I could see a 2-3 game for sure, but Purple Nation would have to come to Hollett...

Smeds-- I really do believe it would be a great game! I would gladly pay to fly over and see that matchup!  also experience the Lil' Giant atmosphere ;D

i would like to reply to b4uknewit... i think that mount stomps Wabash... I do not believe there is a NCAC team that comes close to one of the top teams in the OAC. I would predict Mount by 30 plus if they would happen to play (and if Garcon is healthy)  I can not wait until selection sunday

b4uknewit

2minutesOhIcame toosoon--Yes, Purple has done a lot of stompin, and will do plenty more I assure you, but a good, hard fought battle, with the NCAC could be nothing but positive if you think about it ;)

We did play Wabash in the playoffs in 2002 in Alliance.

Final Score 45-16.

Wabash had great fan support ("Hard Had D" and "Wabash Always Fights"), but they did have those silly boys in the overalls and funny hats.

What does that tell you anyways?  I think Kaz was a very good recruiter.  I was 17 and just coming off a senior season of hs football.  I was told about how tough they played Mount and who they had back for the next year.  I was told about Vagedes and Robertson and Franzer and knew there was talent in the program.  The program appealed to me because Kaz sat down personally and talked to me and my parents on my visit.  He spent a good deal of time talking things out with me.  My other experiences with OAC schools included brief meetings with the head coaches and most of the attention coming from position coaches during my visits.  I didn't know or honestly care about what he did to CAP during the Zarlinga days.  I knew I was dealing with a coach that was excited about the future for ONU and talked a good talk.  As a 17 year old kid making a choice on where he wanted to be educated first and play football second, what he did to piss some of the OAC off was not my concern.  I think that is understandable.  He made mistakes, he did some questionable things during his tenure, but Kaz also took a program that from nothing to one that finished as high as fifth in the nation.  His finish was not spectacular but what he did along the way was pretty productive.

well said rc.... love him or hate him the man did more for Ohio Northern football than most really know or even consider.  The current success of the program can still trace its roots to him and the staff that was there with him.
And for the students, another full drawer of clean undies!

Of course I am anxiously awaiting all the bashers and rehashers to say things like, "and he broke rules to do so." or "what he did was cheat" or "he was a jerk" or whatever else can be thought up.  There I said it for you all so there's no need to cover that when you dog me for saying Kaz did a thing or too well.

RC,

Didn't mean anything by it.  Actually was meant to be a tongue in cheek joke but I guess I messed that up a bit.

I am curious as to how the North seedings might shake out should DePauw and/or Wheaton come away with a victory this weekend.  If it means that the seedings will favor MUC getting to play "host" the first two rounds, I will be on the Thunder and Tiger bandwagons this weekend.  (Augie over North Central was kind of the first piece of the puzzle last Saturday.)
At least those two games will be far better ones to follow on the web than MUC at the 'Berg!

I gotta agree with you, those two games this weekend will shake down the north seedings considerably. I think Depauw will surprise Wabash, and if Wheaton can establish any passing attack against the onslaught of the Auggie Defense, there could be a whale of a game! I gotta believe that Whitewater is more than likely moving into the North region, which will make seedings very interesting if Wheaton and Depauw pull off victories to scramble things that much more. If Wabash loses, more than likely it will upper bracket them with Whitewater , a win could bracket them with Mount, projecting Wabash#1 seed, Whitewater#2 seed, Mount#3 seed, etc....   Guess the tale of the tape will come sunday!!!

Check,

Your are writing posts before "the bashers" even say anything. .. You seem so angry..

You asked for it, here it goes..here is "my bashing," I would agree with you.  I think Kaz did take a program from the bottom to the top.  He did do some unquestionable things, but you can't argue where the program was and where it ended up during his stay.

On a side note (and in no way is this connected to the tie-breaker conversation on this board.. I want to make that clear)..  I just thought I would throw this out there since most of us are football fans, and I'm guessing Big Ten fans.

Assuming Ohio State Beats Northwestern and Michigan Beats Indiana this week (Penn State has a bye this week)..... Here are the scenario's for the following Saturday, November 19th.  Michigan plays at 1:00 and Michigan State plays at 4:00

If Ohio State wins and Penn State wins, Penn State wins the Big Ten.  However, Ohio State will get an at large bid.

If Ohio State wins and Penn State loses to Michigan State, Ohio State goes to the BCS Bowl representing the Big Ten.

If Michigan wins and Penn State wins, Penn State gets the BCS Bid, Michigan is probably in the Capital One Bowl, and OSU probably goes to the Outback bowl.

Now, here is where it gets interesting.  If Michigan Wins and Penn State loses.. ..  4 teams will be tied a-top of the conference with 2 losses.  According to the Big Ten Criteria, the way the tie-breaker works, the teams amongst the 2 loss teams, have to have beat'n "at least" two schools with the 2 losses.

So, Ohio State would have got'n beat by Michigan and Penn State (they didn't play Wisconsin), so they would be out, not meeting the criteria. Wisconsin would have played Michigan and beat'em, but have also lost to Penn State.  Since they didn't play Ohio State, and have only beat'n one school, they don't meet the criteria.

Penn State beat Ohio State and Wisconsin, (meeting the criteria of beating 2 of the 2 loss teams).  Michigan would have Beat'n Penn State and Ohio State, also meet'n the criteria, and because Michigan beat Penn State in the head to head, Michigan would win the Big Ten and represent the them in the BSC game.

No matter who wins the Michigan/OSU game, that Michigan State/Penn State game is just as big for determining the outcome of the Big Ten.  Michigan/OSU @ 1:00...  Michigan State/Penn State @ 4:00.

What a day next Saturday will be.

Just because something has been around a l-o-n-g time, it doesn't mean it doesn't look silly. Come on now, I did praise your fan support. :)

I can play too RC ;D

Anyways, I am quite tired of talking of Kaz.  It is pretty well documented how I feel about the man and his former program(Which he built by cheating, breaking rules and being a jerk-RC left me no choice but to use those words ;))

To all Cap posters,

You are in for a treat.  I will be making the trip to Columbus this weekend.  Unfortunately my team was eliminated from the first roundof the play-offs in a rather embarrassing fashion which freed up this weekend.  Nothing like finding a silver lining.  I wish this game was a bigger game.  I fully expect it to be over by halftime.  Really looking forward to at least a small trip to Murph's and the Zig Haus for some darts.

Edit: I made it glow.
