Taunting the  visiting team by the home team before the game starts is very unwise.  Esp. if the visiting team has 9 national championship rings and is undefeated so far this season.  What were they thinking?

I totally agree. Mount is a team you want to catch off guard - not make sure they are focused by taunting them. Hell, i'd try to make them overconfident by greeting them at the bus with a red carpet and having my JV squad carry their bags from the bus.

I remember in years past Don Montgomery told us about teams getting all hyped up.  When an opponent would get all worked up at the start of the game, we would just wait and watch for when they would get deflated.  It happened every time.

I wish the Otters would stop screwing around and score. Maybe Nate gots some more carries.

Great, the halfback can pass better than the QB.

A trick play to pull within 30.

What's going on?    Mount can't hold onto the ball!

Well Mount prevailed. However, so much to work on for the raiders. Too many penalties - and way too many dumb penalties. The late one on Ely - gotta control that emotion (especially this late in the year). Mount seemed to get sloppy as the game went on (2nd half especially). TOs - lost the TO battle by my count and I don't think that LK will like that. I was impressed that OTT did not quit. Congrats to the Otters! They represented well and never gave up.

If this was a measuring stick then I think OTT can walk away feeling better about their future. As for Mount - the measuring stick indicates more work is needed in order to get #10! Great game by Cecil, Nate and Greg - definately the core of this team!

Unoffically Nate needs 962 to be the all-time D3 Rushing yardage leader. A couple of hundred against Marrietta couldn't hurt.

Great Effort by Otterbein, but rethink the pre-game antics. Underdogs taunting is just bush league.

I'm happy Larry is working the 1st team deep into games. It's one of the things that concerned me going into playoffs every year. The early rounds seem to get a little tougher every year.

JK-Please know we're all pulling for your family and your father-in-law. Past 50 it becomes apparent how little control you have over the cards your dealt. I'm still lifting and working out with my teams, but time still takes it's toll. It's really great you could get there quickly to be with him and your wife. God Bless.

NCAA DIVISION III CAREER RUSHING YARDS

                                         Carries         Yards

1. R.J. Bowers, Grove City (PA), 1997-2000 1,188........ 7,353   =   6.2 yards per carry

2. Justin Beaver, UW-Whitewater, 2004-2007 1,188........ 6,584   =   5.5 yards per carry

3. Nate Kmic, Mount Union, 2005-present..... 990........ 6,557   =   6.6 yards per carry

Odd that Bowers and Beaver have same number of carries.  Although yards per carry may be most telling, yards per game of these rushing machines may be interesting.  Bowers may have played less games than Nate or Beaver.

Who is next after these three?

Seventies

I'm confused.  According to the post I quoted above, Nate was only 796 yards off the rushing mark as of last week.  I'll check into the official numbers when I get a chance.

I went to Westerville and they just let me and about six others walk in an open gate.  No seats but plenty of good SRO areas. Actually ,the SRO viewing was quite good ,right on top of the action. I didn't see the Otters stop the offense at all. A couple dropped passes,a few penalties, one or two hurries and LK are the only things that kept the Raiders under 60. Beautiful campus.

The Otter option gave Mount trouble in the first quarter, but the D settled down and played great after that.  The shotgun/full house backfield that they ran a lot of the game was a curious formation.  Looked like an inverted wishbone with the QB in the shotgun.  Weird.  And largely ineffective once MUC got a look at it a couple times.  Rafferty is a good athlete, but he's not a very good passer.   4 of 12 for 69 yards is not going to get it done.  Anything Mount had Otter in an obvious passing situation it was lights out!  All facets of the MUC defense played very well.  Millings and Herbert were their usual disruptive forces at DE,  but I thought Kershaw and Stewart played their best games today.  Good to see the young guys growing into studs.

Was very impressed with Greg Micheli today.  He played his best game since the '06 Stagg Bowl in my opinion.  Otterbein blitzed the crap out of him making him move around in the pocket and he continued to make throw after throw with accuracy.  The banged up O-line did an admirable job picking up the blitzes and giving Kmic just enough room to have another productive day.

Overall, Otterbein was a pretty good test for the Raider defense as they were the first opponent that had a real running game and Mount needed to see that before the playoffs.  Offensively, the Raiders continue to be remarkably consistent.  5 TD's on their first 5 possesions in the first half against a defense that was ranked #4 in the nation in scoring.  That's plain sick!

Hopefully Otterbein puts today's game behind them in a hurry because JCU won't be a push over and Otter won't make the playoffs if they loose their last two.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

If LK was so inclined we may have seen if various scoreboards around the OAC registered triple digits over the past 15 years.

Congrats to ONU on the quality win against CAP today.  Brent Donley and Kenton Sneed continue to impress.

Just some food for thought on ONU's season...

Since ONU's horrible start they've gone from being outscored on average 34-9 in the first four games to outscoring opponents 27-9 in the last five.  A bit of a turnaround there.

Also ONU has been a great second half team since Dean Paul came to Ada but the only quarter ONU has been outscored in this season is the third quarter and it has been ugly: 71-31 in favor of opponents.  In 2007 ONU outscored opponents 81-52, '06 ONU outscored opponents 61-28 and in '05 ONU outscored opponents 121-18 and in '04 ONU outscored opponents 79-13 in the third quarter.  ONU's put opponents away in the third quarter and that hasn't been the case this year.  Not a surprise that we are 4-5 overall given this stat.

From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
Nate Kmic carried 25 times for 166 yards and three TDs to become the NCAA's all-time leader in touchdowns (111) and total points (666).

Coach Kehres should have let Nate run a two point conversion or kick a PAT so he wasn't stuck as the Number of the Beast.  LOL
