go 100% with Pryor at QB...he seemed more composed than the senior...the running threat he poses will open receivers more effectively.....don't count on Beanie...he is just one  injury after another...the fact that he gave up on the handoff when his "tootsie" hurt says a great deal to me about his real heart for the game...IMO  He isnt tough enough to carry the Heisman...

I have seen receivers get knocked out and hang onto the ball....

hscoach,

You didn't have to go through all that to explain it to me.  All you had to do was say "Minerva" and I would have known exactly what you meant.  In fact, before I read on and you mentioned the NBC, I saw your formation and immediately thought "That looks just like the formation Minerva used to use."  Then I remembered you are a Minerva guy when you mentioned WB and Louisville.

I hated that offense.  It worked to perfection during my Junior year when your team of Sophs and Jr's beat COnnon Thompson, Scott Loudon, Jason Morris and the rest of us.

JK,

We definitely had some good battles back with Laut and Molen on the sidelines.   Now, not so much.....
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

How did the Raiders JV do against Ashland?  Are these the "scholarship" players that Ashland plays against Mount?
I know that MUC has handled them pretty well in the past, but didn't know if it was Ashland's "top tier" young players.

TBH, the offense was really sloppy during the first half and for the beginning of the 2nd. The first AU score was after a bad punt snap, and the AU defense tackled the punter on the 1 yard line. Two interceptions also led to scores for AU. If that wasnt enough, there was a muffed punt return AND a kick off that bounced off the feet of an MU player that AU recovers and then scores.

Interesting though, the defense played remarkably well. There were only a couple of plays that really stood out. Roughly a 60 yard TD Reception to the tail back where the LB was just outmatched on speed down the sideline. On a 3rd and 25, where the QB was able to scramble for a first down. Other than that, they handled the AU offense.

The offense did get their act together and managed to score 3 touchdowns late in the game. Final Score 28-23, Mount Union.

I went to the JV game and was really impressed by the 90 yard punt return late in the game that put us up for good. The Eagles certainly seemed more fired up for the game than we were and had a huge line. However, the young Raiders have a lot of talent, especially at running back, receiver, and on the D-line. I did notice LK made his presence felt at halftime when we were down 17-7 and there was quite a difference in the second half in the way we played.

I was told to not be too very hard on these JV's who really haven't had much time together and aren't very sharp. On the whole most high school JV games are at a higher level because the JV's at least see action as the practice squad. Most of our freshman are a year or two from that distinction.

The Crews Lake MS Raiders had our second game tonight.  We came up on the short end of the scoreboard again at 12-0.  The team fought hard and we are making small steps and adjustments towards becoming a winning team.
