Nothing personal,

but I hope Hobart beats MUC . . .

and if they can't do it, then I hope to see Cortland beat MUC.

And if that doesn't happen, then I hope MUC wins it all, only to come to Rochester in September and get beat SJF.  . . .

The East is so over due.

The East is so "over due [sic]???!!!"  What the hell does that mean?  How does being the weakest bracket (minus Mount Union, of course) make the East "over due [sic]?"  Not being able to beat Mount Union doesn't make the East overdue.

None of those things are likely to happen.  The least of which is Mount coming to Rochester and losing.  If Mount loses, it won't be until the semis or later.

Also, no one here is going to be "with you" on that.  Most of us in the OAC subscribe to the "If you don't like Mount, beat them" school of thought, not the "I hope Mount loses because my team isn't good enough to beat them" school of thought like you.

My vote is in!!!

Great to see so many Ohio kids get nominated. Especially good to see Bobby Swallow from nearby West Branch get nominated. I have watched him since Junior High football. Sorry Bobby, you didn't get my vote  ;D

Who's with me?

Nothing personal, and I mean this as a strictly neutral observer...........
but I hope Mount beats Hobart 56-0
then beats Cortland St. 63-0
then wins it all to claim Number 10.
Then I hope they go to Rochester and they beat SJF (AGAIN!!!) so badly that SJF cancels football to focus on knitting - maybe they can knit a D to stop the run.
Additionally, the East can't be overdue...........MOUNT is in the East. Someone had to make it respectable.

Now then, no offense intended to any East poster (TGP has been all class) other than SJF Fan.

Dude -the post was made in jest - of course its personal!!

I wouldn't say the East is the weakest bracket - we actually have done quite well when facing teams in the South . .

Prior to '06, I watched from a distance, and wondered how good MUC truly was given that they only played one team from the East every year (usually Rowan).

Then I watched you guys play and beat up on Fisher, and go through the East bracket last year like it was practice.  Which was disappointing we didn't put up a better game for you.

If you guys beat Hobart and Cortland, those are pretty respectable programs.  Which means, that in the last three seasons you will have played and beaten - Fisher (3 times), Ithaca, TCNJ, Hobart, and Cortland.  I'm not sure who else we can throw at you guys to give you a game.

My hope is, that you respect SJF for at least venturing out of the east and scheduling a home and home with you.

We're trying to get better, and waiting to see the gap close. - if not now, hopefully in Sept.

Clearly I don't know how to quote.  My comments are above.

Back to Hobart. What worries me is what I don't know about Hobart (which is a ton). I have looked at scores and stats, but they really are misleading - as is looking at opponents I know more about than Hobart. For example: they gave up 16 to a UAA 5-5 team (Carnegie Mellon) and lost to a 5-4 Union team 38-35. Their D sound impressive (relatively speaking) but I look at the points and yards they have given up to 'lesser' (i.e. not Mount) competition and think it will be a blow-out by halftime. I guess I'll know more by Saturday, around 1PM ;D.

It's all good. I didn't mean "offense" so much as "intended for". I also left out the emotocons. I respect SJFs program for more than just scheduling Mount in a home and home, and think that next year will be a truer test of both programs (Mount and SJF). SJF won't have to stop Micheli and Kmic - which is a huge plus for them, and Mount won't be able to hand the ball to Nate and watch him do his thing (unless Nate finds out about the new, double secret, NCAA eligibility extension......call Rocky Pentello for more info Nate!).

I just hope SJF puts a better team on the field to make the trip worth it next fall

PS I respect anybody who cares enough about growing their program to take on the best instead of running from it like Wooster. It clearly worked for Whitewater and for my little Mogadore Wildcats who have run over so many bigger High School teams we have to bring in teams from Canada to start our season.

Haha K+  Would have been nice not to have him end our seasons in both '05 and '06.  What a QB, though!

Seventies--I wish my HS team could have played the Cats.  I was hoping and praying, but no such luck.

But one of the best running backs in D-III Nate Kmic left off

I don't see how you nominate Kmic over Micheli unless Kmic has a 3.85 GPA.

3.84 GPA with a double major in math and physics?  Micheli is John Carroll material!   ;D

Micheli's got too many wins.  They wouldn't know what to do with him at JCU.

Don't shortchange the OAC on your list SJF fan.  When they shipped JCU to the East (something we wished they'd do permanently when doeder posted here regularly), Arth and his boys walked through the region as the second place OAC finisher beating Hobart, Muhlenberg and Brockport State before getting their hats handed to them again by Mount Union.

I know what you're saying with the idea but wanted to make sure you were aware that the OAC has had a lot of success against the East; not just Mount Union.

And as a fan and alum of another OAC school that "has" to face Mount Union every year, I am very impressed SJF had the cojones to schedule Mount in the regular season to build its program's reputation and gain experience.  Every team in the country has a chance to better themselves by scheduling the machine in week one but there's not exactly a list on the AD's desk of applicants.  For that I applaud you.  Or maybe instead of applause we can all salute you with a drumroll.  Is your former WR Corey Jackson still available for that???

skunks_sidekick

Anyone know if there has been discussions as to who it will be in 2010/11?  I am guessing that won't come together until sometime next year, but I was just curious.

I vote for SJU (heard they really aren't interested), Wabash, Wesley, or maybe NCC (I LOVE Chicago).
