Whitewater will probably go North if they win out.

I think the seeds will be:

1/2 - Wabash / Whitewater
3 - Mt. Union
4 - Augie
5 - North Central
6 - MSJ
7 - Albion
8 - Lakeland

Just a hunch...

The NCAA shouldn't have a problem with those matchups.

Lakeland at Whitewater 110 miles
Albion at Bash 255 miles
MSJ at MUC 265 miles
North Central at Augie 150 miles

Mr. Ypsi

I'm pretty sure the NCAA never matches teams from the same conference in the first round.

Check,
Northern beat Mount. I got your point.  I realize you think they are all just as deserving.  However, I do not because of the head to head, and that is never going to change.

Eagle,

Kaz is gone, and Coach Paul is building a better program.  ONU has gone through some pretty bad times..  Yet, most Capital fans/players/parents, no matter how long, will probably never forget the way Kaz handled specific situations for about three/four years in a row when it came to playing against Capital..  Starting with the Zarlinga and 9 touchdown saga.  Some things are just not forgotten.

Even though Kaz may have left Northern, it is not the name "KAZ" that Capital associates with some of the un-professional tatics that occurred, it is the black helmets, uni's and the polar bear.

As unfortunate as it may sound...  I think what transpired between Capital and ONU there for three/four years will always cause a ripple in the water, Kaz or no Kaz.   But you do have Kaz to thank for it.

I agree with Jdean on the Jorris thing (wow, was that hard to type ;D).

I'll consider this your annual "your an idiot" post.

Jdean, you should consider it a HUGE compliment that it took until week 11 for that post to come............

They could seed them that way and then change the pairings. Not that they haven't done that before...

Thanks for the putting things in an understandable fashion.

your statement about breaking the rules and paying for them really didn't have any foundation or explanation.  how is ONU paying?  I think about 6 weeks or so ago it was made pretty clear that if ONU qualified for the playoffs they would be eligible as long as the appeals process was ongoing, which it is.  legally there is a timeline that is followed; so what were you alluding to?  And at last look an 8-2 ONU is no more or less a playoff candidate than an 8-2 Cap or an 8-2 JUC.  All 3 schools had shots if they had taken care of business, Otterbein and Mount, Cap and Mount and JCU and Cap.

rp,
Thanks for helping clarify my stance on ONU.  It will be hard to separate ONU from those days(Zarlinga, going for two, the brawl, etc.)

eagle,
You allowed my smart ass comment to get the best of you.  I don't know hmow many times we have to go through this.  The three teams likely to finish 8-2 probalby don't have a realistic shot at the play-offs, but if one did it would be Capital.  They beat the other two head to head.  I know we have typed that over and over, but it is simply the most logical case.

elee, that's not why they would get in over ONU or JCU; they would get in over them because their loss was earlier in the season.  Had ONU lost to cap early, we'd all be saying ONU now.
And for the students, another full drawer of clean undies!

Just because you and RP type it, doesn't make it the logical case.  (If I were to do a little word association to "e_lee", LOGICAL would not be the first thing to pop in my head  ;))  Imagine this, ONU fans think CAP is not more suitable as a an at-large and CAP fans think that ONU is not more suitable for the at-large.  Two schools that don't like each other disagree about their own team being more/less/equally deserving.

I have never said ONU should go and CAP should stay home.  I believe CAP deserves to go no more than ONU because of CAP's success against ONU and JCU and ONU's win against Mount.

KAZ

You cannot convince me that when you read his name really big there above, that you don't get a little angry or feel the need to roll your eyes, whatever.  Lots of people in the OAC hated ONU because of Kaz.  I liked something about him so I picked ONU but others disliked him for his antics on and off the field.  There are plenty out there in the OAC that now respect and like what is going on at ONU now that the program is headed in a new direction under Coach Paul.  It is primarily Cap's former players and long-time fans that hate ONU today and no matter how you spell it out, it goes back to three little letters...

Does that tell you something...I liked something about him so I picked ONU but others disliked him for his antics.

In any event  all three teams had one pretty good beating.  I think some have called it a monkey stomp.  I think that the 70-0 JCU loss puts them at the bottom of the heap.  I think whether or not it is used as an offical reason the NCAA will not pick ONU because of the sanctions (even if the appeal is still open) this makes it an easier choice to piclk CAP.  Also them beating the other two no matter what you say is still a plus.

It is still amazing that they left their guard down enough to let cross town rival OTT beat them.  WEIthout that they would be a lock at 9-1, probably with a pretty high seed too.

Mr. Ypsi

While I otherwise have no rooting preference for either team, I was really hoping for JCU to beat Capital.

I wouldn't begin to know how to verify this, but unless someone can come up with an example I'd be willing to bet serious money that NO team (hs thru pros) has ever had a one-loss season (minimum, 9 games) where the ONLY loss was by SEVENTY points!

How would that be as a Trivial Pursuit question?!

4u

Frankly, I liked Kaz.  Including the year in which I red-shirted, my record stands at 5-0 against ONU.  Always a happy memory,

Is there any good possibility of Mount playing against Wabash? Bet that would be a great game! or    maybe not  8)
