The 4th and inches call from their own 11 was worse than questionable.  It was just plain ol' stupid.  At the time, Mount was up only 13-0 thanks to a fumble return from the defense.  The JCU defense had played great in keeping the Raider O, especially Kmic, completely in check and you go for it from your own 11?  With an offense that can't run the ball?  It was just plain idiotic.  And even if they pick up the first down, they're still 88 yards away from a touchdown.  It's not like they were in FG range already and were simply passing up a chance at 3 points.  That might be the dumbest play call I've ever seen in all my years of watching Mount.

In regards to Petruziello's mouth, I'm very surprised a MUC defender didn't take a shot at him.  The boy spent more time talking trash and shoving people after the play than he did trying to solve the D.  He also spent quite a bit of his time on the sidelines yelling at his team mates.  I know he was smacked around a lot today and was frustrated at not getting more time to throw, but that was not a good display from a senior.

mtfan,
A couple minutes after the cow bell thing and our discussion of listeners in Virginia, the Mount SID got an e-mail from a Air Force serviceman stationed in England saying that we had listeners across the pond too.  Pretty cool.

...but I suspect uncle Larry will give him a lesson when they meet.

IF they meet.  IF.  There are a lot of variables but I would have to think that if Wabash wins out and MUC win out, they would have to both navigate at least two games before squaring off.  I'd venture to say that MUC would be the second team Wabash would have to play against in the playoffs in fact.

Oh no!  Not wabash again.   I remember the carnival barkers in the red and white striped bib overalls.  Very Indiana.

Well as it stands now, and if you wanted to look strictly at the regional rankings, Wabash and MUC would probably be looking at a potential game in the regional finals.  Obviously, MUC is #1, then NCC, then Wabash will creep up to #3 after Otterbein loses next week.  Should NCC drop a game, Wabash would get as high as #2.  But whether they are #2 or #3 in the region isn't relevant as either of those seeds would wind up going to Alliance for the quarterfinal (should they get that far and if the travel scenarios are such that the seeds and matchups line up which they usually do in the North).

And of course there's always the possibility that somebody moves to a different "region" for the playoffs.  Still a lot of things to be settled in the last couple of weeks here.

in my opinion, otterbein's D will be able to hold their own against MTU's O. as long as the front 4 are healthy, i feel they can stay with anyone in the conference. they've played well all year and have got themselves ready for this game.

should be a great one in Westerville. any of the the other posters planning on making the trip down? i"d love to talk to u at the game if u plan too

Old Otter:  Ric and I will be there a couple hours before kick-off just milling around the pressbox.  Look us up.  We won't be hard to miss.  Just picture the football version of Laurel and Hardy............

A few observations from Mount/JCU...

On Nate's last TD he actually turned back and wanted to hit the guy...that was great!

Yep, the officials were not that good, especially signaling a TD when there wasn't one.

A few Mount fans were ragging on Greg, Nate and the o-line...perhaps they didn't realize that JC's defense was playing a solid game.

Herbert and Millings are monsters!

RUN NATE RUN!

I saw Nate's run on the rebroadcast last night (after St. Ignatius tore up Edwards) and it reminded me of the run against ONU (I think it was ONU) when he literally threw the defender in front of him and then ran over him. Against JCU he looked like he thought about running back and hitting the kid and then backpeddaling into the endzone. He runs with aggression.

JCU's QB really needed to look at the scoreboard. He was running his mouth down 41-0. I know you get fired up - but come on - down 41-0 is not the time to talk smack. I also agree with many posters on here that the more I see Rocco the more I don't want to see Rocco next year. Nice kid, good kid, but not the answer for next year.

I might make the trip to Westerville this up coming weekend. I figure it could be a barn burner (a la MUC and JCU in the multi-overtime thriller) or that Mount could make the Otters look like so many other great teams in the past - unworthy. Either way it will be a great game.

I think everything you said supports my thought.  If Wabash wins out, there's a better chance they host Otterbein before they travel to MUC.  That's me suspecting Wabash finishes as the 2 or 3 in the north.

Wasn't there and not making excuses for the JCU QB but I'd venture to guess there was some extra chatter going on because of his brother being a starter at Mount.  He was probably getting a little more attention down 41 points than the average QB.

Very true indeed. I am sure he was getting his fair share of "attention".

Anybody watch the BW-Northern game? Great defensive effort by both, but what a snooze. The STO camera men did a good job of trying not to show the stands. Don't think the Northern side had 200 people.  I was made curious when different shots showed the end zone concession stand and nobody was in line.

BTW I was thinking if the JCU QB was the brother of a well respected receiver on Mount team that he probably got more respect than normal. Maybe he's just tired from all the other times he's been roughed up. Can't really believe he came in thinking this was the Carroll team that was going to beat Mount. This is a Carroll team that needs to start playing their freshman.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Wideout

I really think JCU took our passing out of play, they made good tackles on our receivers they had to work at getting open. I would say that is as good as anyone has played us yet.
The game felt kind of strange, the points were wright but they had to work for it.

section13raiderfan

I imagine that the Petruziello from JCU might have been upset by the socks that his brother was wearing. He looked like Pippy Longstockings out there.  ;D Maybe he stole them from his brother and that might have set him off. How bout them refs shortening the field to award the JCU receiver a TD at the 2? Those guys were something else ::)

But seriously folks....is it possible to call OTT for tickets in advance and pickem up at will call? Any reserved seat there?

HScoach

Without any semblence of a running game, JCU's QB sure had the attention of D-line ;D

I doubt Petruziello was all that happy about being the center of attention though.    Hopefully the JCU training staff had plenty of ice for the trip home because Millings, Herbert and Company beat the living snot out of him.

I forgot to mention the results for week 9 and the spreads for week 10 have been posted.

There isn't reserved sitting at Otterbein. The only seats that are on reserve are for the donors of the Otterbein O-Club. Chances are you aren't a member. The away stands are TINY, probably the smallest in the conference. Your best bet is to get there early. If not, you might end up standing around the track. The school is doing presale tickets on Thursday and Friday mornings this week but they are selling them at the stadium ticket office. You could call the athletic office ahead of time and see if you get get early tickets. Talked to my mom (I have a brother still playing at OC) and she said she had heard a rumor that Mount was bringing fans down in buses?!? Wasn't sure if that was true or not. If so, you might wanna get there REAL early. I know she said she was going up a few hours before the start of the game to save seats.  Looking forward to a great ballgame. OC is coming off a game where they dominated all phases. Hopefully they have a great week of practice and come out saturday ready to win!
