Jorris still gets to do stats enhancement against Muskingum and H'Berg. Not that I think that he is even in the running. Let's talk about this after Week 10 or Week 11 yadda yadda  yadda

PS Hopefully we actually try to pass a few times in the next two weeks. Mount is starting to look like OSU in the early sixties

Reality Check

I'm not saying Jorris is the best quarterback in the OAC.  Believe me, over the past two weeks he's been overthrowing his receivers and they had some drops against BW.  Also his favorite target is hurt and hasn't played an entire game since Wilmington.  I'm just saying that he should be counted among the top QB's in the OAC right there along with Rocky and Phillips.  You just can't ignore specific performances.  Jorris played a great game against a good JCU team.  To me you can't ignore that. Numbers do not lie.  And I think Jorris should be considered among the top QB's in the OAC.
The impossible CAN happen and eventually it WILL happen.

4u (and others in the QB debate)-
I think that if Phillips has another great game, it would be hard to find a more deserving candidate for best QB in the conference.  Pentello can do the same, although his stats right now are not as impressive.  Everything is gelling for the Streaks passing offense right now.  Welo and McDonald are speedsters (Welo was a former RB, used mostly in the slot), while Konrad and Mattucci are simply catching anything.  Anybody who saw Konrad's performance on Saturday has to know this kid is for real.

cufan-
JCU's defense has had a lot of injuries, most notably the loss of Mark Warren for the year in the first game.  I think they've only had the same starting defense 3 times.  Whether or not they get sacks, they're getting the job done...including shutting down Stelzer, something your boys couldn't do.  Stelzer's numbers:  31/46, 301, 2/1.  Sacks didn't do you a whole lot of good that game.

Regarding the quarterback debate.  Let's compare all three when they played each other.  Big game...what did they do?

Neither Pentello, or Phillips did anything against Mount.  Jorris played well against both of them.  I will be the first to admit he has stunk it up lately, but in "big games", he has played well two out of the three.

Food for thought.

While it's awfully early to be talking about post-season awards, one thing to keep in mind is the year of the individuals in question, past history and what the team did.  When all things are equal, the senior usually gets the award over an underclassmen.  A steady multi-year starter is more likely to get the award over a newcomer that may be considered a flash-in-the-pan.  And we all know that the all-league awards (especially QB's) go to the best QB on the better teams.

Right now, I think the 1st team QB is a HUGE question mark in the OAC.  If the season ended right now, Phillips would probably be the choice because he's the hot commodity right now.  Jorris has been terrible the last 2 weeks which takes him out of the discussion, and besides on a good year most people think a monkey could QB Mount.  Pentello is probably the sentimental choice because he's been good for 3 years, but his numbers keep going down as he gains more experience.  The good news that the season still has 2 more weeks to decide this.  My pick for 1st team QB is which ever QB has the bigger game this Saturday at Capital (assuming his team also wins).
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Yeah, Jorris has done well in big games.

13-27-3-184 vs ONU

ONU,

The MT score is still on your school's homepage and did you guys add taxidermy to your general studies major

Jorris is not Bruny,Adamson,Smeck,or(moment of silence),Number7 Bill Borchert or The Great Jim Ballard.Who is?He 's just a young QB,who,on the whole ,has played well.LK doesn't play bad QBs.He's started freshmen at QB.The offence is adjusting. We still have a championship defence. It will be fun to go on the road to some of these teams homefields.Fun for us ,that is.

skunks-
I hate to break it to you, but somebody has to tell you this:  JCU and Capital have other big games besides Mount Union.  For JCU:  ONU was a big game, Phillips: 24/33, 306 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT.  Otterbein was a big game, Phillips:  19/27, 403 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT.
If that's doing nothing in a big game, I wish more players did nothing more often.

Your food for thought tastes terrible.

KO-HAWK

Do you understand the concept "two out of three"?  When you decide to rip on someone's statements, try remembering context.  He said Jorris has played well in two out of three big games...

And since you seem to need some direction, try going here:CLICK ME KO-HAWK.  This is the athletics page and as you can see they update all sorts of stuff.  Maybe you can go to d3crosscountry.com and talk smack about the ONU women's team there too.  In case you didn't know it, and believe me it's been covered, not much goes on in Ada so the onu.edu website doesn't exactly scroll with updates.  Although I am surprised the closing of Hardee's didn't make the big board.  The enrollment press release for example was first reported Sep. 26th.

KO-HAWK, give it up.

Reality Choke,
I am simply pointing out a fact.  ONU beating MT was two weeks ago, the school needs to give it up, the football team gave up already.

RC I mean this in all seriousness. Who submits players for Player of Week, especially defensive player of the week, after they suffer a humiliating defeat? ??? I guess it makes Hostetler this week's OAC Dubious Achievement Award winner. Makes me come slightly closer to agreeing with Kehres about not promoting individual awards.

The school needs to give up what exactly?  They need to give up pointing out facts?  Hmm, I've read something about pointing out facts before but I can't remember where.  We should also let the people at Sports Illustrated to know they should retract their little commentary on the MUC/ONU game because it happened two weeks ago.  What are they (ONU, SI, or anyone who has more sense than you) thinking?

Seventies

That bothered me too.  I can't remember if votes are submitted by SID's or the coaches.  I do know, as you eluded to, that LK does not allow his players to be voted for POTW.

The only thing I can figure is that no one did anything better on paper than Hostetler Saturday.  A quick glance at the results reveals that last week only Muskingum had any players with 2+ sacks or 2+ INT's in a game.  I would give my vote to Musky's Nathan Hedge who had 2 INT's himself but also forced a fumble and had 6 tackles in their win over the BERG.

KO Hawk-
If anything needs to be given up, it's you're personal crusade against Ohio Northern.  If you think ONU should take down some announcement on their website, I can only assume that you're currently begging the administration at Mount Union to "give it up" and take down all those National Championship banners.  Those were, like, YEARS ago (same logic, right?)!

It's not like Ohio Northern gave up 40 points or something. Isn't it possible to have a good defensive performance in a loss?
