"Our core philosophy is about stopping the run every venue we go to," MacNeil said. "We try ... to make a team one-dimensional."

Actually ... when I was in school, minutiae WAS the preferred spelling for minutia.

Since I'm constantly running across 30 and 40 year-olds bemoaning their advanced years on these boards, I gotta ask - bushman and mr_mom, are you really old enough to make these posts? ;)

We certified too-old-for-AARP alums want to know. :D

Cortland State Coach MacNeill pre-game:
"That football field is the same size as any football field we've stepped on all year. Our players need to understand it's about blocking, tackling, field position, and scoring; a lot of the things they have worked on everyday all year and now we have to do it in high fashion."

I thought Coach MacNeill was paraphrasing lines from Coach Norman Dale in Hoosiers when I read this. (I've watched Hoosiers more times than I'll admit.)

I like the way he said it in pre-game essense:

"We need to tackle Kmic," MacNeill said.

There's as good a game plan as you get.  Hats off to Coach MacNeill and the Red Dragons showing up and giving it a decent try.

minutiae is the plural of minutia.  From the Latin I had in 1961-1962.  So I count as a geriatric as well.  But I will still have MUC team's brownies awaiting them at the Stagg Bowl as I have for the last 4 years!  Nice young men, only terrifying on the field.

Olinemom.

Story of the Mount -  Cortland game.........42 minutes to 18 TOP...cannot score if you do not have the 'skin....amazing ball control game for the Raiders
Mount had the ball (against the wind) for 12 minutes in the 3rd qtr... Cortland 9 offensive plays in 3rd qtr
some pass "d" revue needed this week...
Wheaton is a class program, Swider a good coach and as classy as we have ever played..

mr_mom

Thank you, Olinemom.  All those years of Latin I were not in vain.

Ypsi, THIS Mom is almost 49.

If it weren't for the grey beard, and the wrist, elbow, and back brace that I'm wearing, I would say that I am relatively young.

I can still kick those 23-yo butts in foosball and wallyball.

But it takes me three days to recover!   :'(

Mount 81 offensive plays today... Cortland 34.....I can't ever remember that big a difference...

What a great day to spend in the pressbox!   That wind LOOKED brutal ;D

Great game from Micheli throwing darts into the wind, Chad Reynolds came up big with a career day and congrats to the big guys up front.  By far the best performance of the season for the O-line.  They played very smart and continually picked up the Cortland blitzes and stunts up front.

And Kmic was simply Kmic.  The field conditions really took away his ability to cut, but he adapted and changed his style and shortened up his steps to keep his footing.  He would have easily had 300+ on a dry track.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Olinemom. I took Latin in 1955,,but I do not remember much of it,, or sometimes much of anything !!

Bushman  is  a member of aarp and also was in the Jr. classical league.  Online was right on.   The spelling was not incorrect.   I stand or sit  in my case corrected.

Another great job calling the game.  You two even got some "ups" from the Cortland backers, as some technical problems kept them from hearing their own broadcast.

Thanks Mom.  You're the best!

Thanks Runyr, it slipped my mind where the quote about the size of the field (court) came from. I loved the that scene with him making them measure the height to the rim.

It was one miserable day to play or watch football. I actually sat in the stands in the fourth quarter.

I personally think on a clear field the game would have been a good deal more lopsided because Cortland's d-backs were totally over matched. They were getting beat in double coverage.
