Slightly off topic,

But just found out thhat Jim Tressel and Coach Heacock are going to be at dinner at my nephews house THursday.  And I have to be out of town, but since it is Vegas I shouldn't complain.  My Brother in Law asked them to stay and watch the game and they are.

RC I didnt see ya on TV last night but I was watching the game with a house full of college kids again. Someone hollered "Look at that a-----le in the middle of the Ohio State section in the Woolverine outfit"! I was hoping that wasnt YOU trying to get on TV. That guy sure got noticed though. :o  Too bad you couldnt have seen a winner. Ohio State with a lead is not as good a team as Ohio State from behind IMHO.

I thought Chekwa was victimized all night on D. Boone got humbled on O. If I were going to draft Beanie I would submit him to one hell of a physical first. If I were an insurance company I wouldnt want his business insuring his career. Hartlines draft status has fallen out of the top 5 rounds IMHO. Ohio State has to do better with their O line. They way underachieved this year. ??? Maybe Tressel has to find better position coaches, maybe he has to recruit a different kind of lineman. This is getting old. :-[

Utah for National Champs! ;D

Maybe Coach Tressel could take a lesson from a certain coach in Alliance, OH and tweak his system to fit his players a little better.  :P

Though it would never happen, I've been wondering for a decade what OSU could do with LK as the O-coordinator.

<Sigh>....what could have been.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

hscoach,

word around Columbus is Tressel would "shrivel up" if he couldn't have the final say on the play-calling.  That would be a huge issue with LK as offensive coordinator, since Kehres probably has forgotten more football than Tressel knows.

Coach- Unfortunately the Oklahoma offense more closely resemlbes the LK philosophy than OSU's.  A couple years with AP Oklahoma's offense was quite similar to Mount's with Moore, Pugh, and Kmic.  Their present offense with Bradford seems familiar to Mount's with Borchert and Micheli (Although Ballard's numbers closely resemble Bradford's in many areas he was running a pro set under center.)  Imagine what LK could do with Pryor and Wells (assuming Beanie doesn't go pro this year)?

who thinks that Pryor or Beanie would actually last under LK?  I believe they'd be in the doghouse for doing things their own way.  They don't strike me as team first guys.  I bet Beanie's little nagging injuries would also frustrate LK.

Beanie.....enjoy the NFL....buh..bye!

Pryor......maybe, just maybe you can learn how to actually THROW a football!

Burnt toast....errrr....Chekwa........maybe you can actually be in the SAME zip code as the receiver you are allegedly covering next year!

Supposedly a couple of stud RB's on their way to the Buckeyes next year.

Can Posey be that elusive all-everything receiver OSU has been missing for a very long time?

Anyone with any updates on the Louisville HS QB?  Is purple his favorite color?

Skunks, whats up buddy!  How were the Holidays?  I hope Jr is doing well.   I wonder if Tressel has the balls to change Pryor's mechanics.  Thats the only way his accuracy is going to improve.  He got by on athletic ability at the HS level and at times this year in a weaker-than-usual Big 10.

Congrats and good luck to Jason Candle.  Candle will surely be missed as he was great recruiting coordinator.  See below:

TOLEDO - University of Toledo head coach Tim Beckman announced the appointment of Jason Candle and Patrick Graham to the Rockets' football staff.

Candle, who will coach the Rocket inside slot receivers and running backs, comes from Mount Union College, where he has been part of  three NCAA Division III national championship teams in his six seasons as an assistant coach. He also played on two national championship teams for the Purple Raiders as a player.

Graham, who will coach the defensive line for the Rockets, was a graduate assistant at Notre Dame for the past two seasons, working with all aspects of the Fighting Irish defense.

Candle and Graham are the latest additions to a staff that includes Mike Ward (assistant head coach/co-defensive coordinator); Matt Campbell (co-offensive coordinator - running game); Alex Golesh (tight ends/recruiting coordinator); and Paul Nichols (co-defensive coordinator).

"Jason Candle and Patrick Graham are excellent additions to our staff," said Beckman. "Just like the four coaches we hired previously, Jason and Patrick are quality individuals who have been important parts of winning programs."

Beckman added that additional coaching hires will be announced soon.

Jason Candle - Inside Slot Receivers/Running Backs

Jason Candle joins the Rockets' staff after spending both his playing and coaching career with head coach Larry Kehres at Mount Union College. In Candle's six years as an assistant at Mount Union, the Purple Raiders went 83-4 and won NCAA Division III national championships in 2005, 2006 and 2008. The 2003 and 2007 teams lost in the national championship game.

"Jason Candle has been involved in five national championship teams as a player and as a coach. He knows what it takes to win," said Beckman. "We want to surround ourselves with winners, and Jason is a winner."

A 2003 Mount Union graduate, Candle was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference first-team selection in 2001 as he led the team in receptions (41), yards receiving (778) and touchdowns (9).  He was a key member of the 2000 and 2001 national championship teams and finished his career with 57 grabs for 1,037 yards and 11 scores.

Candle, a native of Salem, Ohio, began his coaching career at Mount Union in 2003 as the receivers coach. In the 2004 and 2005 seasons, he worked with current Rocket assistant Matt Campbell, who was the Purple Raiders offensive coordinator at the time. Candle took over the post of offensive coordinator in 2007, and also assumed the duties as the program's recruiting coordinator.

In Candle's two seasons as offensive coordinator, the Purple Raiders went 29-1, winning the national championship in 2008 and finishing runners-up in 2007. Mount Union players on the offensive side of the ball earned nine All-American honors in Candle's two seasons running the offense. Quarterback Greg Micheli was honored this past season with the Gagliardi Trophy, given annually to the best player in the nation at the NCAA Division III level. Candle also helped guide two Purple Raider receivers to All-American status during his time as the receivers coach from 2003-06.  One of those All-American receivers, Pierre Garcon, was a fifth-round NFL draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts.

Matt Campbell is also on the staff at UT as a Co-Offensive Coordinator:

Edit:  Sorry HSCoach, I didn't see that your post also referenced Campbell.

As a former Rocket who has stayed close to the program lo these many years, the excitement is off the charts in Toledo with these new Rocket coaches and folks really like the fact that winners from Mount Union are now on the staff! No disrespect for my old teammmate Tom Amstutz, former Rocket coach but a change was necessary.  Congratulations to Candle and Campbell and I'll snoop around spring practice to keep an eye on them. Now they're rocketraiders or raiderrockets too!
