Hey, bambord, uh, you might want to think before posting  somehting so stupid in the future. I generally avoid replying on this board if I might say something so dumb. The issue of replacements for Micheli, Kmic etc. will take care of itself down the road but I guarantee you there are guys 4, 5 and 6 spots down the depth chart who are bound and determined to be the replacement if they can get their shot. Playoff shape? What the heck is  that?

rocketraider

On another note, the Sunday night game November 2 will feature a couple of former Mount Union Raiders as Pierre Garcon represents the Colts and coach Dom Capers the Patriots. How cool is that?

JK

ThunderMom...

I had repressed that memory.  Thanks for bringing her back up and making me relive the nightmare of her personal assault on the MUC posters and MUC in general.

As you know, I am not a MUC fan, but she was over the top in a way that defies explaination

I would not say it was stupid - uninformed is a better phrase. However, since you chose "stupid" we'll go with that.

Your question on "playoff shape" is pretty stupid. That is a term generally used to refer to a contest that is not decided (usually) within the first 1:30 of a game. In other words - if you play on a team that has never had to play the second half, you may struggle later in the game. Additionally, if you have not played an entire game you may not be used to recovering quickly for the next game. The playoffs are a grind - you are playing the best of the best every week. Now I said that the playoffs are not usually decided in the first 1:30 - Mount has played a few that were over before that, but this is the exception.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Micheli's replacement is playing in high school right now >:(

Won't help for next year, but the kid could keep his uniform to wear at Mount in 2010 ;D

Gotta love the ex-Raiders taking The Machine to the high schools.

I was trying to see how big this kid is but can't find it. You know Lee Owens may take the Ashland JV win and pop over to Lexington for a visit  ;D!

Scout.com has him listed as a Safety, 5'9" and 158lbs., and graduating in 2010, so he may be a year out.

Courtney Avery

Another site has him listed as 5'10":

Ohio State Rivals.com

And another listed him at 5' 10", 165lbs.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if he was going to have the D1 size thing - but it appears not. Maybe a MAC school might come calling - but I like the idea of him going to MUC. Seems to be a smaller version of Micheli (mobile and can throw).

pradierguy

In regards to the QB for next year, I have a question. (Pardon my ignorance on the subject)

I remember my freshman year, there were at least 4 kids who lived on my floor alone who came to MUC to "play QB". Now many of them switched to TE/DB/etc,  and some quit, but some played QB.

My question is where are those kids? Didn't they bring in any QB's in this and last year's classes?

What I think will happen will be a situation very similar to Randy Mason (throwback)/Mike Jorris ala 2005. I think the incumbent senior (Rocco) will be given the spot with the expectation of someone else (TBD) to get about 40-50% of the snaps with one of them taking completely over by week 7 or 8. I personally hope this happens and the younger QB wins the job.

I don't think I want a true Freshman starting nor do I want Rocoo to be the guy after what I have seen this season.

Just my thoughts....

Pradierguy- As a former QB himself, Larry obviously works to attract QB's to his program because even at the smallest school level, the Quarterback is more often than not, the smartest, most athletic kid on the team. Heck in some Division VI schools he may be the only athletic kid on the team.Larry has his standards of the kind of young man he is looking for abd they very often are the ones who fit the need.

Given that LK has a larger roster than most, he has the luxury of time to asess these kids and work them in where he see's best. It also works out because these D4, D5, D6 kids probably played both ways in High School if they were that talented.

Case in point, Randall Knapp: Average High School Quarterback at Field HS, All-American Receiver at Mount.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Being worried about Mount not having talent for next year is simply a waste of time.  They have only been great for 20 years.  I am sure they will be fine.

It is amazing what losing your starting QB can do to a team.   Three weeks ago Cap was in the top five in the country, Marty goes down and the bottom falls out.  It wasn't to long ago Cap would give anything to be 7-3.  I hope this team plays hard and with some pride the next few weeks to finish the season on a positive note.

Lexington junior quarterback Courtney Avery is enjoying the best season of his three-year varsity career.

He's started since a freshman.

For praiderguy,
The freshmen class this year has at least 4 different quarterbacks. 1, possibly two have dressed for varsity games but i don't think they have played. Are any in Micheli's class... certainly not yet but I can hope.

Desertraider

Good point about Knapp. Cecil Shorts was a QB in HS but was converted to WR this year. Could he go back to QB, maybe - but I think LK has to have someone in mind. Though I have not been impressed with Rocco maybe he will come around with some more playing time in mop-up duty, spring ball, etc. I will admit that I don't think it will allow him to improve enough but who knows.

Maybe Rocky Pentello will find out he has another year through a loophole and come to Mount for next season ;D.

This just in from the Athletic Office (Actually it could be old, I just got out of bed)

JV game against NC Tech has been cancelled.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

OldOtter

So I was wondering... i looked at the first Regional Rankings. In the north, Otterbein is ranked third, three spots infront of Case Western. But, in the top 25 rankings, Otterbein sits at 18 while Case is at 13. How does that work. Aren't they the same people voting on the two different polls?

Desertraider

This may have been addressed already but how can the game between UWW and UWEC (both WIAC teams) be a non-conference matchup? Also, why are they playing twice in the same season?
