The convention in the one platoon 1950s was to play the QB at S and the HBs at CBs with the FB at S.

Just in case anyone is sitting at home, bored to death and very impatiently awaiting tomorrow's game like I am, I thought a little dose of Kmic would pass the time:

There are no words to describe that run! There is a question though...does a D Coordinator show that clip to his players?

Ypsi -- Thanks for the history lesson.  Have been a Yost fan for a long time.  [comes with being a math/stats major]

Cuz afterall, the only reason there issports is to keep us statisticians happy, right?

]8-{D>

As a retired stats instructor, thanks! ;D

Just for you:

Fielding Yost's record, 1901-05: 55-1-1 (outscored opponents 2,821-42 - bet even LK can't match that one! :D).

I may have over-stated the gap between Yost and Harmon, at least for the late 70s-80s crowd.  Some guy named Jerry Ford was a key player for the national champion Wolverines in 1932 and 1933, and the team MVP (when they won only 1 game) in 1934.  And, contrary to persistent rumor, he DID wear a helmet. :P

Mount Union had a stretch under LK where they won 54 in a row then lost then won another 55 in a row (or vice versa).  I believe that 109-1 beats Yost by a long shot.

Take that, Michigan man.   ;D

Yeah, I knew about the 109-1 stretch.  I was referring only to the 2,821-42 scoring difference. ;)

BOY, I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WHINED AND CRIED THAT THEY NEEDED TO GO UP AND PLAY AT ANOTHER LEVEL?  ;D
Is our friend, Don from North Canton around?....anyone?...... ::)

Actually, OU#25, UM outscored opponents one year (1902?) by 555-0. ;D

The norms of sportsmanship have certainly changed over the years, and Yost probably did leave his starters in all (or at least most) of the game (though, of course, they did play both ways - would Kmic and Micheli be LBs, DBs, or what? ;D)

But at least Yost never pounded a cupcake 216-0 like John Heisman did. ;)

I think Greg would be a lock at safety like high school. Now Kmic as a LB coming through  the line the other way  :o, i know i wouldnt want to be the opposing QB.

Mount receivers are a tough one on one matchup...then factor in that Mount can go no huddle at anytime...go 4 or 5 receivers on any down and motion Kmic out of the backfield and line him up as a WR on any play...If you stack the box you're going to lose.  Also note that Micheli is basically another RB behind the line of scrimmage so if you happen to cover the receivers and get a good rush on him...he can sidestep a few defenders and go 60 yards (Wilmington) for the score.  Also Mount has not run one trick play all season so at any moment...Shorts could pass the ball as well...So yes...pick your poison.

Not that Rowan is Mount, but Cortland has been dealing with this situation for years.  I think if anything the Mount Machine factor might hurt Cortland more than anything.  Cortland has had problems overcoming the Rowan Machine factor in years that I felt Cortland was the better team 22 vs. 22.  They also seem to beat Ithaca at the Cortaca Jug when it doesn't matter and lose to Ithaca when it matters (East No. 1 seed 2008).

Cortland is a good, physical team. They have playmakers on both sides of the ball.  If Cortland doesn't psych themselves out, and plays to their capabilities, Mount will have a true test.  My last concern would be half time adjustments... I've always felt that Rowan made better adjustments at half than Cortland, so that obviously doesn't favor Cortland tomorrow.

If Cortland can bring what they brought to Rowan this year, they have a shot.  If they bring what they brought to Ithaca, they're screwed.

would love to take credit for that one, but that was made by a roommate of a couple Purple Suits.  My youtube contributions were generally aimed more at the opposing team.  Great slideshow though

I found this Barry Switzer quote for our Buddy Don in N. Canton. "If you don't want to get beat so bad, you'd better bring a better team."

Dress warm and get loud. I should be on the south wall  just west of the main entrance again in my black Mount sweatsuit. Stop by.  No real snow yet but only 20 degrees. Hope it's not too close because I have to announce a basketball game tonight and I really need my voice.

Or forfeit the game, then you only lose 0-2.
