all started prior to missing seasons.  Two have to come back from injuries but all indications are that they are right where they left off.  Robertson comes back after focusing on track and field and won't be a drop-off from Steve Gunter.

Another interesting note is that when ONU goes up against North Central in game one they will be facing off against former ONU offensive coordinator under the Kaz years in Rick Ponx.  I hadn't seen his name since the whole Kaz debacle but he's been there for a while and obviously doing well.

On another note, Jamal's had a couple slow weeks production-wise in Toronto although he has a D-III teammate now in former Ramapo College basketball player Todd Lowber who signed on with the Argos practice squad.  Lowber apparently spent last season as a NY Giants practice squad player and got himself a Super Bowl ring for his time and trouble.

Jason Trusnik is apparently still recovering from the injury that ended his first year with the Jets as he was placed on the PUP list this week.  He missed the final game of the 07 season with the Jets after coming up big on Special Teams for the Jets in games 10-15.

Reality check:

Great insight on our Bears. One small correction: it's Andrew Benchic not Adam, and you are so right - both he and Loco are not the saviors, but both bring incredible leadership qualities to the team. The ONU defense will be able to play with anyone.

If ONU can figure out the offense, it could be quite an interesting year. Simmons has a year under his belt and if RJ Meadows can return to form they will be a force this year. I'll be there at North Central IL - can't wait 'til the season starts!
One game at a time!!!
