On another note, the Sunday night game November 2 will feature a couple of former Mount Union Raiders as Pierre Garcon represents the Colts and coach Dom Capers the Patriots. How cool is that?

Also, Canton Mckinley and John Carroll will be represented by Josh McDaniel

So I was wondering... i looked at the first Regional Rankings. In the north, Otterbein is ranked third, three spots infront of Case Western. But, in the top 25 rankings, Otterbein sits at 18 while Case is at 13. How does that work. Aren't they the same people voting on the two different polls?

The regional ranking are by NCAA selection criteria, and have little to do with subjective evaluation of team strength.

This may have been addressed already but how can the game between UWW and UWEC (both WIAC teams) be a non-conference matchup? Also, why are they playing twice in the same season?

Neither one could find an opponent to play; this was their only recourse for filling out the schedule.

Otter -- you should read the Playoff FAQ that is linked at the top of those same regional rankings.

Gotcha.... Thanks for the clarification!

I didn't know that a few were not aware of being in "playoff shape." I guess the best person to ask would be LK...he seems to know what "playoff shape" is and how to achieve it. And thanks to those who actually added something intelligent to the discussion. I didn't realize it was a dumb subject to discuss...a thousand pardons to those on a higher level of intellect.

Trivia question:

Who was the last Mount Union QB to start as a Freshman?
12-0 = 13

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

That didn't take long. :D

You win a +K.  ;D

Well that answers my question! Thanks Kirasdad!

With his injury tainted career, is M. Assman now on the Pentello tenure track at Capital?

I don't think it is a dumb subject either. I was merely pointing out rocketraider's reference to bambord's post as stupid and then using that to refer to his post about playoff shape. I don't think any of the posts are stupid - I say in my post that I prefer "uninformed" but since he used stupid - I went with that.

There are guys on here with more knowledge of D3 football than most people could ever hope to have (Ric, seventiesraider, kirasdad, hscoach, Pat - just to name a few). If everyone stopped asking questions because they thought it was stupid - the board would be silent. I did not mean to step on any toes or offend.

Now then - I get that UWW and EC are playing again because of an open spot on the schedule. What I don't get is why the first game counts as a conference game and this one does not. The posters in the WIAC room were saying that this game means nothing to the conference standings and I don't understand how they can just choose to have this be a non-conference match-up during the regular season.
Thanks-

The reasoning was that they didn't want the conference game played under different conditions from every other conference game -- between two teams that had not only scouted each other and seen each other on tape, but had also actually played each other once already.
