It would be better to play than not play at all.  Witt would never come to A town  Wabash might.

At the half...ONU 3, NCC 0

Another goal line stand for the Bears.  A 28 yarder to end the half puts ONU up 3-0.  NCC has to be kicking themselves after having 1st and goal from inside the 5 on 2 different possessions and coming up empty.

Dr. Acula

End of the 3rd....NCC 10, ONU 3

Ugh...2 more lost fumbles for ONU in the 3rd qtr.  The first was returned 29 yds for a TD.  Not sure how much is the wet conditions and how much is good D, but neither team has 200 yds of offense through 3.

NCC 20, ONU 3 - FINAL

ONU's offense struggled.  And things generally aren't going to end well when you're -4 in the turnover battle.

5 Turnovers on the road.  Enough said.  Hopefully ONU can build on what happened in Naperville and fix things for OAC play.

I vote for the Bears figuring it out for Week 3.

All in favor, say "AYE".
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

So, the OAC goes 7-3 outside the league.  I really thought ONU would come out strong and make it 8-2, but fumbles hurt big time.

Aye- Aye Skipper, I'm sure it is a deep wound, this loss is, but not life threatening. If history holds true, I'm sure they will have the cannons loaded and ready to fire next week. We can only hope they don't scuttle the ship and shoot the parrot. It should be a very interesting game I think. The field conditions will be much improved I'm sure, over what they played on or in this week. I'll have to keep my eyes on this little box, since I will be out of town next week, but I'll be wearing the PURPLE STUFF come Saturday!

HSC, Are you going to the JV game tomorrow?

We spend Millions on the Buckeyes and missing one player, they suddenly look like Kent State???

I'll tell you a secret, this ain't a National Championship team, maybe not even top ten.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

The collective sound of Buckeye Nation puking after another putrid performance in a big time game.

Wasn't it just a few years ago that people were discussing what a great big game coach Jim Tressel was?  After three straight embarassments in front of National TV audiences, that discussion has surely ended.  I'm starting to believe the Buckeye haters and the majority of the rest of the country...

I know Jim Tressel bought himself a lot of goodwill with the National Championship in 02, but I think that luster is starting to fade quickly.  One way or another, something has to change.  I hate to say it since he is a graduate of the same High School as me, but I think it is time for Jim Heacock to move on.  I've said it several times before, and now I believe it even more.  There certainly is enough blame to go around, but when you look at the NC year as opposed to the last couple, the difference is in the Defense.  Mark Dantonio was the DC in the NC year, and they played great against Miami and kept themselves in it, even when the Bucks got behind.  The last two NC games and tonight, once the Bucks got behind, it just kept rolling because the D couldn't get stops.  The D runs almost no line stunts that I have seen, the linebackers don't blitz a lot and when they do, it always seems like they are coming straight up the field instead of from different angles, and that doesn't work against good o-lines.  The coverages always seem to have holes and DB's aren't in good positions to make plays.  The Defense has just gotten so basic, and I think the good coaching staffs are catching up becase the Buckeye Defense is easy to gameplan against.  Simply put, Ohio State is getting outcoached.

Here is the other thing: Jim Tressel has no one on his staff that is a fire you up, get in your face, yell a you when you make mistakes kind of guy.  I know I have said some not so nice things about Vince Kehres, but he is the perfect complement to LK.  The yin to his dad's yang, if you will.  LK and Jim Tressel have very similar demeanors, and that is fine.  But, in my estimation, every head coach who is like that needs a guy on the staff who will yell and scream and hold guys accountable.  Sometimes you have to get in a kid's face a little bit...some just respond better to that.  Jim Heacock is not that guy, he's just like Jim Tressel.  In all the assistants OSU has lost over the years, they have lost those guys from the staff (Dantonio, Tim Spencer, etc.).  There is ZERO emotion from the coaching staff, and it DEFINITELY reflects in the players.

We'll see if they can regroup.  Hopefully Capital brings me a little more joy this coming Saturday than the Buckeys gave me tonight.

mtfan

Couldn't say it any better JK, there is no fire in the coaching staff nor even enough in Tressel. It's not that Ohio State doesn't have the talent level, its because they are being beat play in and play out by the guys with headsets across the field! Sure Tressel can smooth talk a defeat down to as smooth as grandmas apple pie, which pizzzazzzes me off, because when the team is fed the same way they get fatter and lazier with each challenge! I'm not saying he's not a great coach, but great coaches know how to get the best out of their players, even if it takes lighting a blow torch under someone's helmet! As long as OSU is complacent with mediocracy in coaching, they'll continue to be the whippin' boys for other elite programs of the SEC and Pac10 and have to listen to the chats of "OVER-RATED!" from the opposition's fans.............that should be enough to make anyone sick!

HScoach

Ugh.   I love Coach Tressel and what he's done with the OSU 'program', but he needs to be less loyal to the assistant coaches.  Heacock should be replaced.  Period.

Results for Week 2 of the Pick-Em's has been posted.  Spreads for Week 3 to follow

USC is going to send OSU a bill for cleaning the urine off the field. Both OSU lines pissed their pants last night and the starting QB looked dazed and confused most of the time. Boeckman was the 4TH best QB on the field last night behind both USC QBs and Pryor. The O line had no idea who to block, if they did it was too late....USC was way too quick for them. Im not ready to jump on Tressel just yet, but slow and huge linemen are on their way out. OSU has to recruit some ATHLETIC linemen in the very near future. I gues that makes MUC the best football team in Ohio right now!
