My prediction for Cap/JCU.... the team with the best QB performance Saturday will win.

My prediction would be that the team with the best running game wins Saturday.  The team with the best QB performance may be the one playing from behind.

Perhaps we could all sit here together and talk about nothing to appease you.

I believe that some perspective has been brought to the board with the death of the very young ONU assistant coach.  Sympathies to the entire ONU family.

As I read about the demise of Mount Union, in some respects you have to agree that the domination in the past was near miraculous, and any Raider fan who expects this to continue year in and year out, is more fanatic than realistic.  I would like to think that the success of Mount has been good for D3 as a whole.  Using their program as a measuring stick, I believe that d3 football has become because better as a whole because others followed their lead.
Obviously, Mount is not as dominant as they once were, but I believe that the OAC has stepped it up, as has other programs using their success as a motivator.

Finally, regarding the Mount Union fans...The success of this program is expected rather than appreciated by many many followers.
When we lost to ONU, many failed to give Northern their due.  As a lifetime (and beyond) Purple Raider,  I have to admit the tremendous pleasure that I had watching the pure joy of the ONU players, parents, and fans after the game.  It was was almost worth the loss.  I remember when we celebrated in that fashion.  I miss that feeling....
Personally, I miss being so happy that I dont remember the drive back from the Stagg. I miss the celebrations that lasted for hours, not the 30 second cheer  we now see regularly...For the most part a great many of the Mount following have forgotten just how special "winning a big one" can be...

It may seem a bit strange to some, but I wish I could have seen Coach Bendeckovic immediately after the Mount game...although football isn't life...the feeling he had that day was quite possibly the happiest moment he had in coaching, or at least his  greatest feeling of pride in  the last weeks of his all too short life.
I am glad he could experience the true joy of winnng with his players and fans.
I hope that all who participate get to experience that joy at least once.  I hope that those Mounties that have lost that can get it back.  But it just may take losing a few more to bring back the appreciation, and lose that expectation...
sorry for rambling..

Nice Post! Well said!

Relative to the playoff picture, there are a number of factors involved. If there was only one 8-2 team in the OAC that finished second...maybe,  but a 3 way tie ..no way the OAC gets two in.

Currently, the top 3 teams in D3 are currently out West. Can't see the commitee leaving them all out there. In the past some WIAC qualifiers have be moved to the North region. For St. John's and Whitwater, a higher seed in the North than in in the West may mean less travel time and make more sense. The North bracket IMO, seems a little weak this year and I would not be shocked to see that happen. I don't recall, but has the commitee moved someone out of their region and made them a 1 or 2 seed in in a different region?

It must be November because the number of "I can't believe they'd overlook (insert my favorite 2nd place team here) " posts are growing by the day. Stick around two weeks and the NCAA  will make you a believer.I've seen some awful good OAC teams sit home each year.

thanks for the repost of Raiderpa, must have missed it, but ditto the sentiment!! As for your question posed about a team from a region moving to another region with a higher seed, i've been pondering this as well. I recall JCU was in the East Bracket two years ago but can't remember where they happened to be seeded. But I can serioously see a dilemma coming out of the West region right off with the current situation. Personally I hate to see a team moved from a region to be placed with a higher seeding in a different region, simply because it does break down the integrity of having the regional set up; However, there is going to be no other way but to do so this year by the way things are shaping up.

I beleive you just stole that trophy back, LOL, that was a good one!

Mr. Ypsi

My prediction for the JCU/Cap game - the team that scores more points will win.

hscoach - does that get ME the Mr. Obvious trophy, or was that TOO obvious an attempt to steal the cup! ;D

When JCU went out east they travelled to every team so they couldn't have been better than a 5?!?

I hope Saturday turns out to be a good football day and that boh teams show up with some fire.

Good luck to ONU as you know the Polar Bears will be playing with heavy hearts.  What a roller coaster this year has been on every level for this program.  Good luck Bears.  Give Coach Bennie something to smile about.

Mr. Ypsi

b4,

Sorry, you are obviously being too obvious in trying to take away my shot at Mr. Obvious.

Obviously, presenters cannot allow overly obvious Mr. Obvious candidates to prevail - isn't that obvious?!

Overly obvious obviosity will not be tolerated - obviously!

The NCAA takes 8 from each region and if Cap beats JCU they will be in the top 6 .......how could they get overlooked?

This isn't true. The NCAA doesn't take eight from each region, and it doesn't take a certain number of top teams from every region at all. There are 32 bids, 21 are automatic, with 11 left over nationally, of which Capital is eligible for one of SEVEN.

Early in the year someone posted a poll about what game you would go see if you didn't watch your own team. I might have said differently Week Two, but Cap-Carrol is it. If I didn't need to be catching the bus for HS playoff game tonight I'd be in Columbus for the game. I hope whoever prevails gets an invite to the show. Good luck to the Crusaders and Streakers, as hard as that might be for me to say. ::)
